all of the cast were brilliant, especially rami in the lead as freddie!! very captivating, funny, and moving
good acting, good casting choices, good music, decent movie overall but not exciting enough for my taste
Excellent movie, a great celebration of Freddy Mercury's life. I went into the cinema being a casual fan of Queen and I literally haven't listened to any other band since. I do wish they would have gone more into detail but then again it's already 2 hours long. Rami Malek did a fantastic job,and so did the rest of the cast. Also I cried. A lot.
It's brilliant movie they said. You'll be crying they said.
Yes, it is and yes I did. Maybe Rami's face is not exactly like Freddie's but his performance.. it was something amazing and I'm totally in love with this movie. I have Queen fever after this movie.
I'm not gonna lie, I shed a tear.
Not my kind of choice of film but it wasn’t my choice and in the end it turned out to be a enjoyable film even thought i’m not a big queen fan but it was nice to know the beginning of a band that made success and (rami malek) did a fantastic performance.
Rami..fuckin..nailed it!... Welp! I'm a goddamn emotional wreck... I'm tokin and goin to bed..I bid you... adieu
Just watched. And it was a good movie. But epic performance of Rami. He deserves to win OSCAR...
I don't know how much of this is fact and how much of this is fiction but this is a tremendous, brilliantly written movie. Full disclosure, I was a folk girl, not much interested in hard rock, and that predisposition kept me from even wanting to see this movie. Then it was nominated for a Best Picture Oscar, so I took a deep breath and watched it and I'm not sure I ever had a chance to exhale. Dare I say, it completely took my breath away! And gave me a new appreciation for the music of Queen and the talent of Freddie Mercury. Rami Malek was brilliant. Allen Leech (far from Downton Abbey) earned our scorn. Lucy Boynton completely created the steadfast dedication of Mary Austin. No one is more surprised than I, but I give this movie a 9 (superb) out of 10. Nominated for 5 Oscars and I predict it will win 3. [BioPic Drama]
Now thats a movie. Something different from the bloody, space, robots and heart breaking stories that anyone knows already.
All crew was well chonen, but Malek born to it.
Two hours well spend.
Excellent movie. Rami Malek's performance is one of the best of the year.
The whole cast was really well chosen, but Malek...Oh, Malek did just a phenomenal job here! He really shows his caliber as an actor, absolutely worth seeing!
Absolutely perfect! Exactly what I hoped it would be: An affectionate, but objective biopic about Queen and their music. I'd heard about it being an emotional rollercoaster, and I must admit, one or two tears did roll down my cheeks. But I was quite relieved that it didn't dwell on the aids too much, as that's not what Freddie would have wanted. He kept on "fighting 'til the end", and the main focus of the film was their music.
Outstanding performances by all members of the cast, and whoever did the casting, make-up and costumes deserves an award. You really believed Gwilym Lee was Brian May, Ben Hardy was Roger Taylor and Joseph Mazello was John Deacon. They all looked spot on. Needless to say Rami Malek was just phenomenal as Freddie. Nobody could have played the part better.
The amount of work that has gone into the making of this film is absolutely mind-blowing. They have set the standard high for all future biopics to compete. I've never known anything like this film.
[5.8/10] If you put a thousand monkeys at a thousand typewriters and told them to make a music biopic, eventually they would come up with Bohemian Rhapsody. There is not much abjectly wrong with the film. There’s few points it doesn't deliver with all the force of a screeching high note, and its beats will be familiar to anyone who’s seen a rock star biopic before, but it is, by and large, capable at worst. The songs sound right. The trajectory has the expected ups and downs. And there’s even a few moments of jocularity and, on occasion, real honesty that let you see a hint of the genuine artistry Freddie Mercury himself brought to the table, peeking through.
But it is a film made of balsa wood, so flimsy and ultimately insubstantial that while you can faintly appreciate the shape what’s being built with it, the structure itself isn’t sturdy enough to support much of anything.
Bohemian Rhapsody, for the three people who’ve been living under a rock since 1968 and/or who can’t put two and two together, tells the story of the rise-and-fall-and-rise-again career of Queen, and its lead singer, Freddie Mercury, in particular. It charts Freddie and the band’s path from sulky pubs in London to headline tours of packed stadiums, with all the messy romance, professional peaks and valleys, and sex, drugs, and rock and roll that inevitably comes with it.
