As an 80s kid myself, this movie hit me right in the feels. It captured the era well, especially in relation to the longing many of us had for Nintendo, cabbage patch dolls and anything that wasn’t a Light Brite! As has been said on here already, it is a lot like A Christmas Story with its sense of nostalgia and great sense of humour. A heartwarming delight.
Surprisingly well done. I'm a little old for the Nintendo (I was more of the Atari era) but you can relate to the kids and the time, nonetheless. Fun flick. The parents, in particular, were well played.
I enjoyed this a lot. Nostalgic and fun. With good family undertones. This was a great Christmas movie without too many gratuitous gimmicks. The twist was good too which is not easy in such a standard mold.
For much of the film I was content to be watching a family christmas film that greatly (ahem) borrowed from my favorite movie (A Christmas Story). Sure, they updated it in several areas and changed a few things around but the main parts of the story were taken right out of the original. I was about to write this one off as another mediocre Christmas movie re-make (I am looking at you, Home Sweet Home Alone) when all of the sudden it no longer was like the original. If you're looking for a Christmas movie to watch with the family you could do worse than this movie. My kids actually clapped when it ended and that never happens.

A waste of time… get over it.
I’m a big fan of the Nintendo, had one when i was kid and still got one. I really enjoyed this film, it was lots of fun with a good message and nostalgia with a sense of humour also loved the cast and especially neil patrick narrating.
It's a wholesome movie. I was left with a smile at end, so that's good :)
Awesome journey through the 80s for those of us that were there. New family favorite for sure.
Much better than I expected. A great trip back to the 80s!
Lovely new Christmas movie tradition.
Ejtis background, with a Christmas parable. Relatively up-to-date movie for boomers and their descendants. :)
Bah humbug. Had it on as background noise while the cooking was happening for the big feast tonight, but it was just too awkward and cringy. Bad acting all over and just didn't come together. Had a few decent moments. A healthy xmas overscore of 5.2.
I saw a lot of negative reviews for this prior to watching, and maybe I went in with no expectations, but this was really enjoyable. Lately Christmas films to me, has missed the undescriable element that made films from my era great (e.g. Home Alone, The Santa Clause, Elf, etc.) (and no, nostalgia isn't the only factor). This is one of the closest examples to that (in my opinion).
It's not all perfect. Act 2 is very tiresome and almost derails the film completely. But the third act is great and has a fantastic message. The last 10 minutes are really great and appeal to my love of Christmas, playing together and family. Tug at my heart strings, especially as there's a lot going on in my life with family right now.
I know I'm in the minority but if you love those films I mentioned above, there's elements of those in this. It's not as good as any of those, modern Christmas films seem to never be. But I could potentially watch this again at Christmas, and that's the biggest compliment I can provide - most Christmas films do not make the rewatch.
I thought this was a very solid family Christmas movie that is basically what Home Sweet Home Alone should have been. An updated Christmas Story, with Steve Zahn and David Cross, can’t ask for much more.
Modern day A Christmas Story for the 80's generation!

Even though I pretty much saw it coming, the end still hit me pretty damn hard. Well played.
