Jamie has been taken by the English, which means this ep we'll have Claire's search and rescue, woman on a mission.
Was not expecting for Jenny to part of Claire's first leg of her search. It was great to see that Jenny had also basic skills in tracking and protecting herself with a gun/knife, even a bit of torture of the enemy. Also unexpected was seein both women on horseback. Not something I usually see in period dramas of this time. Women are usually restricted to kitchens, sitting rooms and balls.
Luckily Jamie escapes but heads futher North, farther from the British. Into territory that Jenny can't venture into and lands Claire doesn't know how to navigate. Enter Murtagh. The unlikely pair have a rough start to their journey, trying to find Jamie without being discovered by the wrong people. Murtagh uses Claire's medical skills and his dancing skills to make money and to try to find any info. Unable to attract the attention needed, Claire begins performing a modern song, gaining audience. But their plan to attact Jamie gets diverted when a group of Gypsies copies their performance, seeing it as an opportunity. Taking away their chances of finding Jamie and their money.
Not particularly liking most of this episode, though I know it's purpose is to move the story along. Maybe it's the lack of Jamie or also that Murtagh doesn't hold my attention as a whole. But I do feel this section of the story feels draggy.
What I was pleasantly surprised was seeing that Jamie holds a special place with Murtagh, as it's revealed that he was in love with Jamie's mom and he sees Jamie like a son.
After some bad luck, the Gypsies help Claire get the attention she was looking for, unfortunately it wasn't Jamie that had spotted her, rather his uncle (who is looking to continue his jacobite cause and also take over the Fraser lands, with Claire as his wife). Claire agrees to marry him, on two conditions: his men will help her try to break Jamie out of jail if it is possible that he's still alive, and if he's not, then and only then will she marry him.
Now this was a twist I was not expecting, but I can't say I'm surprised by the double crossing uncle. He's had an interest in Claire from the begining.
Overall, not my favorite episode, but production quality is amazing, getting to see the amazing Scottish countryside.
Finally an episode without Jamie:heart_eyes:
The idea of the girls searching for Jamie on their own seems a bit absurd to me. The scenes with the song added some humour to the show, though. The episode began in a way that looked a bit unrealistic but it improved with time and overall it was allright.

Beautifully shot and acted, but I felt that this episode was one long chase scene. The loss of the book's first person perspective really took away from much of the episode.