That’s the biggest sin of the film. Nothing in it surprises you. Even if you knew nothing about Queen’s superlative catalogue, even if you’d never heard of Freddie Mercury, even if you’d never seen a band biopic before, you’d still be able to see every damn beat of this thing coming from a mile away. Conflicts and plot obstacles are telegraphed from a mile away. Most of the characters have two-dimensions at most. And if that’s not enough to let you predict what’s going to come next, pretty much every thought or feeling the main characters have is vocalized right when it’s needed for the story.
It’s a dull story, particularly in the beginning when pretty much every chapter in the life of Queen consists of “nobody believed in us, but we did it anyway, and we succeeded because we’re great!” There’s little struggle or true hindrance for most of Bohemian Rhapsody. Instead, the bad guys tell Freddie & Co. no, and are either thwarted or jettisoned or recognize the group’s brilliance for what it is, so that our heroes can be Right All Along.
At the same times, its villains are thin and cartoonish, from the record company executive who likes their schlockiest song and tells them their record will never be head-bobbing hit (played, with rib-elbowing, audience-winking affinity by Mike Myers), to the insider turncoat who stabs his superior in the back, keeps away Freddie’s loved ones, and nigh single-handedly breaks up the band just long enough for them to reunite for even more triumph. As in all cinematic biographies where the living still have a degree of creative control, it’s clear who still has an ax to grind, and the line between the film’s heroes and villains is thick and obvious.
The only character who gets any complexity here is Freddie himself, which, given that he’s the star of the show and the film, isn’t a bad place to spend your ammunition. The best thing that can be said about Bohemian Rhapsody is that Rami Malek is clearly giving it his all as Mercury. He prances and preens and rocks on stage and manages to capture the late frontman’s kinetic energy as a performer. He delivers more than a few cutting or self-effacing remark with a wry, knowing style that makes Freddie lovable even when he’s being kind of a jerk. And while in the quieter moments Malek’s affectations can feel more like tics and bits of indicating rather than seamless facets of his character, he takes a script that does its central figures no favors and still manages to wring a modicum of feeling out of it in a few choices moments.
Bohemian Rhapsody’s best setting is when it eschews those dramatic monologues and failed attempts at being serious or making a statement, and instead just goes for being fun. Queen’s music is still infectiously great decades later. While the editing gets overly choppy, and a few performance scenes drag on too long, just the joy of recapturing some of those showmanship moments on the stage boosts the film. What’s more, despite the “it used to be about the music, man” conflicts within the band, there’s an amusing dynamic within the group, and the gags and sarcastic comments among them are endearing and deliver some genuine laughs.
But when the film is trying to sell the audience on the tragedy of a fatal illness, or mumbling through a barely-there story of immigrant family doubt and acceptance, or dragging the audience through the muck of yet another paint-by-number musician biography on the silver screen, it can’t help but exhaust you. Freddie Mercury’s heritage, his sexuality, his life and legacy and presence, are all more than enough to tell a story that does more than just hit the familiar notes; the frontman himself always did more than that.
Instead, Bohemian Rhapsody offers the viewer reheated band biopic leftovers, from a dish that’s capably made but overfamiliar, with little of the flair or distinction of its subject. If you just want to see Queen’s greatest musical hits done up with cinematic splendor, this is the movie for you. And if you want to see the band’s most iconic moments and inspirations dashed through with all the novelty of a rusty penny, all the better. And if you want the “greatest hits” of a Behind the Music-style narrative wrapped around Freddie Mercury’s shoulders like so many loud prints and epaulets, then you’ve come to the right film.
But if you want something that transcends genre, that elevates the form, and breaks with the standard playbook instead of deploying it with minimal passion, then just listen to Queen’s discography and leave this uninspired tribute to it in a musty old pub.
Historically not accurate, but I don’t care. The movie got me. Great actors. Great music. A great Band.
Rami Malek just won himself an Oscar. Don’t stop him now!
Rami Maleks acting is perfect, mimics, moves... you can see that he was into Mercury element! But also L. Bonyton played great as Mary, G. Lee as Brian and B. Hardy as Roger. So for acting cast has 10 from me! However since this is biopic there were slight changes in timeline (when Mercury found he has AIDS). Also if you ask me since we saw a lots of movies whit duration of 3 hours, since Bohemian Rhapsody song was 6 minutes long and since they skiped a lot of interesting points as during their tour in USA Brian collapsed as he was diagnosed with hepatitis (in movie other members are presented as polite guys and only Mercury was freak - but hepatitis did not came by itself), or their famous free concert in Hyde park London where 150.000 people listen them, or album Jazz and Don't stop me now song from that album that showed great vocal posibillities of all band members, or Game tour in Argentina where they had audience of 300.000 fans or Live in Rio, and what about collaborations... 1st time with Bowie in Under Pressure or Caballe in Barcelona... and what about the end and The show must go on...
