Batman: Gotham by Gaslight 2018

A very good adaptation of possibly the first elseworlds comic. Where Batman is placed in the Victorian era to square off against Jack the Ripper. It's dark and a refreshing take on this character. Again, why can't the live action movies be as good as these animated ones...?!

Despite being marred by some hinky, jittery animation and some weird script moments, Gotham by Gaslight is an enjoyable departure with great voice work and a magnificent design.

The Batman animated films with Bruce Greenwood voicing him have been pretty solid so far.
Batman vs Jack the Ripper is better than you’d think. With Batman and some of his foes living in the 1800’s.
There’s some twists and turns that you don’t expect at all. I wouldn’t mind them making more like it.

That's a great new take on the Batman tale. Would have loved to see something like this as a live action movie.

Don't know why it took DC so long to figure out that an edgier, imperfect Batman was a financial boon!

After watching it, I honestly didn't know what to write. The movie's solid, I'll give them that. There's a lot of action and and I got totally surprised throughout the movie. People who won't understand the characters have to take in consideration that this is a whole different universe/timeline. Lack of character development was the only thing that kept me from giving it an 8/10.

The movie is over but not over. A better ending was missing. the impression I had is that they shortened the film.

Brilliant action scenes. That may be attributed to so many Japanese minds behind the movie. Most of the characters, though, lack depth and development, making it hard to get into if you are not quite familiar with the characters.
