I'm trying to go through the entire Annabelle/Conjuring franchise and this has been the weakest so far. Scary enough in places but so inconceivable and far-fetched that it was difficult to get through. Way too much teen drama for it to ever really count as a true "horror" movie; this was all about "Bob Has Hormones" and his lust for the cute babysitter. Completely stupid and - unlike some of the others (to date), this one had NO sense of "believability" to it. Tantamount to every "scary movie" spoof that you see, this was filled with "Don't go in there!" "Don't open that door!" "Don't touch that!" scenes that were eyeroll-worthy. If, like me, your OCD insists - yea, DEMANDS - that you have to watch all of the movies to complete the franchise, then just make sure you have your smartphone handy so you can play a game, surf the web, or IM your friends while a huge part of this one is rolling.
Maybe the best part was the end credit visuals with Dancing In the Moonlight playing in the background. Movie was meh.
So full of cliches it's actually really funny. And also extremely boring.
Wasn't really scary. enjoyable but not great
Like a caustic mugger, this film insults your intelligence while it takes your money.
Annabelle Comes Home must be a children's horror film because not only are there no deaths, none of the characters gets so much as a stubbed toe! Seriously, how is that horror!?
To make matters worse, the plot had potential. Imagine if all of the evil locked away in the Warren's secret room were released. Could be scary, right? Not on director Gary Dauberman's watch. The entire catalogue of terrors kept in their home museum is reduced to nothing more than poorly executed jump scares in which growing suspense comes across as increasing boredom.
And not only is they story shite, the filmmaking isn't any better! Here, for example, are the WTFs I noticed without even trying:
- A babysitter never spends time with her charge and
- Leaves her friend alone to wander unsupervised about her employer's house of horrors
- Keys disappear and reappear and not in a ghostly way but a shite editing way
- Cakes that vary in number while cooking and are ruined and then normal
- Messes that are made and clean themselves up (in the literal sense and not in the script, unfortunately)
And those are just the things I noticed in passing. Imagine if I cared enough about the film to pay attention!?
Was kinda forced to watch this because my girlfriend likes the genre and since I'm not a fan, I can say that this was according to my expectations, so bad that it's laughable :joy:
Cliche as fucc, almost every scene was predictable
I can't believe there are now four movies around a doll that doesn't do anything.
I'm glad Vera & Patrick were apart of this one even tho they weren't in it that much because they're a big part of the horror franchises and also James Wan should be a part of all. I've got to say I enjoyed this one but doesn't live up to the second film tho but a nice try and loved that they've shoved in easter eggs from other films in the franchise other than Annabelle aka (bitch) also it had a strong cast and the horror effects were cool.
There's so much more they could do with this franchise's universe maybe make a series and each episode is based on a different cursed item that was in the room but only if Vera,Patrick & james are part of it. Bring on conjuring part 3!
The plot is a bit weak, but it's suspenseful as for a horror movie.
Don't waste your time on this one, it only works if you are a teenager or it's your first horror movieDont waste your time on this one, it only woks if you are a tennager or its your first horror movie
Saw it once with my sister. It's the best of the bunch in my opinion. Definitely will pay theater price to see it again with the wife.
Good cast and good movie, but it needed a whole lot less of the sunshiny vibe. I forgot I was watching a horror half the time. The only "scary" part that got me was the loud running and stomping of the bride at the theatre.
amazing movie awesome AnnabelleEnjoyable watch for fans
It fits well into the Conjuring/Annabelle series and is a nice wrap-up to the lore of Annabelle and the Warrens, but as a stand-alone horror movie, it doesn't quite hit the mark in terms of how scary it was. Enjoyable watch for fans of the series.
It's short and does not even have a well taken horror scene.I hate the way they did this.Seriously, who would want to watch a comedy-horror kind in conjuring universe?!They forgot the whole point of the series
Not going to lie, I was expecting hoping for more Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga.
I enjoyed this sequel to the Annabelle films. Annabelle creation is still my favourite, but I enjoyed the focus on Judy (the warren;s daughter)
Seeing all of the items come to live was well done and creative. Not a freaky as previous movies. But was decent. Heartwarming ending too
I really hope that after this movie, it's over with the Annabelle spinoff series. Once again, all the characters act incomprehensible and stupid. There are far too many boring phases, and the titular doll is still not creepy except for its look. Apart from that, not much happens for a long time, until at the end everything culminates again in a movie-like ghost train ride that relies solely on ineffective jump scares. Meanwhile, those who hope that the Warrens will play a bigger role will be disappointed. Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson don't make more than a small cameo appearance. The rest can't keep up, although at least Mckenna Grace and Madison Iseman don't do a completely bad job. In the end, however, "Annabelle Comes Home" amounts to little more than a tedious jump-scare fest.
We finally get to explore that room! I've been watching The Conjuring movies for years and couldn't wait for this moment. Although this isn't the scariest movie of the franchise (maybe the less scariest), I liked a lot the salt of 'teen drama' and also the story, as usual for almost all the movies of this franchise.