So 45 minutes are missing... I do not care about Mercury's sex life as critics would like to see. If you ask me I enjoyed go to movie with my kids and show them what kind of music their parents were listening... as there is no band as Queen and probably will not be for a long time in future! For missing some important scenes from Queens great life I give 8. So all toghether it is great movie that I enjoyed watching and afer I came home ofcourse I tourned youtube and watched once again Queen at Wembley at Live Aid!
There's obviously some good intentions here, and Rami Malek is a decent Freddie Mercury (not to mention some other minor positives), but this film is just an objective mess. It's painfully uninteresting, terrible written, poorly shot and just overall bad.
Some people will love this, and that's fine. Good for you if you do.
Me personally, I hated it. But that's just me.
I enjoyed this movie. Amazing film.
I love Rami as Freddie! Good casting. I also love Freddie and Mary's friendship. I watched this movie a few times since it came out, I miss the scene and Queen is awesome. I took a point off because of a few seconds here and there that could have been a little better, but it's well done. Also the singer from MTL they had add lib certain lines to fit the movie (because solely using Freddie Mercury recordings wouldn't work in a script) sounds EXACTLY like him
I love that this story wasn't strictly about Freddie Mercury, because Queen, the BAND, was the phenomenon. But Freddie Mercury was such an incredible, electrifying talent and Rami Malek did a fantastic job portraying him.
Malek is good, but my god the movie is so generic and... mainstream. Feels like it's every aunt's favorite movie
Malek a 10, the movie as a whole a 4 so 6 it is.
Freddie Mercury and Queen finally get their big screen moment, after years in development hell, and the end result is more than a little overcooked. If there were a blueprint for making a safe rock biography, this would trust it like a Bible. It's so superficial and emotionally bland, I felt like I was watching a troupe of actors recite from the group's Wikipedia entry, with a few last-minute ninja edits tossed in to twist reality.
Everything looks polished and, of course, the soundtrack is spectacular, but it's tough to get excited about passive storytelling and a supporting cast that's, frankly, quite boring. I kept wondering if Brian May and Roger Taylor, the two original band members participating in the production, were too involved in how it played out. It's Mercury's story, of course, but the rest of the group is handled with such kid gloves that it's almost laughable. The worst thing said about Taylor is that he wrote a silly song about his car for the first album. Not that I'm looking for gossip, really; the whole thing is just so vanilla that a little grime and conflict would've gone a long way. Even when they're at-odds for a brief stretch near the climax, nobody's feathers seem terribly ruffled.
Glossy and colorful but emotionally shallow, Bohemian Rhapsody goes to great lengths to achieve mannequin-like visual authenticity, but pulls every gut punch.
It's times like this when I wish Trakt had a .5 system in its scoring. On the one hand, this is a by-the-numbers biopic that has a script deserving of a 7. On the other hand, Rami Malek's performance is electric, and so too, of course, is the music. A solid 8 should be a given then. So, what should I score the film? It's a 7.5 I guess, but as Trakt doesn't allow it, I am going to champion it with an 8.
Rami Malek’s performance was really excellent. It makes me sad that yet another musical genius had such an awful life. Really good movie.
Great movie I love It I want re watched
I cried for like half an hour while clutching my blankie. At the end, there were no mascara on my lashes and a shitton of mascara on my cheeks. I was wailing. And I don't cry often. I have tears in my eyes while I write it but Freddie wanted me to remember him bold and happy so it's time to be fucking bold and happy in his memory. We carry his legacy. We are Queen and Queen is in our hearts.
Freddie Mercury deserved better. Hell, all bisexual men deserve better than this piece of horse shit. Excuse the language, but fuck this movie. I cried throughout the whole movie, but for the wrong reasons. I don't even know why I bothered watching this.
I love Queen and their music and yet there is a lot of drama in their personal lives so I was worried about whether this would be all drama or all music, but they found a pretty good balancebetween the two. Yes, there was a lot of drama, especially revolving around Freddie, but it didn't totally drown out the music or the story of the band itself. The casting and acting was great and overall it was much better than I was originally expecting.
