Oh, the "protagonist faces a midlife crisis about his job"-trope. The case was interesting, and let's face it, just the fact that that guy broke into the brother's emails, followed the terrified woman, threatened to kill her and did shoot Cosgrove... well, not sure why the testimony of the woman was even needed.
