The White Lotus

Season 1

Now what the fuck was the hype around this show all about? Awful characters, average theatrical action, and the plot is predictable and cowardly.

Entertaining, but really, 10 Emmys?

Jennifer Coolidge is such a unique brand of low-energy crazy

Well, first of all, how nice it is to "be" in Hawaii for six hours. That being said, this is a very good show, wonderfully acted, funny, entertaining, sad, with lots of stuff to say, even if sometimes it's a bit goofy in how it says those things. It kinda does the Succession trick of making you care for people you despise because you nonetheless can see some humanity, some part of yourself, in them. And Alexandra Daddario deserves a better career.

Whoever casted and got Alexandra Daddario + Sydney Sweeney on the same screen: you’re doing the Lord’s work

I started this because of the hype and I’m not sure that it delivered. It’s good, don’t get me wrong, but is it THAT good?

The way that the story focusses on different flawed families and people is really interesting. It really feels like your there, which is an achievement. Still trying to find out how entertaining I find the whole thing. Luckily there’s a second season to find that out!

This is a fantastic show. Great drama, great cinematography, and most of all, great character development.

Yo, Jennifer Coolidge was balls, skipped through all her scenes. Found her insufferable.

"The White Lotus" attempts to explore the destructive power of vacations on established relationships, but it ultimately offers just a little more than an awkward comedy with a sprinkle of comfort cynicism. You’re supposed to chuckle at the sight of privileged individuals embarrassing themselves, but the execution feels forced for the most part. Despite the themes at the core being mostly relatable, none of the characters felt real. Not to mention the overbearing ideological dialogue felt like sand in my swimsuit, and about as welcome as a jellyfish sting. Overall, it's not the worst thing out there, but it's hardly worth watching.

Just finished the first season and started the second one that seems to be even better...the series has something that makes you stay on the screen and get really involved, really liked it. Also loved the rhythm of the chapters, always with a clear atmosphere and good vibes in the beginning..and then it gets kinda dark and disturbing in the endings..but in a pleasant way lol. The musical theme is amazing too

The White Lotus is an easy watch, marveling at the confluence of poor decisions that intertwine to blow up in the faces of flawed, rich people. There's not an immense amount of depth beyond the straightforward class commentary, but though it is a bit heavy-handed, the central conceit of how the unnecessary indulgences of the rich end up harming ordinary people comes through well. The show does a good job at painting vivid character portraits; by the finale, we know these characters and the implications of their expressions and body language intimately. I've heard season 2 is better and I'm interested to see it, but while it's not a show I'll go back to or expect to find surprising depths in, it reached a satisfying conclusion in season 1.

Good series, interesting stories, entertaining characters, but the amount of bashing on “white people” is insane. Replace “white” with any other race and western society would be up in arms.

Successful season 2 is not possible. They killed off the best character!

Solid show with some beautiful shots and truly great moments. Unfortunately the ending kinda torpedoed the whole thing for me. They fell into the trap of “What’s the absolute least expected person/way for the murder to happen?” and basically shoehorned it into the last 10min of the show in a way that fails to tie in or give closure to the themes and relationships the whole season has been building.

Such a great representation of intersectional dynamics and oppression

Had this on my watchlist for a while and finally watched it. It was hilarious. Very well played and great conversations and plot twists. Would definitely recommend.

Good show, great season! I enjoyed it very much! My favorite part of this show is the theme song and how they play it throughout in different ways