The music is no doubt the best part of the film. Acting is good, but I think some of the scenes are a little bit off. Overall, Rami Malek and the rest of the cast did their best. I hope this gets nominated for Oscars.
For those rating it a 10. I wonder if your rating it based on the subject or based on the movie. I guarantee every 10 would loose 2 points if it was some no name band.
This felt like a worse version of the Elton John one. 2 hours of focus on his sexuality...
Really wished they focussed more on the band or music. It basically was the most stereotypical band movie I've seen 5 times over.
Again... Not bad, but for a Queen movie,100% mediocre.
Bohemian Rhapsody is your usual music biopic that ticks off all the tropes like a shopping list.
After the parody Walk Hard, I thought these types of movies would be embarrassed to show their ugly heads again, I guess not.
Bohemian Rhapsody tells the story of the rise of one of the most iconic rock bands of all time, Queen, and one of the most flamboyant frontmen of all time, Freddie Mercury. The film was plagued with production issues, but with Dexter Fletcher at the helm, it finally made it to the big screen. Rami Malek gives a powerful performance as Mercury, capturing his swagger, mannerisms, charisma, energy, and insecurities. The film follows Mercury's journey, but also focuses on the band's creative process and their rise to fame. The concert scenes are well shot and the Live Aid performance is an excellent finale. Despite some inconsistencies in tone and style, the film manages to create a consistent vision. Some aspects of Mercury's life are left untouched, such as his upbringing and his battle with AIDS, but the film still provides a satisfying and enjoyable portrayal of the legendary musician.
i couldn't finish this movie because it was SO. BORING. the casting was great and i love queen, but i was just so uninterested.
I really do not have anything against him, but I can't fathom how Rami Malek won an award for 'Best Performance' when he barely had any spark, presence or gravitas like Freddie Mercury had. I'm sorry, but In my opinion, Taron Egerton did a much better job at playing 'Elton John' than he ever did as the lead singer of the band 'Queen'.
They are geniuses, when you are watching this you begin to pull together what you know about them and realise everything about them and their work was groundbreaking.
To be honest, I watched this when I had heard only one song 'we are the champions' from queen. Now as a die hard fan of Queen, I can say that this movie was wholesome. Also Nobody could have pulled off Freddy Mercury as well a Rami Malik.
Very good story good OST and OH Malek he is so good!
What an amazing movie... Excellent casting with extraordinary performances, and what a beautiful story. I wasn't a Queen fan till recently. Sure, I knew Bo-Rap and We Will Rock You but that was all. It's been 10 days since I last watched this movie and here I am watching it again, hooked on their amazing work.
We love you!
I've watched this film multiple times at this point and it still doesn't fail to impress me. It's amazingly acted, amazingly filmed and it's amazingly tear jerking.
Bohemian Rhapsody - the biopic of arguably the world's greatest band that's ever existed. Doing a biopic of Queen, is in my opinion a hard one to tackle but this was amazingly executed by all involved.
I thoroughly enjoyed this.
Too much of Queen for me...
I think this is one of those movies which will be counted among the greatest classics 50 years later.
Little boring in the middle part, but by the end I was in full on crying.
Got to know little bit of his backstory and of course hear all the awesome music
It is sooooo good, i cryed at the beautiful end of the movie
Just a good movie with OUTSTANDING performances and music!!
The acting is truly insane especially Rami Malek of course (everyone else did a great job too) and the music was great (it's a movie about Queen so that's expected) .. overall I really enjoyed this movie but it wasn't a GREAT movie, the acting and the music are what makes it stand out.
About the Historical inaccuries I'm not an expert of Queen's history so I can't comment on that part.
All of my points for this movie go to:
1) Rami Malek's superb acting
2) The recreation of the Live Aid concert.
3) Freddie's incredibly beatiful and powerful voice.
That's it. That's all there is.
While it may only scratch the surface, it's a strong, if formulaic biopic with Fantastic performances. I learned a bunch about the man, and the band dynamics. It's a moving story.
Awesome great actor great music
oscars best picture nom? not even near
You dont have to be a Queen lover to like Bohemian Rhapsody. It has soul of its own to be loved by anyone who enjoys a good story and good music in movies.
Excellent... I know some mistakes about the real story... but the film is amazing !
Rami Malek's best role in 2018.
Beutifly done! Rami did it again!
