Before the Devil Knows You're Dead 2007

This is ther rare movie that I seemed to like a little less after I had time to digest it. Don't get me wrong - it was still a very good movie and I enjoyed both the story and the performances. I think what threw me off a little was that the story was told in varying sequences. The movie starts in the middle of the story and then shows how you got there and then jumped back to real-time. The viewer is always conscious of where he is in the story but the whole time I had the feeling that the sequence came into play somehow (as it did in movies like Memento). However, it did not.

There are some.... memorable... scenes.

But the devil learns quickly. Marisa Tomei gives the C's.

This is apperently Sidney Lumet's last film and it is masterfully directed. It's a pretty good film overall with some great performances, but the direction is especially well done. Good swan song for Lumet.

Pretty good movie - odd title. The description from Trakt is spot on. Enjoyed it enough to give it 8.5/10