For people expecting to see basic blood killing scenes, The Conjuring Universe isn't made for you.
To begin, I like all of the movies in the Conjuring universe. Annabelle Comes Home is good, however it doesn't have the same level of scares as the other movies. Ed, and Lorraine take a backseat during the entire second act, instead we are with their daughter, Judy. I get the feeling this is geared toward a younger audience, while still being entertaining for horror fans overall. Most of the effects are practical, there is only one brief moment of bad CGI.
ACH isn't trying to reinvent the wheel, if you like this style of horror movie, you'll like this as well. The actors all do a great job. The lighting, and camera work are great. I thought the writing was good in terms of explaining why some characters would do what the audience knows is a bad idea. There were a few silly moments, but nothing that was out of place for the situation - no inappropriate
comic relief.
I'll likely watch this one every October. Totally worth a view.
The most infuriating aspect of this movie is that you hope for every miserable character to die only to be denied this satisfactory resolution
The film actually has fairly good production values, but the constant heavy breathing, jumpscares/deliberate slow movements to up the tension, and people (person) doing stupid things to trigger the whole slew of events just do not sit well. (I know, scary movie tropes and all, but good horror movies are made without an abundance of such tropes.)
No matter how much one feels guilty, or how much one wishes to meet with your deceased parent again, it is never justification enough for disrespecting of others' property and purposeful trespassing. I had hoped this disrespectful idiot dies first and not pull others down with her but to my surprise, this film had no fatal casualty and actually had a complete happy ending. I give +1 for that.
film made just to scare and profit. there is no coherence in the plot.
Quite fun, creepy and even touching at times. I haven’t seen the first Annabelle but I liked this more than the second one. Though it could have pulled off a PG-13 rating.
I doubt any good parent would leave a kid with a babysitter in this house.
Has its moments but nothing to really wake jaded horror fans out of their slumber.
This trilogy need to have a end of horror, it was not so good like the first one and the last.
Three girls triyng to survive, its like ather movies, nothing is not new
Another movie that wasn't scary. I'm surprised no one died.
Annabelle Comes Home isn’t as strong as the main Conjuring movies, but it’s high quality compared to the other spin offs. The horror here doesn’t try to make you wet yourselves but it’s still done tactfully to give you shivers at times and a jump at others. The characters aren’t super deep, but are given enough to keep them from being disposable.
The Annabelle trilogy comes to in end in Annabelle Comes Home. While babysitting Judy Warren, Mary Ellen and her friend unwittingly release the Annabelle doll from its confines in the Warren’s artifact room, along with several other cursed objects, which then proceed to attack the girls. Despite the title, the film isn’t really about Annabelle; as she’s only one of several cursed objects that have to be overcome. Still, the writers come up with some rather creative and frightening demonic spirits. And, they do a good job at building suspense and tension. Yet it holds back on the blood and violence, not really earning its R rating. Annabelle Comes Home is one of the weaker entries in the series, but it still delivers some good scares.
It's mediocre and needed more of the Warrens.
I actually enjoyed it. There were some parts which were really awesome. Too bad Warrens didn't get more space
Ultimately climaxing in what can only be described as a horror funhouse on film, Annabelle Comes Home continues the Conjuring-verses tradition of being, solid, polished yet passable entries in the genre. Some very good camerawork and eyecatching cinematography cannot save ACH from it's trite, tropey plot, but if taken totally at face value, one cannot deny that it's a fun ride while it lasts.
Maybe this universe is dying. But the film is still as solid as always.
Guess this doesn't really fall under the horror genre. It's an ok addition to the storyline, but nothing more than that. Pretty boring and predictable.
Shouldn't have had any expectations. Premise had potential and i thought it was really going to be something, but it was a let down, for me! Jumpscares are for kids, this movie forgot who their Target audience is.
Too many stubborn decision makings, which made the story predictable. I liked the way it started, hated the way how it ended.
Movie is very good, but if you get an expectation on the evolution of the story here you won't find it.
Probably my least favourite of the movies in this franchise. What made me love these stories from the start was the Ed and Lorraine Warren and the story of what they do....this movie didn't really have any of that which is why I felt it was lacking. Enjoyable movie but not my favourite - although I will say that Mckenna Grace was excellent as Judy (she is a great young actress that seems to be popping up in more and more things).
I fell asleep watching this, I missed the ending so I will go back and watch it again from the last point I can remember.
However, given the fact that I did fall asleep, I would not recommend this from my first viewing
Pure rubbish don't waste your time
Watched it earlier tonight and it was just OK. I didn't really think it was scary at all. Shoot, we even laughed a few times.
I've never found any movie with dolls or possession in general to be very scary (save the tiki doll in Trilogy of Terror). The 1st two Annabelle movies were decent. I'd have to say I liked this one best out of the three.

It is definitely gonna be the best Horror Film of 2019. Some of the scenes really got me. Unlike the previous part (Annabelle: Creation) this one has more Horror Stock than laughing. I'll definitely recommend it!