Amazing performances, tremendous
I absolutely loved it. Normally I avoid these kind of movies. They are dark, bleak and extremely sad. In general I don't want to see that about an artist's life. But this movie had the perfect mix. Not too much melodrama. It had enough drama and more importantly it had music and it was entertaining and musical. It was uplifting and truly celebrating an artist. Instead of being sad at the end, it made me feel happy.
Left me in tears. Absolutely amazing. The cast was brilliant, their chemistry was perfect. A truly wonderful way to tell the story of a legend. Loved it!
The truth is that I enjoy the movie very much. And more for the presence of Malek. As an actor says 360. It is true that Mercury's story has been modified in some way, but there is an adaptation that is worth seeing.
Great Movie! It’s a must see
Quite good Queen at concert. :)
It’s not surprising that Mike Myers is in this. When the agent, Paul is painted as a Rob Lowe Wayans World like villain. Scenes of Paul answering the phone and not letting loved ones talk to Freddy. While practically twirling his mustache felt too comical for a bio-pic.
While the pacing was pretty bad. With that said. The final scene is one of the best reactmemts ever.
The performances are perfect. It’s a shame the film jumps all over the place. It’s not like bio pictures haven’t in the past though.
I just felt like we barely know anyone as people. Before another song is being written or sang. Then the movie skips to something else and we don’t even know how many years have been skipped.
The film one second has Mary Austin as someone just listening to Freddy in the audience. Who seems impressed. The next second, they are dating.
The film thrusts us in the middle of Freddy in the band the same way. One minute he is a fan. The next, he’s a member and they are touring. When Rami Malek put so much into his performance. He deserved for the film to be better structured.
Still, Freddie’s last concert is so well reinacted. That I still have to strongly recommend the film. Definitely, still better than some critics have said. Despite the flaws.
Great RAMI MALEK but the plot....
Aeguably the best film of 2018!! You have to watch it! All good actors, fantastic performing, especially Rami Malek!
i think it's really impressive that this movie went for three hours and there weren't any lulls where i stopped paying attention for a bit
It was simply an anthem...... absolutely amazing!
The movie is so simple, but the cast and the music are incredible. Long live to the Queen.
The best part of this movie was the meta reference Mike Myers made and head banging to Bohemian Rhapsody. The music scenes are a lot of fun but this is just a generic biopic outside of that. It felt a little too long. I still feel like I know nothing about the other band members. Rami Malek was good but it doesn’t feel Oscar worthy.

Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury? --> ADD TO YOUR WATCH LIST
I can't remember the last time I cried while watching a movie. and I'm not an emotional person, but the ending scene was trully exceptional i just couldn't stop myself. the casting was amazing, Malek's performance was perfect as well 10/10
I just came back from watching this and OMG it was so AMAZING! I truly had my doubts about Rami Malek playing Freddie but he really outdid himself. He should be nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor and the movie should be nominated for Best Movie, or Documentary. It is really a great movie that will take you through the best part of Freddie and Queen's life. I am a bit sad that they didn't show the last years of his life, but otherwise it might take longer. (Which wouldn't be a bad thing in my opinion XD). The other actors really portrayed the band very well. It never felt like a true movie and the final 20 minutes are EPIC!!!
But I might be biased I grew up as a Queen fan...
One of the best movies of 2018. What an emotional journey. And that is mainly thanks to Rami Malek how gives a remarkable performance. He brings Freddie Mercury back to life and he should get the Oscar for this.
Now, I wouldn't call myself a Queen fan. I like a lot of their music but only at certain times. But I clearly have a way better understanding of some of the lyrics and will hear the songs with a different view from now on.
Malek was without any doubt the best part of the movie. pretty much in the average everything else. the only thing that could stand out the most is the overall visual fidelity of the actors and the sets. despite several story inaccuracies with the real facts, I must say that this adaptation really nails the essence of the band and their members delivering a, lighter than it could have been, but enjoyable experience, thanks for the most part to the beautiful soundtrack (of course it is). without queen this would have been a forgettable film with a decent but not even too much quality. but let's be honest, no one cares about this, we wanted queen... and they gave us queen!. So I can consider myself satisfied with what I saw, and so will be lots of others. don't take it so personal, it's an idealised version of the real story that really gets things on point in regards of feelings and visuals. all the actors did an incredible job recreating their real counterparts, spending time and efforts studying the real concerts and interviews. you won't spend a single minute without dancing and singing along those iconic songs. don't feel bothered by it's simplicity or the thought of what it could have been. they put heart in it, and it really shows.
