Absolutely losing my mind over that psychic scene.
Jamie going from Mr. "Poopay" to the king of grammar. The Zava-effect.
"FUCK YEAH PRINCESS DIARIES" what a treat
They do a lot of things right in season 3. Definitely improved over season 2. Well-balanced A, B, C plots involving a lot of different issues. I like that the girls have stories in their own right. I only wish they got the soccer part right. The pitch seems wrong, the game seems wrong, match preparation seems wrong. I blame bad FX. But it's also everything around the game: You don't present your matchplan on match day. I mean, it's not supposed to be a documentary about pro soccer. I get this. But an infusion of some more realism would probably make the show better.
So, Rebecca's going to be in some kind of accident during a storm, right? Upside-down, raining, but safe? I'm glad they said safe.
But Ted & Sassy, yes, finally. It's been too long. I know people root for Ted/Rebecca, but I prefer Sassy for him.
The Zava character is stupid.
Oh Trent. Don't let me down here man. Don't use that discovery for ill will.
I wondered if they'd cover being queer in male professional sport. It's a big concern for sure and we're still striving to see a real difference. Only a handful of guys are out coz it's so poorly received.
On the Zava front though, Richmond are surely building a house of cards that could crumble with a single injury or whim change. Nice to be winning but must be frustrating for players to hinge on one in particular.
Probably my favorite episode of the series tbh
Apple put their Apple stamp on this season for sure, I was hoping they would keep the show very neutral but they are really adding a lot of "messages" this season and it detracts from what has always been just a fun way to spend some time being entertained.
i got excited for a fictional football match.. this is how good this is. also ZAVA!!
Another standout episode from this show. Zava getting thrown into the mix added a new dynamic to the team we haven't see before and some good humor (especially subtle humor from Ted) that comes from his presence. I have to say, I don't like how he's changing the team dynamic. His presence compliments the themes of the show well. Success on the pitch is great but what we really care about is the team camaraderie and Zava has completely shifted that to feel less like a team and more like a one-man show. The players look up to him like a god and it's not the dynamic I want out of this team (except for Jamie, who has easily become one of my favorite characters). I don't want Richmond to succeed if they're not going to do it together, only this show could get away with something like that so well. This episode had more great moments between Roy and Jamie as well which I am absolutely loving, we're seeing their relationship go on a nice arc from where they were in season 1. Roy is also starting to open up more and more with the other coaches and let loose, which is fun to see and leads to some really funny moments. This also had some heartbreaking stuff with Ted, and what goes down in this episode retroactively puts so much more weight to his dialogue about therapists and the couples counselor from last season. Sad Ted = sad me, just plain and simple. I hate to see him upset but the emotion hits every time. There is something to be said about Ted allowing Zava to be a selfish player when he wouldn't stand for it with Jamie in season 1, but I think the stuff with is ex-wife is distracting him and he's letting the team operate in autopilot. Ted has also learned the importance of winning in this league, but I still don't think he would be standing for the selfishness of Zava if he had the emotional capacity to do something about it, but instead this stuff with his ex-wife is understandably taking up all of his mental space. I'm not sure if that was intentional, but I think it works really well regardless. Lastly, this was the second episode in a row we got none to very little of Nate, so the balance is starting to feel somewhat off, but I'm not worried at all and have no doubt we'll get enough of him as the season progresses.
Aren’t they pushing a little too far into cartoony territory this season? Roy Kent feels like a parody of himself, and the guy who’s meant to be a Zlatan Ibrahimovic stand-in is so over the top
Tottenham is in last place of the table Lmao
First half dragged. It was all about Zava, the new player, not fitting in and doing his own thing, etc. It was fine but there was just too much.
The winning streak that came later was fun to watch. And the team excursion to Sam’s restaurant.
Good scenes for Colin here.
And (the gorgeous) Ellie Taylor is back as Sassy. Yay!
8/10
I’m really loving Trent Crimm being a part of there whole dynamic. Hope he doesn’t mess it up tho.
Zlatan Ibrahimović , sorry Zava smiley
I’m swooning right out of the gate. Please don’t make me regret watching this season.
Oh, Rebecca...I needed a good cry!
It really has nothing whatsoever to do with football, but I see the finale as Zava being injured/ suspended for the title decider against ManCity and Tartt has to KarateKid his way to legend status with the new attacking skills he learns through training with famed bruiser and defender Roy "Mr Miyagi" Kent, a man with literally zero understanding of the game. The cheese is strong in this one.
Fun. Lots of laughs. I don't like Trent Crimm!
if something bad happens to Ted, we riot.
