[5.8/10] The close to this one is lovely. Bob talking about how his dad is not communicative, and the two getting into a spat over it connects with what we know about their relationship. But Tinaa getting more of the famed “a tree nearly fell on him” story out of her grandfather, is a good win for her. And Big Bob explaining that the near-death experience renewed his lust for life and made him realize he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Bob’s mother is very sweet. This one ends on a real high note.

But the three stories are all weak broth. The Jack and the Beanstalk parody isn’t particularly funny or clever. The They Live spoof at least takes things in a creative direction, but doesn't have much in the way of laughs to show for it. And the Giving Tree spoof is a cute concept and mirrors the art style well, but is too glancing to write home about.

Otherwise, Tina’s impatience with everyone’s stories is worth a few yuks, and the material with Bob and his dad is pure gold, but the rest of this episode is easily skippable.

Gene: Pop-pop-culture filler warm-up to really warm canon!
Tina: I shed a tear over their washing dishes...wait, was Dad washing, or drying?

hehe

I laughed soooo damn hard when Tina opens the cabin door and immediately commands, “Please stay on the trails!” So random and yet so her. It’s so hard to find shows that meet my sense of humor!