Directed by Bryan Singer, Rami's performance of Freddie Mercury is not to be overlooked. Grab yourself a good set of speakers, turn up your music and piss off your roommates. Immerse yourself in the life story of Queen and Freddie Mercury. Rami diversifies his traditional role as an actor (best known as being Elliot in Mr. Robot), and pushes himself to his outer limits: making the film stand out in sexuality, music and theme.
In sets of two, the film artfully thrusts the viewer into the love, the joy that Freddie immersed himself in every day he lived. This documentary, marked up by the most inspiring moments in Mercury's career is highly polished.
There is little structure or time periods labeled clearly for the viewer, making it a guessing game as to how many years it has skipped. Nonetheless, this film is inspiring and is a great tribute to Freddie and his Career.
TL;DR: Rami does good performance, get out the old tube amp and watch it for yourself.
An amazing film about an amazingly talented man (and of course the rest of the band Queen who are equally as amazing!) Really interesting to learn the backstories!
Two good things about this movie. Malek’s performance as Freddy, and the final Live Aid performance (except for the terrible CGI crowd).
This movie just has no direction. What was the point? It felt like someone telling a story and joining the key events with “and then this happened.... and then this happend... and finally, this happened”.
And don’t get me started about the fact the main love story in the movie was a heterosexual one, about the life of a well known gay man.
This movie had so much potential, given Freddy’s amazing life. Yet they serve this up. Really didn’t enjoy this.
In many ways, Bohemian Rhapsody is nothing but a generic biopic. The first scene takes us right to the final moments of the film and sets the tone for the rest of the feature. It takes some artistic freedom and creative shortcuts in its storytelling for everyone's viewing pleasure. In other ways, this biographical extravaganza is much more than just your average biopic. It's the story of one of the greatest rock bands in our times and it has both killer performances and a killer soundtrack. Rami Malek has earned his Oscar, for sure!
The story itself flows nicely, mostly because it goes into the actual Queen phase quite quickly without proper introduction of the central characters. Hardcore Queen fans are surely going to enjoy this movie from the go, but casual viewers will be drawn in by the time the movie shows the creation of Bohemian Rhapsody. The middle part of the movie slows thing down a bit, focuses on Freddie's eccentric side, and tones down the band itself. It's all a build up to the spectacular Live Aid-concert; the 20-minute long closing sequence of the film, carefully reconstructed based on the legendary performance given by Queen in the summer of 1985.
Bohemian Rhapsody is at its peak when it shows the band working together creating some of the timeless rock classics. The rest of the film never really stands out, even if Malek and the rest of the cast manage to deliver some good dramatic moments. I would have wished to see more Queen, more music and simply a story with an actual end.
Fantastic movie! I am from India
Went to see Bohemian Rhapsody yesterday. I was quite surprised that Malek's weird eyes didn't bother me nearly as much as I had expected, but his acting was really off mark for the first half of the film. Thankfully he found his feet when we got to the 80's and from then on it was great, even if he never did quite get his intonation right. The thing I found really weird about the movie was all the odd changes and omissions (made even more odd considering how closely the remaining band members were involved with the films production). Amongst other things, how the band got together was wrong, how Freddie met Jim was wrong, hell, even the band splitting up was wrong. The casting was spectacular though, practically everybody looked, sounded, and acted just like the people they were portraying. So much so that I actually thought Dermot Murphy who plays Bob Geldof was actually archive footage of Geldof cut into the movie when he first appeared. If you are a die-hard Queen fan (like I am) you will be a bit annoyed at the discrepancies, but regardless it's still well worth checking out.
Brilliant! Brilliant! Brilliant! simply Brilliant!
Rami Malek rocks. Amazing actor.
No onion ninjas this time...
Just me, shedding manly tears.
I love Queen!
I am sure Freddie is still the best preformer up there too.
Oh, and 20th century's Fox May's guitar sound cought me tottaly surprised I almost spill my glass running to the screen. Awesome!
This is a good movie, but it's not a true biopic of Queen. There are too many historical inaccuracies and creative writing for it to be accurate. Not forgetting at least one anachronistic piece of music (Who Wants to Live Forever played as background music in a scene about a year before the song was released).
Cast-wise, they got it pretty much spot on with the people who really existed (with the exception of Roger's hair - that never seemed right for some reason!) but glossed over a lot of what I was really hoping to see.
