anyone who sees anything REMOTELY redeemable or relatable in joes character is hereby blocked from my life
Wow this is an amazing show. It takes you through the ringer, should you like the stalker or not, he is only try to do his best for the woman he loves but does he take it too far? And then that ending OMG! We need a season 2, this makes me rethink everything that has happened that they made us believe.
I really enjoyed watching this first season and I can't wait for the second. I am also going to read the books because there is just something very interesting about Joe Goldberg, the mixture between good guy and super creepy stalker and I am curious to see/read more about him. Also of course because I want to know what the hell happened to Candace, especially now that she turned up alive at Mooney's.
I for one am very satisfied with the ending of this season. halfway through the show I was already thinking up endings and I really wanted it to end with Beck's death. Mostly because I though she was just not a very likable character but also because I think it would've been too cliché if Joe died or went to prison and Beck got saved at the last minute. Very nice that they kept a bit of mystery though as too how she died. I thought it was a nice twist that Beck actually came up with the idea to frame Doctor Nicky for everything, giving Joe a way out.
Very good story.
That show was like a hidden gem for me. I had it on my radar before the first episode even aired, but then didn't start it immediately because I never heard anyone talking about it and I was worried the stalker thing would just drag on and get boring. But after the last episode finished I suddenly heard a lot of good things and I have to say I'm not disappointed at all. I enjoyed this so much, especially how fast-paced this whole show felt.
I do think it could have all been wrapped up in like 12 episodes and be a standalone mini series. I hope season 2 will be just as good. I'm a bit worried to know we'll see more of Candace (I honestly thought her pictures in Rome were fake ones made by Joe) because I really can't stand Candace. Her whole character and attitude is so incredibly unlikeable that I hope she'll disappear quickly at the beginning of the next season.
Really good finale.

I however am greatly disturbed by the number of people who thinks there’s nothing wrong with Joe. And as someone who’s studied psychology I can honestly say that Joe is all kinds of f*ckd up! Straight up sociopathic. And people are not only romanticizing him they make excuses for his character...what? NO. To me it’s obvious the show is revealing how Joe becomes who he is but they’re also showing how messed up it is. And people are saying it’s justified?! What?
Even Beck says in her own words it’s not justified.
I love that even Penn came out and said he too finds it disturbing that people like Joe. He finds Joe disgusting as he’s meant to be.
Really good writing though and Penn does an amazing job.
This is probably the first and only time I actually started to like Beck. I did find her annoying but because she was a mess with zero direction and constantly letting people use her. Here we see her how she really is, without the lies to her friends or Joe. Here she’s strong, takes command and we see how good a writer she is. She had a great plan to get released but as soon as she got out and decided to chat with Joe I knew she was dead. I wished she’d just taken the keys with her - I would have worried he could reach through that little box or something.
But like Joe said, one shouldn’t panic. Sociopaths don’t panic but Beck is human so unfortunately it didn’t work out for her.
I really hope there’s more of the PI who obviously knows Joe’s story is BS. And please don’t let Paco become a mini-Joe.
Nice twist at the end. I’m curious now.
And I really want Ethan - a person Joe underestimates- to start putting pieces together. He too is well read so, definitely smart. He’s with Blythe so he’ll hear things about Beck. It’d be nice for Ethan and Becks friends to get justice for them.
I want to see more of Joe’s backstory. But the truth. He tries to make himself into what other people want (which he said in a previous episode and that is what sociopaths do) and I’d kind of like to see him slipping into other personalities or lies so we can see he’s far more manipulative that we’ve seen. One doesn’t become like that overnight.
What a wild ride this season has been! The show took some interesting departures from the book to put its own stamp on the material. I didn't really need an explicit explanation for Joe's dark behavior, but I like how everything with Paco was integrated. And wow, that was quite a cliffhanger to tease the next season! I'm going to have to read Hidden Bodies before it premieres.
Well, this was nicely fuc**d up. I don't get why someone can romantize Joe or like him for all he did. The only good about him was how he cared for Paco but that still doesn't justify anything. I'm really interested where the second season is gonna take us. Also, wtf, Candace is really alive?!
in my opinion there's nothing wrong with Joe. just with the annoying beckster ;-)
I can't believe I've just watched a whole season of a man stalking and manipulating a woman into liking him only for him to ultimately kill her. Along with cheating on and killing other women. I don't know what I'm meant to take away from the show at this point. Searching for some meaning and sense in it all. Clearly there are two more season of him doing this though...
Great ending. Writing this as a comment for S1 as a whole. There are moments where you almost forget he's a psychopath (particularly the episodes where he's visiting the therapist and when Peach is being an even bigger crazy than he is) but the show does well to never let you fully forget what he is. I never really understood why he staged Peach as a suicide instead of letting her fade out in Paris - he had the out available already. Especially as it seemed he'd done it already with Candace... although, clearly not the case after all.
I'm not sure Penn should be pleased that he plays Joe so well, to be honest...!
“You’re smart, except in the ways you are actually not”
Yeah like the way she didn’t play him just a little bit longer, then leaving and later calling the police.
Joe goes to jail.
She doesn’t die.
Happy ending. Well for her anyway, I’m glad joe got away with it.
It's unbearable how people are taking Joe's side, even as a joke. It's not justified in any way, even if the others are annoying. Seems like none of them have been in a situation of being manipulated like that, I imagine.
(SPOILER) I didn't like the end at all. Joe must die, not Beck. In addition, the end, with the sudden appearance of Candace, leaves us with too many doubts. I dont know. I did not like the end of this series.
Amazing twist at the end. I'm very happy to see that Candace again. Love her attitude and very easy to understand how Joe got so obsessed about her. Goodbye Beck. Hello Season 2 and more Candace. I honestly still miss peach. Penn Badgley did a nice job in season 1. Can't wait for what's next.
beck :( I was rooting for you
Incel: the TV Show. How is this shit so popular?!
I wonder if the reaction would be different if a woman didn't creat and wrote this. Or if it didn't star the pretty boy from Gossip Girl.
Ridiculous!!!!!! Waste of time. 5 people. 5!! Wtf
I will miss you Guinevere :(
One is the best final ever

Fantastic episode but I thought the way they handled Beck's death was slightly rushed. She just got grabbed by Joe and then it was suddenly 4 months later
