When Jana, a self-sacrificing wife and mother, sends her household help Natalia to run an urgent errand, Natalia suffers a serious accident and falls into a coma. Natalia's eight-year-old daughter Anna is left alone in Jana's modern house in Berlin. When the police rang their doorbell later that evening, Jana kept Natalia's child a secret. She realizes that she hardly knows anything about the woman from Moldova. In addition, Natalia worked illegally for them and lives illegally in Germany. Against the resistance of her ambitious husband Alexander – an aspiring political candidate in the city – Jana keeps Anna with her and her two daughters.
