– I'll be hurt either way. Isn't it better to be who I am?
I'm soooo glad Eric managed to turn things around and realise he should be proud of who he is and just enjoy it. He just needed a role model (with fancy nails) to kick-start his self-esteem back in place. And then the reunion with Otis... Oh boy! I'm not gonna lie, I shed a tear when I saw Eric smiling after Otis apologised to him, I was so happy to see those two make amends and strengthen the solid friendship they always had. I know it's only been a couple of episodes, but I already missed the two best buds hanging out, together.
And Maeve... Wow! She looked stunning! I literally froze when Jackson first saw Maeve ready for the ball AND HE DIDN'T COMPLIMENT HER LOOKS!! D: Luckily for him, that didn't pan out. I guess Maeve isn't the kind of girl to be hung up on such trivial girlie things, anyway.
Did they really get Ezra Furman to perform at the ball? How cool! Too bad he didn't actually play the Macarena, though.
Otis' first big public speech was very touching and an emotional highlight of the show, because he was talking to that guy high up on the moon (did you catch this double meaning? teehee!), but we all know he was taking about himself and Maeve. He was so close to getting Maeve in his arms (or the equivalent romantic expression in Otis' peculiar terms)... But then drunk Action Man cockblocked the whole thing! Damn! That was hard to watch... Because now Otis and Maeve are the farthest apart they've ever been, right after being the closest to each other. And only one episode left! How will they fix things between the two in just one episode?!
I'm so glad Eric turned things around and I'm sure this character will inspire so many young men and women across the world. I love that his dad came around too and it made their bond stronger.
I never expected it but Sex Education might be my favourite series. The characters are so great!
That dance was just beautiful.
Oh, what an emotional rollercoaster... :o :)
Maeve is finally attracted to Otis. They had such a good moment after Otis messed things up with Ola (poor Ola btw :o). But then Jackson messed everything up... Otis should've tried to explain it! He isn't really guilty and it's not remotely as bad as it sounds. Anyway, it sucks but I also don't want this show to end anytime soon :D Plus I dislike that Maeve smokes. There's much more to her than it seems but she isn't that good for Otis.
Maeve's looks were so good btw! When Jackson didn't acknowledge her dress at all, multiple times when she saw Otis, and when she saw Otis and Ola.
Jean: "I would never." Oh well...
Jakob: "Now I fix your sink."
Jean and Jakob are really funny together. And there seems to be much more to Jakob as it seems. Pretty sure that Jean wants to see him again.
Maeve must sometimes be so embarrassed by her brother. He means well but he's not the smart one.
Eric standing up to Adam was cool <3
It's complicated but at least he might be finally past being bullied.
And the moment with his dad was so sweet :)
Jackson's disciplined mom really sucks. I don't like it if parents are too strict and don't leave their children enough freedom to make their own decisions. I'm so glad that I'm no an athlete or anything like that (it's just so competitive in general - must be a lot of pressure, even if one wants/likes it).
Otis rightfully wasn't happy at all to see Jean's book! He really doesn't have it easy sometimes...
Wowww Jean sucks but Ola and her dad are awesome
Amazing episode. I'm so glad Eric and Otis are finally friends again after so long. I enjoyed seeing more of Eric a sfocus this episode, and seeing him finally be happy when he went to the blakc church with his family, being surrounded by people who loved him was sweet. Also, the moment between Eric and his father was so heartwarming, one of my favorite moments from this season. Eric's dad had to conform to fit into the soceity he moved to from Africa, hiding aspects of his identity to survive, while Eric doesnt want to hide who he is, he wants to fully express his identity regardless of it will lead to him being hurt. Eric's dad isnt homophobic or anything, he's just worrried about his kid's safety, beleiving tat because of who Eric is he'll be hurt, and wanting him to suppress those aspects of himself to avoid experiencing pain. When Eric's dad called him a brave son and they hugged, it was such a beautiful scene, seeing them come together and seeing Eric's dad be impressed by Eric expressing himself while in this extragament outfit. Regarding Otis, I feel bad for the man, he fucked up his relationship with Ola, and then later with Maeve after she found out he was (technically and unintentionally) paid by Jackson to give him advice to win over Maeve. Otis's speech was so sweet too, talking about unreqiuted love to the man about to jumpoff the prop castle, and saying he's an amazing person(obivously referring to Maeve with the lvoe talk). Regarding Maeve, I really feel bad for her, having to deal with a brother who lied about them being orphans to get her a dress and tonight was selling drugs to highschoolers at the party, and realizing she was fucked over by Otis too, who she clearly was having feelings for. Jackson's character was pretty compelling this episode, seeing how he struggles with feeling like he has to live out his mom's dreams of being swimmers, when its not really something he wants to do, leading to him just gettign wasted and having a fight from his parents, to try an escape from this feeling of living for someone else rather than himself, with him panicking at Maeve's front steps after runnign away from home. And poor Adam, he clearly wishes to have a good father figure but his dad seems to not care for him at all, and now that he was comepletlty caught for cheating his award winning essay by his father, things definently arent looking good for him right now. Also, looka likw Jean realized today that she isnt as much of a know it all as she believes she is, after trying to observe who Mr. Builder was but being compelteltty off base, and poor guy, they were clearly getting along but she broke up with him before things got serious.
Strongest episode of the season so far, with things between Maeve and Otis reaching their culmination point and Otis finding moms pages about his "nocturnal dreams."
Maeve was totally trying to sabotage things with Otis and his date: "Between you and me, he's like totally inexperienced. I'd be surprised if he doesn't seem too keen."
You look like an angry aubergine. :joy:
Wow, quite the turns in this ep!! Crazy!
