oh dang Rachel those are TEENAGE GIRLS. Don't talk to them. Just don't make eye contact and hope they don't speak to you.
Finally another satire to watch, and this one is a delight. Hopefully it gets uncomfortable and darker as it goes along.
PD: And I'm thinking that body is not gonna be what they are clearly hinting.
Everyone is hilariously unlikable. Loving this dark and funny show.
Both funny and intriguing so far. I really want to know if Shane was the one who killed the person and (if that's the case) whether that's his mom, wife, or one of the Germans.
I'm in.
The pilot was delicious.
Not bad for a pilot episode, but it's... Meh. There seems to be nothing going on for the plot except the hint of a murder from the present day events. Most of the main characters are unlikeable and unrelatable, and even cringey. Classic newlyweds where one of them is from a rich family, two mean girls whose only personality trait are being mean... Nothing new. Good set-up but they're so one-dimensional and too stereotypical right now. I'll give it a few more episodes, hoping it picks up from here.
Boring and annoying is my take of this first episode. Doubt I will see the rest.
I don't know if I'm just being thick or what, but can someone explain why the two sunbathing girls were laughing at Alexandra Daddario's character? What did she do that was so funny?!
I enjoyed this a lot. Love the setting and the characters are well defined from the get go. Yeah, they are not likable people but this is HBO. Not Netflix. It shouldn't be a surprise.
I really don't get the hype just from the pilot, hmm. But I have to say Lani, so precious and the husband from the newlyweds is annoying as hell
The opening scene would've been hilarious with a better punchline.
Murray Bartlett was clearly going for an Australian version of John Cleese.
Overall, below average banal satire.
The promise is that this new HBO show is going to be Mysterious and sarcastic.
But like the honeymoon suite, you don’t get what you want, and instead you get an attempt to compete with Netflix’s Sex Life. If it wasn’t for the cast, I would stop here. But I will try one more time and may they will let me see the baby sharks.
Nudity :handshake: HBO. That scene was horrifying and unnecessary.
Not sure how I feel about it so far, maybe because it's just one episode. Interesting setting, so I’ll give it another go and see if episode 2 is better.
Loved the cringey Gayatri Mantra recital during the massage.
Perfect Pilot. Different flavours of white people on display.
Definitely not getting the hype from the pilot. It needed something at the end to underpin the mystery death or keep us wanting more. Pretty lacklustre as openers go.
I can’t tell if the resort is crap or if the people we’re following are just so awful they’re having a terrible experience.
Loved this first season…
Considering the fact that I watched both seasons of WL. IMO Season 1 was incredibly better than season 1. Either way its worth your time and patience especially for season 2.
Do yourself a favor and watch this show.
Lani is a great trainee! Aww, she’s pregnant. And possibly in labor?! I love her eye twitch. Is there an ambulance? Or was this to keep the guise of calm for the guests? She “forgot” about the guy? Malarkey!
I liked this first episode. Looks like it’ll be interesting. Big fan of Alexandra and Mike White.
I really don't like any of these people so far. I'll stick around for episode 2 to see if it picks up though.

I have watched only a few Mike White works, but those include Beatriz at Dinner. This feels very much in the same vein, but hones its biting commentary further into a truly delicious, fun, and sharp focus on varied targets, with a confident, fully built-in world-building and characterization right out of the gate. Too many favorite moments/performances to list (those two teens are a scream, and Jake Lacy nails a specific kind of guy douchiness so much I want to shake him a bit), but the pilot's MVP goes to Jennifer Coolidge, whose performance is a marvel of spot-on surface satire, but without abandoning the character's piercing, deeply felt pathos underneath.
