Brahms: The Boy II 2020

The first film was no classic of the genre, but it was perfectly watchable. The sequel, however, is pretty lame. With no scares, no coherency, and no point to it being made, there is no point in you watching it, unless you are a die-hard fan of horror doll movies.

The Boy II (AKA -How Desperate Katie Holmes is for a Role) is a think piece, as in 'I think it's a piece of garbage'.

Cliché, illogical and replete with WTFs... If you're not even going to try to make a good movie, what even is the point?

Cash Grab: The Boy II
clearly a knockoff of Annabelle , at this point - this second installment, Brahms, completely disregards the twist of first movie even though the original Director and Writer return and has zero nuance of tension or logical storyline.

This was just bad. "The Boy" the first movie in this series was no gem either but this was so much worse.

the first movie was beautifully done, not for the horror only but mostly for the plot twist how they made it look like supernatural at first
however this one .. ugh i don't understand why the bother tbvh, at first though i thought it was okay .. nothing scary and the story was going slow but not boring, then the ending happened and it was literally a catastrophe --"
even the doll backstory didn't match the movie which not only ruined the sequel movie but also the first movie :)

A little bit better than part 1 but the ending is crap so silly XD

ayyyy! RIGSBY! I haven't seen him since The Mentalist. Anyway, good pacing, good length, was not scary. The only reason I kept watching is just to see how it'll end this time. Smart dad. (kind of) since they forgot to destroy the mask too. Probably means there will be another sequel. Can I just say Rigsby looks great with his beard? yas! 6.5 rating at best. Probably won't watch it again, like the first one.

A betrayal of the original, Brahms: The Boy II is a rote supernatural thriller. After a home invitation a family moves to the countryside to help their traumatized son who’s gone mute, but when he finds an antic doll things take a frightening turn. Katie Holmes leads the cast but doesn’t do her best work, as the performances are all pretty weak. And the writing is incredibly poor; which is surprising given that it’s the same writer as the first film. The reconning of a supernatural element comes off as a desperate move and doesn’t feel like a natural progression of the story. Still, the mystery is intriguing and delivers some chills. Yet while it has its creepy and suspenseful moments, Brahms: The Boy II is a lazy and uninspired horror film.

Not a patch on the first film. Dull, predictable, no scares, bad.

The first Boy was an entertaining enough horror movie; a killer-doll film with a twist. Here we, more or less, have the same movie, only without the twist.
Brahms takes many of the same moments from the first movie, then sets it in a different direction. Ultimately, I felt this made the sequel weaker, but still pretty good.
What I liked about Brahms was that it was taken seriously. There is no comic relief, the acting is good, it's a straightforward horror movie that doesn't treat the audience like stupid children.
If you're someone who loves modern horror, complete with jump scares, you'll probably enjoy this.

what horror was this?! just a bunch of jumpscares

I wonder why they decided to throw away everything that made The Boy such a pleasant surprise to adopt the haunted/demonic doll trope and do absolutely nothing new with it. That was quite a choice and it was the wrong one.

This feels like a couple of dudes, after only watching the first half of The Boy, decided to make a cliché, nonsensical sequel.

So then, why is it that this movie was directed and written by the same crew as the first movie?

Bit confusing because it doesn't totally follow the origin of Brahms but overall it was creepy and I enjoyed it.

Plz help - this movie was actually pretty good.

I don't know why but Jude reminds me of Keri Russell. Anyway, had to get that out lol, the storyline's not too bad but I do wish they had a better ending than that. Not exactly a spoiler but I thought Jude would jump into the fire with Brahms and have a sad ending. I guess they figured they wanted to make Boy 3 or something. If there's a part 3 I'd definitely watch it. In conclusion, this show's worth a watch but not too great due to the fact that it's supposed to be horror but there was barely anything scary in the show (for me at least).

This is what counts for horror nowadays. Sad days.

Terrible, what is the point of a horror movie where no-one dies ?

This is a stand alone sequel that features a ex-hot Katie Holmes and a story centering around a home invasion and a creepy boy doll that could be Annabelle's rival in top creepy doll in movie history. It's watchable but won't be enjoyable unless you watch it in 2x speed.

Didnt expect much more than a comedy masquerading as a horror and that's what I got .
Still find that doll creepy AF though.
