Sue drove/ran all the way to the hall, why couldn't she have just texted Tommy? Was a bit frustrating to watch towards the end. Prevented being a 7+ because ending made little sense, and was more enjoyable before the blood fell.
Es un remake completamente innecesario y olvidable, pero no importa Chloë es una niña adorable.
Wonderful cast and the special effects were really very good! However, this has nothing on the original. (Not sure any re-make could really beat it!) Chloe Moretz is one of my favourite actresses and she played Carrie well, though I'm not sure she was really the right choice for this character.
If you want to waste your time... Guess what? This is your perfect movie
Another one for the unjustified remake pile. They didn't add anything significant except for a worse ending. That the shower scene got recorded with a mobile phone is about as current as they made it. The "new" jock bf still goes to kill a pig which doesn't even remotley fit with the times which is where they could have shown some creativity. All they aimed for was the climax which they didn't even try to hide from "newbies". And holy shit that CG blood in that scene was dreadful. Instead of showing repeats of that they could have payed tribute to the split screen imho. Also Chloe is unfortunatley a misscast as she just doesn't look the part.
You can still watch it but it's inferior and not much different from the original so there is really a reason to see this.
I already knew that it would be very difficult to do something like Brian de Palma's original Carrie but I wanted to see it anyway because a film with Julianne Moore and the young and talented Chloe Grace Moretz is a sign of good stuff.
The two are great in their roles, Jualianne Moore as Carrie's crazy catholic mother and Chloe Grace Moretz did a great job playing Carrie but in my opinion it was not enough. She is too pretty, her look is too angelic and she can't transmit nothing like Sissy Spacek transmited when she played Carrie. So unfortunately I have to say that for me, for much good actress that Chloe is, she was not the best choice to play the part.
The worst part of the film it's the lack of the creepy atmosphere that the original has. And is much more of a drama, than horror.
Overall, not bad not good, just okay.
Definitely the worst of the three.
It was no bad at all till the almost end...and then it crashed badly into a stupid ending.
Too bad, it could've been way cooler.
I dare you call it "Horror".
Still, a decent way to spend 1h e 40 minutes, there is worse outta there.
It has more scenes of drama than horror, so if you’re looking for that in this film, you won’t find it.
But I liked it. Julianne Moore is spectacular and Chloë Grace Moretz is great as the “poor Carrie,” although I think that she could’ve been a little better as the “vengeful Carrie”.
It’s a good movie. :)
3 Thoughts After Watching ‘Carrie’:
Chloë was honestly a lot better than I was expecting. I watched this right after reading the novel for the first time and I thought she embodied Carrie incredibly well.
I opted to watch this “reimagining” after reading the novel because I heard it was closer to the book. I was disappointed to see that there was still a lot left out. In the book, she basically decimates the entire town of Chamberlain and they only touched upon that a little. But I’m guessing you’d probably need a much bigger budget and a lot more time.
My two least favorite moments: 1) Carrie “flying” and 2) the ending. I thought the pregnancy thing was a little ridiculous.
Much better than the original in my opinion (but then again the original scared me to death as a child!) I love Chloe Grace Moretz anyway, think she is a fab actress!
The problem with this movie is that the problem with the commenters are always the same, and therefore pointless. They all saying its similar to the remake, oh wow what an original though you had there?? 100+ people haven't said it before you?
lol I enjoyed this, wasnt the best movie out there, but as someone who hasn't seen the original, this is pretty good stuff.
felt like the ending could of been better
This one was a great remake if you compare it to Chucky or A Nightmare on Elm Street. YUP. The effects in slow-motion during the killing scenes were pretty good. And of course the fantastic Julianne Moore and Chloë Moretz were a nice touch, maybe that's why I really liked it.
The ending is so... is so... frustrating. Jesus, the original ending is so much better!
Carrie (2013) is the third movie adaptation of the 1974 novel, of the same name, by American writer Stephen King. In the film we follow our protagonist Carrie White who is a bullied school girl born to an abusive mother. Later on in the film we discover that Carrie has telekinetic powers which she will use to take revenge on those who have oppressed her.
