Muy buena!
I was having a very bad time before seeing this movie but when I saw it all the evils left me. A great performance of everyone and a great movie!
Boring. Jared Leto didn't play that magical, more like a caricature of what he thought a (trans) woman was. Would it have helped if they had gotten an actual trans woman to play her? Idk. The protagonist was still incredibly boring. Sometimes it works with unsympathetic characters, sometimes it just doesn't.
Amazing acting. I love how it exposed the stupidity and tyranny of the FDA.
This picture was a little bit all over the place. First, it seemed like a mashup of Milk and Blow (two superior films) . The film did something which drives me absolutely bonkers : it was a true story that really wasn't a true story. The lead character is a homophobic male that contracts AIDS and then goes on a quest to try to save his life. The only problem is that in real life most accounts have him as either gay or bisexual. Why couldn't he be that in the film? The first half was definitely better than the second half.

now i can see why Jared got the part as Joker.great performing.
Incredible performances by both McConaughey and Leto, very believable and emotional. One of the best movies of last year.
The story was interesting enough and McConaughey was amazing, like in every other movie he's been in recently. I wouldn't say its a "must watch", but if you do, you'll probably enjoy it.
A little slow, but overall I liked it. Hard to see McConauhey as skin and bones.
Great movie, excellent performances by McConaughey and Leto who were both very deserving of their Oscar wins.
Amazing film. Actors performance is incrédibilité.
Great film. Matthew has a great roll
An entertaining film. Good development of the characters and the harshness of HIV, together with a great performance by Matthew and Jared. The film gives an anti-pharmaceutical perspective (totally understandable) that can be confused with an anti-science vision. Beware of taking untested drugs.
Based on real events. Simply one of the best movies I have ever seen. There are no bad parts and Matthew and Jared's performances are a 10.
A revelation of a performance by an unrecognizable Matthew McConaughey. High praise coming from me, because I’ve never liked a performance from him. The movie itself, though, is formulaic and unilluminating.
Putting two piece of shit cishet men in a movie about a disease that affected mostly gay people is a stupid ass move. AIDS was ignored for years because it was wiping out the gay community but of course let’s make a movie about how it affected some asshole straight man.
A scathing retroactive commentary on the sins of the FDA and the failures of the US government as the AIDS epidemic was kicking into high gear. Matthew McConaughey (the latest actor to reap rewards for grotesquely altering his appearance) borders on unrecognizable in the leading role, a rail-thin, homophobic cowboy who contracts the disease at a point in time where it was widely believed that gays were its only victims. The dose of reality he's fed is swift, bitter and thoroughly justified, though that doesn't make it any easier to watch. His quick journey is an impressive one, if bittersweet, and his emergence from drunkenness and ignorance is a key point.
Heartbreakingly vivid, especially in its portrayal of the contradictory lengths the government is willing to go to preserve the interests of its real masters, it deserves credit for refusing to hammer the point until we're all feeling blunt and dulled. I appreciated the ride and agreed with each core message, though naysayers could certainly accuse it of having an agenda.
Great movie! Matthew McConaughey did a great job at portraying a man that was sick with HIV/AIDS. The acting was brilliant by all characters involved, and the story line was compelling and highly accurate. This movie is about a man named Ron who finds out that he is infected with the HIV virus after accidentally getting electrocuted and sent to the hospital for tests. Ron finds out he only has thirty days to live and is in denial at first, but then he tries everything in his power to get better, including by taking a newly released drug called AZT. However, over time, Ron realizes that AZT does more harm then good to an individuals body, including lowering an individuals red blood cell count and basically killing every cell in the body. Ron turns to a more conventional approach, and visits a doctor in Mexico that prescribes him vitamins and a special protein. Shortly, Ron makes his own business selling and distributing these vitamins to other people infected with HIV/AIDS. However, in the long run, Ron and members of the FDA and staff doctors start to butt heads, as Ron is stealing customers away from the hospitals, and causing the FDA to lose profit. The government eventually shuts down Ron's business, and Ron dies seven years later.
Great performances from Matthew McConaughey, Jared Leto and Jennifer Garner. The cinematography was remarkable. I've never seen a dramatic history story like this before. The one scene I couldn't help but laugh at was Matthew McConaughey's crying, it was hard for me not to crack up to such a scene like that.
