Best episode so far had so many feels

Despite some strange CGI in this episode, TV does wonders to the introduction of Death into the Sandman series.
Hob Gadling's storline is perfect for this medium as well, 10/10 for me

This is my favourite episode so far.
It was really fun and depressing that the dialogues in 1989 were the same as the 1389 ones

Writing down my opinion lest I forget about it, like so many things these days.
It's an episode that encapsulates so much, that I almost thought I was seeing 2 episodes in one.
Death is presented as it should, a gift for the weary, gentle and friendly - a concept shared by few, but so well presented here.
Then comes the second part, still in the same episode, we see friendship growing over centuries until it is declared .
It is an excellent, 10/10 episode.

This episode exemplifies the care put into transliterating The Sandman story from comic to television. It’s been good so far, but I’m blown away by this episode. Can’t stop crying.

The pacing was awesome in this episode. I had my eyes glued to the screen the entire time. And they played "Desire" by Bob Moses, Zhu at the end!! Great song to end an amazing episode with.

I didn't think it could get better than ep.5, it did. So beautiful in every way, writing, performances, costumes. Loved it.

Great stuff. I really hope we get more of this and also similar stuff to the previous episode. It's unique story telling and it's a joy to watch.

favorite episode so far. Death's introduction was so sweet, poetic, human if I can say. also loved the second part. Seeing Dream bond with a human and observing that the human life is worth living and experiencing was definitely interesting

I love that they allow this to be a two-part episode, nailing two classic issues. Kirby Howell-Baptiste perfectly captures Death, both in her sibling banter and the compassionate way she guides people to the other side. And then we get to Hob (Ferdinand Kingsley!), and even moreso than the comic, I love the blossoming of a genuine friendship, and the sincerity of Dream's little smile. And Ian McNeice!

I believe this is the first episode of a tv show I'll be rating a perfect ten this year. Beautiful...

What an interesting tale that one! No dark bargain with the Devil this time! Just a man and his wish! Very refreshing to watch!

For me, the best episode so far, that walk with his sister, that meeting at the inn

Most touching ep yet.... Gotta love Death!

Oh, and, I'm sure everyone's thought it... Desire's a bitch!

What an amazing episode! I have grealy enjoyed this TV show so far, but this episode was in a league of its own!

As a comic reader, this was one of the episodes I was looking forward to the most. Absolutely knocked it out of the park. What a great adaptation of a heart-wrenching but also heart-warming tale

This is the first episode that I've enjoyed. The script should've been better reviewed though. A lot of the conversation between Death and Dream felt unnatural and leading.
Wonder how much of a hand Gaiman had in the scripts.

The death part was okay but the 2nd half was a snoozefest, literally. What does this episode even mean? I didn't find it interesting.
Is this where the show really goes downhill?

loading replies

probably someone likes that gods or demigods can experience the same emotions as humans but frankly it really seems like a stretch

The death scene of the Baby was too much for me. 0/10

Outstanding. This is a double gut punch episode of 2 of the best issues in the series in one. Loved it.

Best episode of the series so far. Very well done.

Kirby is amazing in this. Absolutely lovely.

weird how this show keeps making me cry

Beautiful in oh so many ways (and also very funny, at times). Best episode so far!!

this is my favourite the sandman episode it’s so good it’s got Death as well as Hob Gadling what more could you want

Aww this episode! As soon as I saw Dream feeding the pigeons I was like "YES! YES I REMEMBER THIS!"
And it did not disappoint, as to the story, and of Dream and Death.

What did disappoint me however is the depiction of Despair. She doesn't scream despair to me, not like the original. I mean I can see how it would be different to find an actress that is morbidly obese and revoltingly ugly, and maybe they did not want to just use mask and CGI to achieve it... but yeah, that was a letdown.

Could have done without all the death.. ba dum tss

No but seriously Death was to die for :relaxed:
This episode started out so sad. Many tears but like it was beautiful too, you know.

Absolutely satisfying, right down to closing credits music choice. I'm still in awe that they've stayed true to the comic in every way that counts and the casting is brilliant!!!! Been smiling since episode 1, it's so good!

absolutely astounding.

My favorite episode in the series, and definitely in my top 10 for beat episodes ever.

Really cool episode. Best so far, I think..

What the f...? Did they only have money for FX and decent scripts for the first three episodes? This was boring and what the f... was that abomination at the end?