I have only read the book and not seen the other two adaptations so I don't know how this compares to that however I think this was a good adaptation. I believe it was well filmed though there were a few moments where the CGI could have been better, (especially for a film that came out in 2013). The costuming and makeup team did a good job with this adaptation especially with the blood soaked Carrie look in the latter part of the film.
When I look at casting for this film I think it showcased a lot of unknown actors to me and helped me see their talents for on screen work. I think Ansel Elgort did well here but the character of Tommy will definitely not be one of my favourite characters of his. Now, I do have a biased to Chloe Grace Moretz, as she is one of my favourite actresses of all time. Did I think she did brilliantly here? Absolutely. Was she the best pick to play the titular role of Carrie White? Not necessarily. I think Chloe is an amazing actress but she is a bit out of the realm of what I pictured Carrie looking like when I read the book and it took me a little while to get used to. Having said that though this has probably one of my favourite characters I've seen her play and I would love to watch the other adaptations of Carrie to see how the acting styles and the style of the character in general differs between adaptations.
Not incompetent, but corporate and soulless.
Watching it back to back with the original will make you understand how filmmaking can make all the difference.
It’s the same as the original with very little modification for the modern era, so it feels pointless?
At least the frankly terrible 2002 attempt changed things for the worse, this just replicates the original.
Man I'm so tired of this movie getting remade, I don't know why I wasted my time again.
wow this was bad why kill the whole class also the photograph XD
Wooden acting created drama rather than a horror. At least +1 for the ball final scene.
Chloe Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore lead the cast in the remake of the cult classic Carrie. Adapted from the Stephen King novel, after being ridiculed and pranked social outcast Carrie White takes revenge on her high school class. The writing is especially good; particularly at developing the story and at building suspense. And, Moretz does an excellent job at making Carrie a compelling and sympathetic character. Additionally, director Kimberly Peirce does an impressive job at staying character focused. Modernized for a new audience, Carrie is a chilling horror film.
A pretty faithful remake that I wasn't mad at....until the flying and the CGI blood happened. Nahhhhh
"Paybacks are a bitch yo"! I thought it was fitting for this movie, lol.
Well what can be said... It's a remake and a not good one like all the reboots out there! But the movie has some moments and some good photography! The first time in the closed was enjoyable! A very meh movie but in the end got some fucks outta me!
Stupid and boring remake and with this one are... countless! Glad I didn't pay cinema for this. Chloë Moretz's faces are ridiculous the whole movie and Julianne Moore is far from her best performances. Not recommended at all.
The plot is almost the same compared to the original, which is an AWESOME thing. Compared to another modern remakes, this is a masterpiece AND STOP THE DRAMA, of course this isn't scary for god's sake, we're on 2014.
I've seen the original years ago but don't really remember it... This was thoroughly enjoyable.
Now, I'll have to go back and watch the original again.
Well, I had no idea of the plot when I watched this movie. But I knew that it is something about blood - just by looking at the cover. ;)
I personally think it was a good remake. I did not get bored during watching, the characters were nice ... and the "Teenie" part was not toooo much. -The ending was good.
I found this to be an excellent remake of the original.. The characters were very believable and kept me entertained throughout the movie..
I've seen the "original" movie and have read the book in my younger years.. Still giving this a 10/10
This is a MEH movie i prefere the original!
Don't waste time or money seeing this movie.
Interesting movie, but i thought it ended way to quick. it was basically identical to the original but modern
sp1ti over here kinda sums up my feelings about this remake as well. They didn't make good enough of an effort to modernize this movie, no adding of actuallity makes this a poor attempt of a remake.. This crashed for me. Original is better in that sense.. I know the period-scene is one of the primaries.. but this scene and many others makes this a movie that people can't relate to in the internet-age that we're in.
I liked that Gabrielle was cast in this though.
Carrie 2013 is more dramatic, less horror. But actually liked the movie, with great plays by Juliane Moore and Chloe Grace Moretz. Two fine character roles by 2 great women. Not do happy with the ending, but overal I liked the new Carrie a lot.

The problem with this movie is that it's almost exactly the same as the original and is therefore pointless. Even with the fact it took place in the modern era, it still felt like the same movie. Yes the effects were "better" but that doesn't make it more interesting. Chloe Grace Moretz didn't even bring anything new to the role other than being way too attractive to be believed as a pariah.
