A History of Violence 2005

I’ve always thought this film was a little short and could been more to it but still it’s a well made film with a super performance from Aragon... I mean Viggo

Not sure what it is about this movie.. but I love it! Watched it like 50 times... It's hit or miss with most people.

A History of Violence was an interesting movie. I found the plot intriguing and it was superbly directed and acted. I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about it though. My only real complaint is that the scenes with the older son seemed awkward and just inserted for the sake of it at first, but even that ended up serving a purpose later on, though it did ruin my suspension of disbelief earlier on. Besides that, the pacing was really well-done, Mortensen’s fantastic and the violence was thrilling. All the parts of the film work really well and it definitely raises some interesting questions but... I don't know. I guess I'm still sort of mulling it over.

A very different movie than what I was expecting, in a good way!

I never knew what was going to happen next, I was intrigued and it was intense. I really loved the first hour orso but after something big happens, it gets a bit less interesting to me.

Movie meh, if they had developed the story better, for example by explaining the various backstories of the characters a little more, it would definitely have been more interesting. All in all, not bad, watchable

For a 1,5 hour movie, it takes quite a long time to spin it. However, Viggo finally takes matters into his own hands and we have the finale. Ps. the scene in the epilogue does its job well.

The movie's theme is about past: No matter how much you trie to forget, it'll hunt you. In this movie, we follow the story of a normal guy, named Tom, and his relationship with his family, but everything changes after he react to a trie of assault and murder at the place he works, becoming a local hero. The film is okay, we have good actings, the story mantain us engage.

I love Cronenberg but this movie has always rubbed me the wrong way. I watched it in film school and we read the graphic novel it was based on and didn't like it then. I rewatched it tonight to get psyched for the 8 Cronenberg films I'll be seeing this weekend at Beyond Fest (!!!!) but still...something is off. The acting is just so weird from Viggo and William Hurt. So weird.

A little too slow for my preferences and background doesnt help at all..Nothing special except from Maria's Bello perfomance which was great..Plot is simple and nothing unique. 6,6/10

Brutal and sometimes rather boring movie about the ex-killer Joey Cusack from Philadelphia who started a new life as "Tom Stall", the friendly coffee-shop owner, in the nowhere of America. But one day, when two armed men try to rob his shop, he's forced to kill the two attackers and therefore gets known nationwide. And this is when his old enemies from Philly try to hunt him down while Stall denies his past, even to his wive and kids...
