This is the rare Company show to put a focus on the book. The singing is up and down, but the performances more than make up for it. This commits to it all being in Bobby’s head. The stage is surreal, the staging claustrophobic, the characters almost garishly exaggerated. He’s on the verge of a breakdown, and Lester is mesmerizing. It’s a different take on the show, and one no less interesting and compelling.
