I can't say I liked it...
This is yet another movie that I thought I'd like more going in. There were so many reasons to think that this would be a hit with me. There's Daniel Craig Harrison Ford and Jon Favreau. Plus it's a movie with aliens which when mixed with cowboys seemed just strange enough to make it something a little different than all of the sequels and remakes of the summer movie season.
The first 30 minutes was the best thing about "C & A". The building of the story of the town and its residents was surprisingly good especially since I don't care much for westerns. Craig was also good throughout and Ford was serviceably gruff and likable at once. Then the aliens showed up and the whole thing drifted off into mediocrity.
One thing that is getting frustrating is that Hollywood doesn't know how to create an alien that is believably smart. This movie falls into the trap of presenting us with a technically advanced alien invader that is impossibly monstrous. These creatures are not believable as anything other than vicious animals. This movie is hardly the first to present such a failure but it might be the worst offender.
I wasn't impressed with any of the special effects either. Everything looks good for the most part but it all looks like good CGI. There's not a lot of realism on display. The battle between the cowboys (and indians) and the aliens drags on forever and once it's over all I really did was shrug my shoulders. The ending is similarly bland with a wrap up that is exactly what you'd expect it to be and for me that was a problem.
It's a lot to say about Cowboys & Aliens, and most of it is not good, BUT...it has an interesting premise, and both looks and sounds great. I can't even complain about the acting all that much.
The thing is...it's a hurried mess. Not enough story to fill a single comic book issue...and the darn thing is 2 hours 15 minutes long. I really wish they had spent some more time fleshing out the story some more before they started filming this thing. No doubt...Cowboys & Aliens COULD have been good, but as it is...it's not really anything approaching something I would recommend.
Better than I expected. I kind of would've preferred a better "goal" than plain ol' gold though.
the idea is interssting, but the movie is average. It's not bad, but there are so many contras:
pros:
+ Daniel Craig and Harrison Forda acting is superb.
+ Olivia is hot. That's a fat pro! :D
+ I like the combined movie
cons:
- The Movie is too long. 120 Minutes. 90 Minutes and not more.
- Some Chars are not interessting at all and could be cut out.
- Some parts are too dramatic
Overall: 6/10
Not bad. Some parts were better than others, but overall i give it a totally ninja. Like dieniol39 said, its a good way to fill a few hours.
7/10
Watched it last night, good old popcorn movie. Something to fill a couple of hours..
awesome , just awesome. If any of you guys were into aliens and our world (or the world before ours...i mean in the last 100 years)
then you would get it.
Unless you're just into sifi and nothing else you should do your research and know that this might ACTUALLY HAVE happened according to the facts from history especially in that time period. you might have enjoyed the movie a lot more. For those of you that dont know that here it is:

Seen it yesterday night: fun and weird, filled with cliches and random action. Definitely worth watching, but don't expect an intelligent and classy movie: it's a fun and dirty mess about Cowboys and Aliens ;)
Saw it yesterday evening: good and bad at the same time. Filled with clichés (mad indians, lady in distress, ... and so on) and (sometimes justified!) anachronisms, it was what I expected this movie to be, a big fat blockbuster.
While I can still enjoy this movie for what it is, my 15 year old self definitely liked it better.
It was a nice surprise to find my old cinema ticket inside the Blu-ray case. It was NOT a nice surprise, however, to find out this edition only offers the extended edition.
This movie is slow at times and it didn't help that I had to watch 16 more minutes of it, which I assume only took the pacing down even more.
I did love watching the combination of Craig and Ford, as well as Aliens in the 19th century, I thought it was a somewhat original setting.
I didn't care much for Wilde's character's development but overall the story was decent enough to entertain me for a while.
Can't say I recommend this movie, I think it promised too much action to justify the slower parts but it's a perfectly alright movie for a bit of entertainment.
"Whether you end up in Heaven or Hell isn't God's plan, it's your own. You just have to remember what it is."
Kid me would've loved this. Why not? Cowboys, Native Americans, thieves, aliens... it's like a kid's daydreaming playground. Something about it just didn't feel great even with all these great actors.
A John Favreau Movie with an insanely talented cast that was bad, I'm shocked.
just about every aspect of this movie doesn't work. It's trying to be John Carter but it's ... not great.
Think that this movie is great....just don't take yourself or the movie too seriously.
Not worth a 2nd watch!! One time was enough! Don't get me wrong Harrison Ford is awesome!!
I understand the idea of the movie and what they wanted to do with it... But failed on every level trying t o achieve it.

I'm going to agree with this. Nothing special, just some shallow Hollywood action entertainment. Okay to watch if you're in the mood for it.

This about sums it up. if you watch this movie with no expectations then you will enjoy it. But it is a little slow but on par for the main actor.
Overall 7/10
So completely shallow. Big disappointment.
I rated weak sauce ( 6/10 ) but i don't think it´s as as as people say... course the plot is weak and filled with holes and the performance are not Oscar worthy, but some movies are for our head and other just for our eyes. this movie has style and entertain us like it should.
weird but fun. It also got Cowboys and Aliens.
Assistindo right now
Well, it was ok. Good enterteinement.
Definitely a movie i want to see. It has all the plus points that could make this movie a big hit. Jon Favreau (Iron man 1 and 2) as the director, a total of 8(!) screenwriters who also worked on other big movies like Star Trek, Iron Man and Children Of Men. And big stars like Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde and Sam Rockwell. On top of that its a genre mash-up of both western and science fiction.

A group of unlikely allies track down aliens that took their loved ones. While Jake (Daniel Craig) has the only weapon that can stop them mysteriously attached to his wrist.
The film is short on a solid plot and even fun. The actors and performances are good enough to like the film nevertheless.
