How is it possible that this movie scored so high on here? Jokes are miles off, not even worth a chuckle. It's just plain stupid.

I really liked this movie, I thought it had great action scenes and the two lead actors Dax Shepard & Michael Pena had great chemistry together. Even though this movie didnt to well in theaters I would still recommend watching because it was funny and entertaining.
This movie was actually a suprise for me, because I would have expected it to be much worse than it turned out to be. However I have to say first, that I do not know the original series this movie is (hardly?) based on, so I will not be able to compare.
However, I was entertained. The story is all right it has some interesting moments, it is not in its entirety forseeable and besides infantil jokes about sex, male close and a rather idiotic depicted Jon Baker (played by Dax Shepard), it even has some funny inovative quotes that I enjoyed.
Also I think Michael Peña is a sympathetic actor, and so I liked his role as "Punch", he has a certain kind of smartness about himself and they added it to his role - that was interesting, because judging just by the trailer both appear to be idiots and you'd expect something horrible - oh and while I am mentioning the trailers - I loved that actually hardly joke from the trailer actually ended up in the movie - therefore there are no spoilers a number of scenes that you thought you knew actually turned out different.
But besides that, the story is rather mediocre, the characters stay shallow, 80% of the jokes aren't really funny, and a lot of story lines where forseeable. Also it often reminded me of a bad immitaiton of the Bad Boys movies - and compared to those this is a cruel joke.
So this movie is neither entirely good, nor entirely bad. And therefore after long consideration I settled with the exact middle. There are far worse movies, but there are also better. If they show it on TV and nothing else is on, you wouldn't go wrong with this, but whenever you can do something better, you'd better do that ;)
Glad I only watched this on a flight and din't pay for it. The only resemblance to the old tv show is the uniforms otherwise it was just an attempt at a comedy mash up bad boys/lethal weapon style but with some pointless nudity scenes and a really mild plot. Not utterly terrible but you could pick something better.
Its a typical buddy cop comedy. There were some funny moments. Nothing special. I think its funny how Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell are married in real life and they are having marriage issues in the movie.

This would've probably turned out much worse if it weren't for Michael Pena and Dax Shepard, they really turn this into something pretty fun. Not world-changing, but a good enough comedy to watch at least once and be entertained.
It also bugged me way too long where I knew Ava from - she's Alita!

It's a good movie, I don't understand why no is so appreciated, his only problem is the action, it's funny, it has an ok story, but for a movie that in the trailer shows that it will have a lot of action well it doesn't have, Michael Pena played very well in this movie, it's an ok movie worth seeing.
An extra star for Kristen Bell. How the .... did this mess get so high grades?

This is the worst "movie" i ever watched.
Known as French Fries in the US (not really), this is a loud, obnoxious comedy that has little relation to the 'classic' cop show of yesteryear. Barely funny, and occasionally boring.
The humor isn't as consistent as I would like it to be but Chips is very watchable. Michael Pena and Dax Shepard make an interesting pair and I thought that Shepard make a reasonable effort as a first time director. Its not going to change your life or anything but I think this movie has gotten a bit of a bad wrap.
Nothing like the original series.
I think it had potential to be so good but, for me, it failed. Jokes didn’t quite make it; the acting was average and the storyline…. What story line?
But while I won’t watch this ever again, I have seen worse films.

It wasn't bad, it had a few good moments, nice try by Dax and of course the fake boobs of Kristen!
Wow, that was quite the surprise. I was expecting this to be terrible, I almost didn't bother. It's nothing like the original, so if you're a fan looking for classic CHIPS, don't bother, but I found myself laughing pretty hard a lot during this.
Ok, poor script, cheesy props, predictable story, amazing cast, motorcycles, and of course the original Ponch equals a pretty good movie! Micheal Pena is a star, it is definitely his time to shine, Dax Shepard may also be ready to make the leap to Hollywood stardom. The two of them together kept this movie flowing. The joking between them is unparalleled in the theater these days. It was like watching Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in a Bad Boys movie. As cheesey as this movie was, I'd recommend it to anyone. But wait theres more, the FBI captain was great as well, so was Adam Brody and of course everything Kristen Bell does turns to gold. If you want to watch a brainless, entertaining movie, then this is a perfect choice. I sure hope we get a part 2, or at least Pena and Shepard have a chance on another project together.

An action packed comedy with some very fun moments, its just one of those light comedies that you enjoy at the right time. I think the only similarity between the movie and the show are the ethnicity of the two main characters and that they are CHP. Honestly Dax Shepard & Michael Pena played their roles very well, and it was not the idiotic comedy that the trailer portrayed in my opinion, it was better. Don't take it too seriously and you will enjoy the whole mess of it. It has its idiotic moments but there is also some fun times as well. Enjoy it for what it is, an action packed comedy.
