Boogie 2021

This film had a great premise but suffered a lack of screenplay editing. The story was a mess of ideas that were not tied together effectively. As a result a great cast and incredible direction was wasted.

A little rough and ready at times but it’s not a bad film. Those who can identify with it culturally might get more from it.

I’m honestly trying to figure out if there was an actual script or was this whole thing improvised.

While for the most part Boogie may seem like a tonally confused, mess of a film, I find it to be more or less saved by its incredible amount of passion, great characters, and the few good actors that portray them. Especially Taylour Paige whose performance is as good if not better than her's in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. Can't wait for Zola.

How do you pick a 28 & 30 year old to play high schoolers? The story is soooo forced.

I’m seeing a lot of flaws in this movie already...

I saw this in theaters and the only other people in the theater were this pair of 80 year old white women who thought this was a re-issue of Boogie Nights.
