Some movies just never age and this is one of them. No matter how many times I see this movie, it never fails to make me laugh and keep me interested. Great film from start to finish, beautifully played by both Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio.
If you’ve somehow managed to go this long without seeing it, you need to sort your shit out and watch it right now!
This is just a fun movie. The pacing is great, it's a long movie but never feels slow or too long. Great performances by DiCaprio and Hanks. One of the better Spielberg films this century.
Lovely and simple
Been meaning to see this film for a while but only gotten to it now as I begin a watch of Amy Adams films.
With Dicaprio and Hanks headlining I don't think there was any doubt this wouldn't be a strong performance. I enjoyed Frank's journey and seeing how he overcame his obstacles. I looked into the real story afterwards and it's pretty damn impressive.
Usually I end up writing a 250 word review on the film but all I can say that it was absolutely brilliant from start to finish and I can't fault it. A serious congratulations and well done to everyone involed. What a brilliant film!
I really didn't expect it to be so light and fun, but still a very good one
So difficult to think, tjis really happened
Didn't know that Amy Adams is such a cutie-cutie girl in her early years.
Man, how many women did Dicaprio kissed in his acting years? A lot of them are in their youth and some of them became great actresses and are somewhat renowned today like Amy Adams for example. Loved the soundtrack that they used every time the FBI is in the place where Frank was.
Excellent film of a fantastical real life.
Picking holes, there is a little bit of a pacing issue in parts that could have shaved 10 minutes off and made the latter half run smoother.
Very good indeed. And do yourself a favour and watch the real Frank Abagnale fo his Google Talk on YouTube. Quite fantastic.
8/10
Yeah thats gonna be a 10 from me
All I’m gonna say is after seeing this film many times, it now deserves my top list.
A bit overrated imo, but still interesting to watch. It's not the best performance by neither DiCaprio or Hanks .
If you guy's don't know this movie is based on a real story Frank Jr was a real guy. and the movie is best ever i watched for like 10 times
The movie by itself is great! However if you read the book, the movie will seem like crap in comparison. They've cut out and changed way too much of the original story.
Great movie about social engineering. Your weakest links in IT are the humans (and some unchangeable protocols).
This movie is not about IT, but about con acts...
You check into a hotel room and the front desk or roomservice calls you and asks for your credit card information.
Beware of social engineering and situations that seem harmless...
It's a pretty long movie, but there's never a dull moment!
Great story & great actors!
I would see this movie again.
the kelly scene is the best, u can see frank only truly wanted to b loved and have a full family again
Pretty interesting movie, but I wouldn't really recommend it. Solid but not great.
"Catch Me If You Can" is a cinematic masterpiece that encapsulates the exhilarating journey of Frank Abagnale Jr., masterfully portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio, and the relentless pursuit by FBI Agent Carl Hanratty, played with stoic brilliance by Tom Hanks. From the very beginning, the film grips you with its vibrant storytelling, transporting you through a series of increasingly audacious cons that are as entertaining as they are unbelievable.What truly sets "Catch Me If You Can" apart are the twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat. Just when you think you have Frank figured out, he pulls off another jaw-dropping impersonation or escape, proving himself to be always one step ahead. The film brilliantly balances these thrilling moments with touches of humor and heart, making Frank's journey feel human and relatable despite his extraordinary exploits.The dynamic between DiCaprio's Frank and Hanks' Hanratty is the cornerstone of the film, evolving from cat-and-mouse to something deeply nuanced and unexpectedly moving. Their interactions, filled with wit and mutual respect, add a rich layer to the narrative, showcasing the complexity of their relationship.Director Steven Spielberg does a phenomenal job of capturing the essence of the 1960s through stunning visuals and a catchy soundtrack, further immersing the audience in the era. The attention to detail in the production design and costumes adds authenticity to Frank's globetrotting adventures.As someone who enjoys clever plot twists and character-driven stories, "Catch Me If You Can" was a sheer delight. It's a film that not only entertains but also resonates, leaving you pondering the fine line between right and wrong. The true story behind the movie adds an additional layer of fascination, reminding us of the incredible power of ingenuity and the human capacity for change.In conclusion, "Catch Me If You Can" is a must-watch for anyone who loves films that blend drama, suspense, and humor into a seamless and compelling narrative. Spielberg, DiCaprio, and Hanks have created an unforgettable experience that celebrates the art of the con while exploring the depth of human connection.
i’m truly shocked a lot of people haven’t heard about this film, brilliant story and brilliant writing
Life writes the best scripts, and here we have good acting, cinematography and direction. What more could we want?
"Catch Me If You Can" is one of those timeless Steven Spielberg classics that, while not among his best, are always worth seeing. Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks have excellent chemistry and both act well. The story itself is not particularly deep, but it is highly entertaining. The whole thing is topped off with a fitting score by John Williams. I would say, however, that the film could have ended 20 minutes earlier for a more satisfying conclusion. And Amy Adams doesn't exactly deliver the best performance of her career, either. Other than that, "Catch Me If You Can" is really a fun feel-good movie, though not much more than that.
The fact that this is a true story is pure insanity imagine pulling any of this off lmao
Of course! I am very happy to be able to write a short review of the movie "Catch Me If You Can". The film was released in 2002 and directed by Steven Spielberg and is based on the true memoirs of Frank Abigail Jr., a fraud and fraud expert.
"Catch Me If You Can" tells the story of Frank Abigail Jr.'s life as he begins his career as a con artist, fraud, and identity thief at Penn Airlines International, Pan American, and government agencies. He was unprecedented in his career in check forgery, fraud on federal officials, and identity fraud. Along the way, he meets an FBI agent, Carl Hanroth, played by Tom Hanks, and a real rivalry develops between them.
