I love Richard Speight, Jr as a director. Every time I see his name in the credits my hopes and spirits raise. I really love his close-ups, especially when that witch was showing them what she did to Max's mom. The cámara transitions were also very good and that wide shot near the sea was lovely. I really love that actors are willing to direct certain episodes. Last week's was directed by Amanda Tapping.
And the ending got me like "Oh look, it's that Toni Bevell, the woman we all loved from the first two episodes" said no one. EVER.
That last car scene felt weird. Maybe I'm overreading it but is it significant that Dean seemed so worried when he tried to make Sam wake up and he didn't? I mean, people normally get tired after hunting a doll controlled by a witch, especially when it's made out of twig and twine and it can rebuild itself, maybe it's a random thought, but I think that scene is significant. It seems as if something is going on with Sam, but I have no clue what it could be. I've seen him in next week's promo and, besides being angry as hell (I hope it's not what I'm thinking of) he looks fine. So weird my thoughts.
And the Colt. If anyone can fix it that's our nerd Sam freaking Winchester. Wouldn't it be fine, in case they can't fix it, that they create a new one and call it the Winchester?
But is Babifer really bad? Like Kelly said, nothing is born evil. And Lucifer wasn't made evil. He was God's favourite and his most trusted. The Mark of Cain corrupted him and when he claimed to love God more than mankind, he refused to bow down to mankind, got cast out of Heaven and sent directly to Hell. Nurture or Nature, that's the debate.
Dean's scenes when trying to reach out Mary and being ignored are so emotionally hurtful and painful. They bear some similarities to those scenes in season 1 when Dean tried to get John's approval but not getting it. However, the scenes with Mary hurt even more. I found it hilarious it was the psychopathic Ketch the one who pointed out to Mary that she has to call Dean to show she cares for him. He was totally like "Mary, please, call your boy and tell him you love him, for Chuck's sake" rolls eyes Someone please give Dean a hug. He really needs it. I volunteer as a tribute! But man, that boy deserves only happiness.
One of the best parts of the episode was Mary kicking Ketch's ass! It was oddly satisfying. I don't know if it was the acting or what but I found that fight scene so intense and amazing. Man, I loved it. She did put a good fight. Long time since I've been so satisfied by someone kicking ass.
I hate Ketch as much as the next but I have to say it, I'm a big fan of David Haydn-Jones! Man, he's such a good actor! He was on fire the seconds before the fight. Although he's a freaking psycho, I love his character so much. He really plays him so convincingly. That scene with Mary, when he was looking directly to her eyes gave me the goosebumps. He has officially become creepy as hell.
What a freaking psycho. When I saw Mary being torture I was like wtf? Then I understood. He did enjoyed torturing her, there's no boundary. And I'm sure he really enjoyed and took pleasure of torturing himself. Like Crowley said "that's how he shows love". What a creepy psycho!
And we got another mention of the grenade launcher. They're definitely using it this season. They have to. Probably to break into the BMoL HD to break Mary out.
When Sam says to Dean "Their mom is on a hunting trip, and she hasn't been home in a week" to get him to go along with checking-in with Alicia and help you could see the hurt in his eyes. It was immediately a flashback to 11 years ago when he showed up on Sam's doorstep in college saying the same thing about their Dad.
Very powerful reference from Steve Yockey.
Sam: You did the right thing. You saved him.
Dean: Yeah, he seemed super saved.
Lol, Dean always getting cheeky with the pessimism.
And in next episode we got Eileen back. In other circumstances I've be glad, but I'm really worried. We saw her file there along with Claire's, Garth's and the boys'. Honestly, Eileen's death would be the straw that broke the camel's back. That would certainly make the Winchesters go against the BMoL guns ablazing but please, writers, don't kill her off. She's such an amazing character and Sam cares so much for her. She's a wayward daughter and I'd hate to see her go.
The CW process of though regarding character's lives goes like this:
The CW: "Wow, people are really starting to like those characters"
The CW to the CW: "Kill them all" while ferociously patting their cat pet Supernatural and their obsession with killing off awesome secondary characters.
When I saw Tasha what that pendant I couldn't laugh any harder. Seriously she was all "don't mind me, just taking my pendant for a walk". No one survives the cold open, it's a fact. But I really wanted her to. But you know, if you aren't aware of the rules of the cold open, you risk your life. One does not simply appear in the cold open and survive. Plus, you don't go into a creepy dark cellar that smells like death in a weird motel without a flashlight. If you do, you're asking for trouble.
The first scene after the cold open was absolutely perfect. I really love the bond between Sam, Dean and Cas. So powerful and strong. Team Free Will forever! I loved when Dean was simply ranting about Cas while Sam was just there staring longingly at the Colt.
First sentence in the "Then" section and my heart was bumping: "Dad's on a hunting trip and he hasn't been home for a few days" me smiles ridiculously at the screen. And what about Sam's way to convince Dean to go meet the twins? "Their mom's on a hunting trip and she hasn't been home for a week". I had the goofiest smile on my face. I love it!
Amazing episode! That was a heartbreaking, painful and sad. I came here so happy and thrilling to watch Supernatural expecting having a good time and boom, they hit me right in the feels.
Did Max really have to lose not only his Mom but also his sister right after losing his father? Every single time he appears on scene he loses family. I'm concerned about what's gonna happen the next time he shows up. But now, things are going to be really interesting the next time we see Max and twig!Alicia. His devotion for his family is straight outta Winchester. I'm really thinking about a serious spin-off with this storyline. And I'd watch it.
The role transfer was amazing: Alicia/Sam and Max/Dean. We all know Max did exactly the same Dean would've done. Save his brother no matter what. Even selling your soul because you can't simply live without your sibling and then lying to them about their real nature because you're afraid of losing them. The same happened when Dean had Gadreel posses Sam to save him. I don't blame Max for selling his soul to have her back. As a matter of fact, probably anyone in his shoes would've done exactly the same.
The episode was all about family and the risks you're willing to take to save them and how far you'd go. I was looking forward to see the witch twins in action but man, I can't understand why I let character grow on myself.
Poor Max. It sucked he had to find out like that. The second half of the episode was just too hurtful. He went through two seasons of Supernatural in like just one episode. Mom goes missing, then she dies, then his sister (killed by her own mom) and then he makes a deal to bring her back. Damn! There were some touching scenes, and tough to watch too, especially when he saw his mom dead in the cellar. That crying scene was heartbreaking. The same when he saw Alicia. That girl was so naive. She didn't deserve to die but damn girl. "Mom!" gets stabbed by mom

Guys, I just had a close look at the files in the BMoL HD and I can't stop laughing. The rest are normal but Mary's is just hilarious. Starting by her age which states "63 -see file notes". and right beneath her file number, the photo of her tombstone is attached. Man, I can't stop laughing.