Still, as a fan of Queen, I enjoyed the film and if you can overlook the inaccuracies it's worth I a watch. I'm still waiting for the definitive Queen biopic though.
Rami Malek's performance was just outstanding, I literally cried in his scenes. He deserves to win the academy awards.
I agree this is a great movie!! Great performance great OST!
Excellent biopic. Mercury is brought to life with all his insecurities (and his darker tastes) brilliantly by Malek. The other members of the band are brilliantly handled by the cast. At heart this is a love story about a man that loved too much.
Really enjoyed this film. As a lifelong fan of Queen and Freddie Mercury, I noticed a few times where they changed things for dramatic tension, but overall it really hit the high and low points of their stories, especially Mercury's struggles with his sexual identity. The performance by Rami Malek is why they invented the "Best Actor" category--if he doesn't win, I'm not sure anyone should.
This movie is amazing. I can't wait to watch it again.
On first watch, it’s easy to like. Everyone playing the members of Queen are fantastic, and of course the music is great. After watching it, and walking out liking it, I thought about it more. That’s when I realized the music and performances of 3 actors was really all there was. The story’s been changed in favor of a cliched comedy-back narrative, most of the other characters, save for Lucy Boynton’s, were pretty forgettable. Honestly, I’d rather just watch a recorded Queen concert.
Oh thank god’s they started bickering toward the second half. I thought at first they wanted to portray Queen as a unicorn band who never fought.
And it’s always the singers who go down the drain, lonely and destroyed.
Filming the crowd at the live aid concert had some little jewels. Like the generations of fans, tears… crazy to get so big as Queen. So overwhelming.
Also thank god for cats.
As a huge queen fan I adored this film! Rami plays the most amazing version of Freddie mercury!
Got to say upfront that I'm not the biggest fan of this band; I find most of their songs lacking, which is often covered up with a sense of kitsch and theatricality. This might've subconsciously influenced my opinion, but having said that: this movie feels too generic and sanitized, strongly lacking in focus. I don't get why movies like this always feel the need to cover the entirety of someone's career/life, it's unnecessary and boring. This 'greatest hits compilation' approach leads to a film that's a bunch of clichés strung together into a narrative. Some of the editing isn't great, the pacing drags, it's very predictable, but Rami Malek's performance makes up for a lot. Just listen to a Queen record if you're in the mood, you'll probably get more out of it compared to watching this.
4.5/10
One of the best actings I have ever seen. Played by the main actor Rami Malek, who vibrates every part of his mustache, the history drama gets enormous authenticity based on Freddy Mercury's life. Very well implemented, extremely well acted and of course good music make the movie great.
However, it was quite a lot in quite a short time.
I was not bored by it, which is a good thing i guess, but it the most basic film. The editing sucks, sound design was kinda bad. The strongest aspect and the main reason anyone would like this film is Rami Maleck, he steals the show. There are a lot of things i just dont like after seeing a better version with Rocketman, that has better ideas and is far more creative.
The film is not exactly pretty yet not ugly, some choices are just funny.
I just cant excuse those last minutes, they are great recreation, but a sucky scene. Its like my recreation of the bullet time in Matrix, it sucks but sure is impressive.
Wonderful film, Rami Malek as Freddie did an absolutely great performance.
In my opinion, 'Bohemian Rhapsody' is an entertaining biopic but I think that perhaps something superficial, in which Malek's excellent performance and the ability to make us vibrate during its final stretch stand out, partly compensates for the fact that I didn't want to delve into a series of plots that would have made the final result richer.
‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ [10/10]
There are many reasons why I'll always love and cherish this film. Yes, there may be some inaccuracies, yes, it was mainly focused on Freddie rather than on the entire group, but it was still delivered in the most beautiful way. Although many do think the film has way too many scenes where Freddie uses drugs and acts violently - because he wasn't that rough in real life - however, if we do ignore those scenes - which we cannot entirely - the film would be seen better and most positively.
I cannot change people's thoughts or their minds for this film that has brought me joy so many times - since I've watched a couple of hundred times - but I'm sure that there are people out there who do agree with me. The film isn't about the '80s, about HIV, about why Freddie may be a bad influence on our children - it's about a man who changed many people's lives with his music and love for every single person.
This film was created to cherish the beautiful life of Freddie Mercury, and it will always have a special place in my heart.
Celebration of Freddie’s life. But has a lack of accurate and tension.
