A Very Murray Christmas 2015

It took a while to get going but was really quite lovely in the end. Clooney was very funny in his brief appearance, Miley Cyrus gave a surprisingly gorgeous rendition of "Silent Night" and I was pleasantly surprised by Rashida Jones' singing - perhaps her father gave her some guidance. I definitely had the warm and fuzzies by its conclusion.

Come on Sofia Coppola and Murray. Both of you are better than this.

Oh and George Clooney singing "Santa Wants Some Loving" was hands down the best part of this whole movie.

Definitely a strange one. Amazing vocals though. It does make you feel somewhat warm and fuzzy.

7.8/10. This was an interesting mix between the wry melancholy of Coppola/Murray collaborations like Lost in Translation, and the sort of casual, musical whimsy of the old 50s and 60s Christmas specials. That means that the tone was often a bit inconsistent, but it was still an enjoyable ride for the most part. I would cut pretty much everything between when Murray falls of the bench and when he wakes up at the end (Miley and Clooney added very little to the proceedings), but otherwise I enjoyed the opportunity for Murray to be both goofy and despondent, and the various musical performances. Comedically, Chris Rock stood out as hilarious in his brief appearance, and musically, Jenny Lewis was amazing as always. Quite a fun special that could have trimmed some of the fat, but still had a great deal of good material in it.

A Christmas movie with lots of random songs and George Clooney singing behind a decorated tree.

Even if it's greatly shot by Coppola the story is inexistant et you don't give a shit about it or the characters. All they do is sing (and very poorly for most of them). I just lost an hour of my life.

From Netflix comes the holiday special A Very Murray Christmas. Actually, it’s kind of an anti-holiday special as it’s setup as a holiday variety show hosted by Bill Murray that gets cancelled by a snow storm; leaving Murray to mill around the hotel singing melancholy Christmas songs and socializing with hotel guests and staff. The special guests include Paul Shaffer, George Clooney, Miley Cyrus, Rashida Jones, Chris Rock, and Amy Poehler, some playing themselves and others playing characters. It all works surprisingly well, playing into Murray’s sarcastic band of humor while still having a festive, Christmassy spirit. Also, the nontraditional songs, such as “Christmas Blues,” “Alone on Christmas Day,” and “Santa Claus Wants Some Lovin,” do a good job at setting the tone. It’s not for everyone, but A Very Murray Christmas is an entertaining holiday special that, in its own way, celebrates the season.

I don't get musicals but I enjoyed this movie. The singing didn't look out of place or random.

Really loved Miley Cyrus in this one

Not everyone plays themselves like it is listed. Chris Rock does though and is funny in a scene where Murray forces him to do a duet. When he doesn't like singing.
While Miley Cryrus actually isn't bad in her appearance. A Very Murray Christmas is a cute little musical for adults. It has it's slow moments but it's also occasionally fun.
