If you treat this as a stand-alone, then it's OK. But, since it's a prequel, it needs to be judged by the standard of the thing it's intended to be part of. On that criterion, it fails. The story is predictable; our hero is redeemed by the fire of battle. It doesn't add much, if anything, to the re-booted BSG franchise.

Maybe, if you're a BSG completist, you might watch it once. As I have. But that's all.
