A Dark Song 2016

great movie, you should check this, original, kinda deep and dark, loved it 9/10

(it's also 'slow', which is a plus, not like the teen jump scary boring festival we are used to)

Intriguing.. also because the down to earth approach it has yet making the sataniic ritual believable.. I'm happy the occult genre gets more attention nowadays so this small film had my attention for sure. The ending leaves some people divided but for me it's actually refreshing. Stay pure.........

I love a good slow burn. This isn't your typical horror film. It really dives into a realistic approach into dark ritual and treating it more like a procedure to follow, something that can be tapped into if you're willing to go through its hard and complex steps. The entire film is about that single ritual. It skillfully builds up an oppressive atmosphere and succeeds in immersing you in its isolated setting. There's a great sense of intrigue as the ritual slowly builds and the details put into it is also fascinating. For me the highlight is the sound design, because that's what makes this film a truly haunting experience. The two leads are absolutely great, and they have this incredible intensity that carry the film through it's slow burn. I really enjoyed this one.

I almost nodded off a couple of times. It's like they made up the plot as they went along—the ending was so random and weird.

Deeply disturbing, pulls you in fully unlike the other dime-a-dozen horror films of this sort. I was standing by the end, what a beauty!

Don't go with the reviews and ratings. This was horrible.

What a pleasant surprise! Original, great acting, nice arc, kept me on my toes without cheap theatrics and jump scares, interesting philosophical aspects, superb ending! 9/10

An interesting premise, but it falls flat. Despite keeping me intrigued and initially enjoying it, its ending is anticlimactic and confusing. Solomon is unlikeable and Sofia is meh. The lead-up went on for so long, it got boring. And then the final 20 minutes happened... Frustrating is one way to put it, a waste of time is another.

The only good thing was the suspense, but you can't ride that out for and hour and a half.

This is certainly a horror film, but not to my taste; it’s creepily unsettling at times and not in a good way.

Horror is my favourite genre and never get nightmares, but this one gave me a very unsettled night.

Despite not wanting to watch it again ever, it is cleverly done. It holds you in suspense as you can’t guess the plot. Additionally, it breaks free from your normal hero main characters too. It’s left open to interpretation, but yet has a strong moral message.

It’s slow, but maybe a good watch for those who don’t have a faint heart. I suppose I found parts a bit grime or sickening and that’s why I didn’t like it. I certainly wouldn’t wanted to watch it with anyone else.

It’s certainly very different.

Good acting. First half was great. Second slowed down and then completely changed into another movie.

While the movie didn't win me over to the dark side of its magical pull - I am dead against anything to do with the occult for starters - it did show some imagination, though I am hesitant to recommend the film. A good effort, and some will love it, but I will put it to rest now i've seen it.

An effective, atmospheric slow-burn. I liked how detailed they were with the occult rituals. It was interesting. I'll be keeping my eye on this director.
