Adult Swim Yule Log 2022

What an unexpected treat. I think it starts stronger than it finished, when it gets too bogged down in itself and it's various concepts instead of just sticking with the killer conceit it starts with, but it's still a fun time. A cabin that attracts all these cliche concepts clearly taking cues from Chainsaw Massacre, Twin Peaks, Rubber, today's elevated horror, and more and intersecting against each other is a really good hook. I think it then sadly gets caught up in the elevated horror side and doesn't have the finesse or ability to stick the themes and subjects it tackles. But you can't fault the ambition, and like any fireplace, it's great to have on for a night.

I really liked the first half of it but it kind of lost me towards the end.

"It's gonna burn us alive!"

Airbnb goes wrong, again... This time it's a murderous cursed Log from hell doing mayhem on a group of adults. There's also a few other cool elements thrown in that you'll never predict. It was absolutely hilarious and keeps giving you unexpected twists. Strong performances from Charles Green (Little Guy in Fire) and Tordy Clark (Mother): Didn't know pimento cheese could be a kink. The budget and CGI feels like highschool project level but the flamboyant camerawork, acting, inventive story, unique structure and use of so many different genres make it an entertaining and unique watch.
