05/10.
This feels like a cheap knock-off of 'Knives Out.' First two acts were intriguing to be honest and I definitely wanted to finish the story. The third act is kind of meh. The pacing went all over the place and you could easily guess what would happen next.
All in all not the worse entry in the Riverdale Cinematic Universe. The director's name is "Michael Scott" so I wanted to watch this movie just because of that.
Kind of obvious but still entertaining. Mediocre plot from start to finish. Like a lot of movies in this genre, there was more potential but they went for a pretty obvious route.
The minute Hayden showed up it became clear to me that it was him behind everything. They tried to throw in a twist with the 'Adam could've known the guy who robbed the diner' arc, couldn't sway me from my own suspicions. A plus in this story was that the female detective knew that Katie was innocent and tried to offer her a lifeline.
The ending was awful. Up until that shoot out between Adam and Hayden they had the suspense, I feel like they wrapped it up way to fast and why would Hayden want to drag this out? He could've killed Leonard, searched the house top to bottom and left. He didn't need to show his face over and over to Katie. The diamonds weren't THAT hard to find. Katie stumbled upon them.
Also, in four months time (at the end) we see Katie - now pregnant - working in her garden because she stayed in the murder house but whatever, and it hasn't rained in that entire time and she hasn't used the sprinklers or watered the flowers in any other form for four entire months thus not exposing the diamonds that are LITERALLY right THERE?! It's details like this that make or break a movie for me.
I watched this BECAUSE it looked like a Knives Out knock-off. That being said, I was hoping it would be one of those movies that are so bad they're good, but this was just one of those cringe lukewarm movies that is just plain painful to sit through. Each and every plot point is seen coming from TWO miles away, and every plot TWIST could barely be considered a twist if it can't even turn me around 90 degrees, let alone 180. The only reason I made it through the whole thing was because I watched it with my friend (shoutout to you Jeriah for putting up with me when I get the random urge to watch dumb stuff like this LMAO).
I liked it.. just enough plot twists to keep you interested. It's not a classic, but worth watching. It can't be compared to"Knives Out"(which sucked) - this is much better. I don't know why others on here are trashing it. 7.5/10
The movie sucked, don’t watch it the acting was horrible the dialogue was worse
This was directed by Michael Scott, I knew it! And they said he'd never move on from Dunder Mifflin!
Not as good as Threat Level Midnight.
I enjoyed this movie. Good twists and turns. Nice suspense thriller. :thumbsup_tone1: Well worth a watch :thumbsup_tone1:
Got off to a good start but the ending was obvious and stupid. Felt like a waste of potential.
From Netflix comes Dangerous Lies, a poorly made crime thriller. After Katie takes a job as a caretaker for an elderly man he dies and leaves everything to her and her husband, but after finding a trunk of cash in the attic and a dead body in a secret room they start to suspect that they’re caught up in something nefarious, and the cops begin to suspect things are not right as well. The main cast is pretty bad, especially Camila Mendes, who’s unable to sell the material (though Sasha Alexander does alright). And the script does them no favors, as the pot is convoluted as all hell and the dialog is awful. Straight-to-video shlock, Dangerous Lies is an inept film that’s bereft of tension and suspense.
i actually really liked this movie. but the third act was a bit all over the place and left me a bit confused.
Clunky.
Dumb.
Horrible dialogue, bland acting and plot holes galore.
Still amazes me how movies like this end up getting made.
It lost me from the start with the two leads. They had little chemistry and weren’t believable as a couple who were really struggling financially. They looked too perfect and well-turned out. Both needed to be a bit more rough around the edges to make me believe they were destitute. They kept saying how poor they were and apart from the old banger they were driving they looked a million dollars.
Only good thing about the move was Elliott Gould.
The movie started in an intriguing way but didn't live up to my expectations. I don't see why it was called "Dangerous Lies" after all... It just felt all over the place with no flow.

Here is what happened: the writers got so confused by their own story, that they left and got replaced by an apprentice (who actually was just the pizza guy), and he finished the script, leaving everyone so clueless that they called it a day and Netflix released the movie accidentally, because they forgot to delete the file in their trash bin. I'm pretty sure this explains everything!