Fragile but beautiful life of real people who suffered from HIV made me impressed a lot.
A facisnating true story with gritty realism and excellent performances.
It's Good. It's really interesting to see Matthew McConaughey get so many roles where he has to actually play a character, When not too long ago, he was only in bad movies. I'm glad he's grown out of that because he's a really good actor. And paired with a noteworthy performance from Jared Leno, it's understandable why this movie had a lot of oscar attention. And you know what, I'm kinda glad that this movie got a bit of attention. People should be aware that money is often the swaying point for the FDA.
Now even though the presentation is a little formulated, the subject matter and the performances make this movie very interesting. The only thing that really bugs me was the last shot which just felt kinda awkward and unnecessary. Despite the subject matter being something that's not shown too often, the overall presentation made me feel that I've kind of seen this movie before. Now, I don't think that there was anything really technically wrong with it, so if this is your favourite movie from 2013 then good on you. But, although I did consider this to be a better film than "American Hustle", it still didn't strike me as particularly exceptional.
The movie was consistently right where I expected it to be. The whole time there's no real shocks or surprises. But still it's clear that effort was put in this film to make it better than most movies. I'd say check this one out and see for yourself but I'm giving this one a seven outta 10.
The acting in this movie was great. Overall excellent movie.
McConaughey and Leto are amazing. History is run very well and did not exaggerating in any direction. Sometimes it is somehow jarring, but overall came out great.
That this film manages to rise above its potential to be TV Movie of the Week fodder is down to two major factors - the largely successful attempt to avoid melodrama and mawkishness from the director and two central performances from Leto and McConaughey that lift the material and make this film so watchable. The structure of the film its general plot can't help but mirror similar films of its ilk, and at times certain cliched moments threaten to spoil, but the actors carry these scenes and the issues the film raises regarding health care remain valid and worth exploring. Both actors deserve their Oscars, and it is a shame the film itself cannot quite reach the heights that they do. Still worth watching though.
Great movie, great acting of Jared and Matthew McConaughey they deserved the Oscar for sure. I hope to open the eyes of people who still have prejudice against AIDS patients.
Pretty darn amazing movie. Saw this when it was still in theaters and didn't really know what I was in for as I rarely watch TV. Anyhow, it's an excellent movie with great acting from McConaughey and Leto. Definitely a great movie, surprised at the 82% rating here.
Without ever spelling it out, the director shows how one determined man can change the world.
Besides the fact that i am a little bit upset about the huge amount of cigarettes Matthew McConaughey consums in TrueDetective, The Lincoln Lawyer and Dallas Buyers Club, is this besides Gravity the best movie of 2013.
Genius movie with fantastic actors and a plot that is much more creative than anything else of the last years.
The characters are good written and act reasonable. And Matthew is just fantastic.
In germany there are a lot of weird award shows. Most of them are just as unimportant as the most people who visit it. But on the last the (Die goldene Kamera - translated: The golden Camera) there was a special guest: Matthew McConaughey as best voted actor (by the magazine which produced this event). And in his speech he said how important it was to made this movie. Over 20 years they want to make it, but there was never the opertunity for it. Fortunately now the constellation was right and Matthew McConaughey was chosen.
This sums up how important it is to support this movie.
Besides that: It's an true movie with no overacting and tear-pushing storyline. This makes the movie so real and good.
Watch it or you will miss one of the greatest movies of this year.
9/10
powerful, intense and yet not rhetorical! amazing acting!
I have no words for this movie. You just need to watch it to understand its greatness.
Incredible and inspiring true story about Ron Woodroof, who fought to survive the HIV virus and the prejudice lived around the disease during the 80's. The way the story is presented to us is great, totally believable.
Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto are absolutely amazing! Their transformations are something that totally have to be recognized because we can feel their full commitment to those characters. Some of their scenes are so painful to see, so heartbreaking and that's what makes this film so powerful! Without their fantastic performances this film could not have worked so well as it works.
No doubt, that Dallas Buyers Club is a very important and moving film about hope and acceptance that can't be missed.
boring after first 60 minutes
