Deep Impact 1998

I think is one of my favorites disaster movies, it has a feeling more good than the others with good visuals and a nice story. Sure it has cliches but they are not troubled nor ruin this movie. Totally underrated i may add.

As Armageddon but people-centered, such computers late 90's, that actors looks so young

Extremely tearjerking movie. In the end it all comes down to caring about the characters. And I didn't.
But kudos to software in 90s. According to Dull.. erm... Deep Impact you could easily calculate an exact trajectory of comet from the lousy photo in like 500ms.

As I have said before, I love disaster movies. Most often they are cheesy and predictable, but that's one of the reasons I love em. You know what you're gonna get.

Deep Impact is predictable alright, but this is one of the more intelligent disaster movies of its time. Overall a good effort by most of the actors. Téa Leoni doesn't work all that well in this one, but all the others way up for that. Especially Robert Duvall and Vanessa Redgrave.

Deep Impact is way better than it's over produced and incredibly cheesy contemporary Armageddon, and even though it's not exactly a classic, it's very good and I believe most people would be entertained.

Hmmmmm, global threat that effects everything, and there was a president who took action to protect the economy as best as he could by freezing prices and wages. Total fiction, a president actually taking action instead of ignoring and hiding the coming problem. Reality is way different. And before morons come at me about insulting someone, kiss my retired combat veteran rear, I don't care about your feelings.

It's emotional and well directing with a descent script but i expected to be with more tense. 6.4/10

You kinda know how it’s going to end and it does. The movie largely relies on you caring about the characters and I didn’t. Watchable, but definitely not twice.

Best disaster movie made. It was overshadowed by Armageddon because they released about the same time.

Recently rewatched both Armageddon and Deep Impact. While the visuals were far superior in Armageddon and focused almost exclusively on the stories of the "heroes", this movie focused on a compelling and emotional narrative that conveyed what a deep impact such an event would have on the "regular" people of Earth. As much as I enjoy Armageddon, I think Deep Impact was simply overshadowed by Armageddon's advertising and big name actors, yet deserves immensely more credit and accomplishes vastly more in the allotted time.

I think the very most part of the movie is the run-off-the-mill apocalypse scenario. I felt most of the subplots absolutely unncessary, maybe even artificial.
The whole journalist plot sucked especially, and the whole relationship drama was just...well, weak - the notable exception to this are the last 25 minutes, which have been absolutely strong.

Overall, the focus was for my taste way too much on single destinies randomly thrown in while the whole crew and ground control had way too less.

In the end, it is a watchable movie, but the first half is simply pretty tiresome - or at least unexciting.

Rating:
First half: 5/10
Second half/last third: 8/10
Overall: 7/10

By far to cheese for me. Watched it now the 3rd or more time. Gets worser each time.