Among the main strengths of the film, we can mention the outstanding acting of Leonardo DiCaprio, who plays the role of Frank. His acting is very strong and admirable and he personally portrays the successful perception of the story and the outstanding spirit of Frank. Also, Steven Spielberg's direction and his performance make this movie a cinematic masterpiece.
This film will be with the gaps of identity hiding, deep psychological analysis of the main character and Frank's excellent imitation in the similarity of personality, spirit and way of dealing with opportunities and meeting. Also, the combination of intelligent use of thriller, comedy and drama elements in the film makes it very interesting and lively for the audience.
But, this movie also has certain weaknesses. There are some criticisms of the historical and technical details of the film and many discrepancies between the real and the presented events. Also, some people may find some of the main character's moods and decisions too intuitive and unpredictable.
Finally, "Catch Me If You Can" is a fascinating and spectacular movie that manages to attract a lot of attention with the use of a truly charming story and outstanding performances by the actors. If you are looking for a fun, exciting movie as well as an exciting and romantic story, Catch Me If You Can is a great option.
If you haven’t seen this film, than go watch it
Very good movie. Curious and intriguing story, all-star cast that does not disappoint, good work from the point of view of the crew and script that shows but does not explain, thus succeeding in creating a good atmosphere. When it comes to that comical side, I can admit that I let out some good laughs with the exaggeration of the situation that Frank Abagnale put himself in xD.
My only problem is the pacing. It drags a lot in the first forty minutes. I feel that there was no need for the runtime to be two hours and twenty. But that's just my opinion. Other than that, I really enjoyed the movie.
Entertaining story and acting. Enjoyed this
I've actually owned this movie on DVD for a decade or more and never watched it until now. This is both weird and stupid because I'm a fan of Steven Spielberg films and saw Frank Abagnale Jr. speak at a conference about 15 years ago and found him to be an intriguing person. You'd think with those two interests satisfied by this single film, I would have gotten around to watching it over the past 10+ years. Why did I wait on this so long!?!? Dumb move because this is a great movie. DeCaprio and Hanks are tremendous and the story of a con-artist and the FBI who chases him down is so enjoyable. It was also fun to see very young stars like Amy Adams and Jennifer Garner.
This is going to be a movie that I upgrade to 4K disc for my collection because I think it would be one of those films that would offer satisfying repeat viewings.
Just as great as expected.
I'm not quite sure how I've never got around to watching this, for two reasons: Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks. Literally two of my favourite actors. Well, at least I have now and I can only add to the general vibe around 'Catch Me If You Can'. It's very good!
DiCaprio and Hanks are terrific throughout, the former narrowly outshines the latter but the film is very much greater for having them both onboard. Neat to see the likes of Christopher Walken and Amy Adams behind 'em, too. It's as well cast, and as well made, as you'd anticipate from a Steven Spielberg flick.
I potentially would've shaved a little bit off the run time, though that's very much a minor, minor 'but' of mine. All things considered, it's entertaining to watch, has some solid amusement and is told in a interesting manner. I'd happily revisit it, certainly.
A quick look at the real life Frank Abagnale's Wikipedia seems to suggest an equally as intriguing story, with many claims of his potentially being debunked in the years since... yet that, given what has followed them, would simply make him even more of a noteworthy con man!
"Sometimes it's easier living the lie."
Spielberg does it once again: Great storytelling with some of America's best actors being charming as all get out. Leo is so likable and some of the things he does are so unbelievable that when I found out it was based on a true story I couldn't help but enjoy this more.
A classic film, thoroughly entertaining, with great character dynamics and outstanding performances from DiCaprio and Hanks.
Thoroughly enjoy this film, every time I watch it.
It might require too much suspension of disbelief for a true story, but it's an entertaining cat and mouse comedy nevertheless. Spielberg had to squeeze in family matters at all costs, but for once avoids getting too heavy-handed with easy sentimentalism. 140 minutes seem like a bit too long for a lighthearted comedy, but the lead's charisma, as well as the variety in moods and atmospheres, made it unexpectedly entertaining throughout.
Tom and Leo were perfect in this movie, and the background scores are amazing.
Easy to see film, good actors and good screenplay.
2.4 points -> Cinematography (0-3)
1.7 points -> Acting and Characters (0-2)
2.4 points -> Plot (0-3)
0.7 points -> Score (0-1)
0.8 -> enjoyed the movie. (0-1)
Aka. 8.0 points
I love it, the story is really original and the making is just brilliant. It's one of that movies I always feel like to watch.
Lean, flirty material that lacks the emotional punch I've come to expect from Spielberg's direction. Tom Hanks and Leo DiCaprio are charismatic enough to keep things lively and entertaining, but their roles feel so stiff and rails-bound that there isn't room for them to add much in the way of extra spice.
For the most part, the film's happy to ease back into simple escapism, embracing DiCaprio's shameless con-man tendencies as heroic and admirable, even when the repercussions couldn't have been pretty. Particularly uncomfortable is his stretch in residency as an MD, largely played for laughs, where he toys with more than just bankers' checkbooks. Christopher Walken appears in a throwaway role as the escapee's hard-luck father, but fails to pluck any of the intended heart strings and thus barely registers as more than an extended cameo.
Satisfying at times, especially when it's inspecting the hard work and tireless attention to detail that's essential to such dirty work (not to mention the rewards), it whiffs on any aspirations to challenge grander themes.
