[FF Gent] One of those documentaries that unfortunately does little justice to its protagonist. It is surprising that the director denounces the lack of knowledge of a film pioneer, whose relevance has been forgotten by a story written by men, but instead of focusing on her work and her personality, she builds a film that revolves around her own Google-research on the material, leaving (once again) Alice Guy in the background. The film pretends to be dynamic and ends up being messy, pretends to be enlightening and ends up being confusing, offering pointless interviews with Hollywood figures who don't have much to say, and underusing interesting archival interviews from 1957 and 1964. The documentary follows a path that ends being frustrating, it's a mediocre approach to a fascinating figure.
