The entire Rose plot has been straight-up bad. This season, every scene with Rose, Unity, or The Corinthian has been bad. The characters are shallow and poorly written, the tone feels completely off when they're around, and the acting isn't great either. This has been a poor finale to end a wildly inconsistent and disappointing season of television.
They lost me after episode 6, found it boring afterwards.
Great show, great story, great cast and a great universe. I wasn't familiar with the comics and it took 3 episodes to get me really interested in this world. Tom Sturridge is stunning and his voice fits the dark character so damn good. The supporting cast has so many good actors/actresses to enjoy: Boyd Holbrook, Stephen Fry and Mason Alexander Park were some of my favourites. The show has a very free way of dealing with sexuality. But where a lot of shows these day have a very forced way of doing this, The Sandman sets an example of how this can be done with care and love. Netflix really needed this W.
Desire has just opened the library
This episode was lovely!! I love the scenery, and the way Dream evolves. And the voices! So many BEAUTIFUL voices.
I'm a little disappointed to be honest. The show has great potential to become more. The characters are interesting but not explored much this season. I do think the second season is going to be better because now the foundation has been laid out and they can build from that. I was so disappointed to learn that characters like Death, Despair and Desire weren't big... they didn't have any weight to the overall story so far.... we have basically spend the entire season trying to warm up to Moody Morpheus.
That aside... the cinematography is brilliant. Everything is filmed with so much beauty in mind and again; the potential is great!
I also feel like this season was made up out of two separate stories. We have the beginning with John, the Ruby and Morpheus hunting for his lost items but that is wrapped up and then it's on to the Vortex which of course is part of a grand scheme but still. It felt very much like I watched two stories in one.
The Corinthian is a cool character but the end was anti climatic... plus this Cerial Killer convention... what was that even about? Just to show the darkness of humanity? The darkness of the Corinthian? It felt a little over the top.
I enjoyed the season but have to admit I dosed of here and there.
Great cast, beautifully executed but the writing needs work or... the tempo does.
First few were great but quickly went downhill, will be hoping for a big improvement in season two.
i don't love this ending. i feel like it's not on the same level as the first five episodes. but i'm excited to see more. i love desire and i'm excited to see more of they and lucifer.
I'm really frustrated by how they handled the Corinthian on this series. Boyd Holbrook is marvelously cast and I adore the smug charisma he oozes, but the season was so oddly structured, overplaying him up front to the point of feeling repetitive by trying to make him more involved in the initial machinations when they could have focused more on the cancer of cruelty he was slowly spreading among humanity, with the Cereal Convention as its culmination. On the flip side, Rose developing a level of control over her powers could have been seeding in earlier on, which would have added more fuel to the conflict with Morpheus. And I strongly dislike how they sneak their way into a convenient resolution with Unity's sacrifice, when leaving the inconvenience of Rose's powers in place would make for a stronger ongoing story. Also, if you finally have a visual medium where you can play with the striking concept of the Corinthian's "eyes", why are they so subdued that even when revealed, they're minimized to have no impact? There's never a dramatic shock to them, never a horrified reaction. I was really hooked on this series at first, but as it's gone along, the structural issues taken a toll, partially owing to the structural issues of the original comic, partially due to choices they made on how to expand and adapt the material. A lot of it has been good, but enough has not that I hope they put more care into mapping out season 2. I still love the cast. I love the look and tone of the show, but the payoffs often don't cohere the strength of the setups. Like the comic, the parts are much greater than the whole.

After an amazing first half to the season, the 2nd half tanked hard. If I never have to see Rose again I'll be very happy.
I would have probably given up on the show moving forward, if it wasn't for the fact it's the well revered Sandman, generally the acting is good and the last 5 minutes were intriguing.
