the adaptation has a good start, it's amazing how they captured the feeling of the graphic novel and there is even Olivia Colman as Nick's mom, we won heartstopper stans

Just to be nitpicky because i love the comic so much:
I don't think the Ben scene had as much impact as it could've had had it been shot differently. It should've made me reaaallly uncomfortable but it didn't.
Also, I kinda wish it didn't rush as much, a lot of things happened in just 27 minutes, wish they the episode was at least 10 minutes longer so we could take our time with each scene.
Finally a Tv show where teens looks like teens, with pimples and stuff.

Been obsessed with the graphic novel for ages and kgjakbjsjaeogjaeghaegjaelkgjae my heart can't take this. And Olivia Coleman is in it omggggg. I'm already crying this is too gooooddddd

It's cute but even though I've not read the comics I can tell they've kept a lot a dialogue the same. And some things don't translate well from page to screen. The dialogue is clunky and unnatural which combined with some awkward, wooden acting does not make a good mix at all!
Hopefully it settles as the season progresses but atm it's not quite there.
Edit - okay I've just had a quick blast through the first chunk of comics and though there were some page to screen lines they actually came across way more natural in the comic. It's the tweaks for screen and the delivery that's making it so bad :/ very disappointing.

It lacked a certain 'oomph' to it, unlike some of the romantic shows I've watched. And even if I don't compare the show to others, this show is starting off as a classic story with little changes to suit and relate to the gay community. We'll see in the next episodes if I'll continue watching the show or drop it.

I'm not too sure about this yet. The pacing is incredibly fast and the plot is barely holding up with it, but I'll see what the following episode brings.
