I dunno, I'm not vibing with this season so far, it's not bad but, but nothing great compared to stuff we've had before. None of these side characters are interesting (Phoebe is kinda fun sometimes and the actor who plays Roald seems to be having fun with the role, but that's about it). The plot is very basic and I'm even bored of being in London at this point personally. Like I said, not bad but i really hope part 2 picks things up a bit.
I have to say I very much enjoy the different direction they're taking this season. Turning the whole things on its head and making Joe the one who is being stalked, making him have to play detective mode to figure out who the killer is and put a stop to them, not giving him another girl to get obsessed with necessarily but instead this mystery killer becomes his "you" in a way like we haven't seen before. Part 1 provided a lot of exciting moments and I enjoyed watching the mystery unfold, even if I think who they went with as the killer was pretty predictable and familiar. A lot of the characters are insufferable, but I enjoy Joe's inner dialogue about them. We get a lot more of his inner dialogue here, which I did really enjoy and that's what gives the show its charm, but at times it felt like just a little much. I thought part 1 had a lot of exciting moments and this show continues to just be a really good time for me. Excited to see where part 2 goes.
Finally you is back to his insane show. Hated the Love storyline glad she's dead... Or is she haha. Can't wait for the next part
What’s the collective noun for privileged rich brats? A troupe of twats?
its like another show .. not YOU.
anyways its not bad it's just i feel like this is not his character. and Joe being one step back all this 5 episodes make you feel his not on his game mode ... i rather see the smart and intelligent JOE.
BTW I DID SUSPECT that guy from the start . it was little obvious ... well i was suspecting a the student girl and the girlfriend of dead guy until they showed on murder number 2 its a guy . (shoes)
Yeah I'm double down on my thoughts from episode 4. Joe is not Dexter. Dexter is about twisted violence. Joe is about twisted Love. The violence was always his weakest point. I maintain this was important to the character of Joe. They've made him too brave, too honorable and too self controlled. Joe is defined by he believe he IS that character. Not by his actually BEING that character. It's a bad shift for the character and the show.
It only works because of things like Penn Badgley. Penn is still transcendent as Joe. He's been nailing this character from the jump. And his Joe feels consistent even when he's been twisted like he has this season. I love Charlotte. I think she's an interesting difference from the previous love interests. She did something in this season that I've never liked in Season 1. She saw Joe for the scum he is. The abusive neighbor character back then was portrayed as if he hated Joe because "real recognize real" and one scumbag can recognize another one. I've always thought that was silly. It was better in Dexter where Sgt. Doakes just didn't like Dexter because he was weird. And Dexter IS weird. Joe.... isn't. That's his appeal as an "anti-hero" or villain. Unlike a lot of these weirdos, Joe IS an excellent romantic interest on the outside. It's his internal monologue that turns him from beautiful man you want to have Sunday brunch with, to creepy stalker. Kate more than anyone else has been able to see the touches of Joe for what they are rather than the mask he tries to cover them with. It and her British attitude have made Kate interesting, or at least it made her interesting. Now that she's done a heel-face turn and she knows everything that's happened this season it's kinda up in the air. At the mid season finale we've crested a bunch of aspects and I'm not looking toward Kate so much anymore. She could surprise me but her moment of interesting seems to have passed.
This season (so far) isn't quite up to the previous 3. The characters are all extremely unlikable and I know they are meant to be but it's making it hard to watch them. Little bits where they interact and Joe isn't involved don't do it for me. Kate too... she is softening up but she still feels too distant. Maybe she is just a huge letdown after someone as electric - crazyyyyy too but also very electric - as Love.
The fun part perhaps is just watching these horrible characters getting killed off one by one... but then we learn Rhys is the one behind it all and that feels too easy. I was so hoping it would be someone familiar. Love or someone connected to Beck or Ellie.. Anyone else than just one of the group of hoooooorrible people. And then Rhys is just this fanboy and that makes it all the worse. He is not out for vengeance against Joe, it's not personal... he's just another psychopath.
I really hope they wrap the season up better than it started. Bring someone, anyone, back. At this point I don't even care anymore who it is. As long as it's more meaningful than what we've seen so far and it draws attention away from the insufferable rich and back to Joe.
this was freaking amazing .. cant wait for part 2!!

I don’t know how to feel about this season. Something is off with it, I’m a little underwhelmed. Just didn’t have me as hooked as the other seasons did. I just don’t feel like there was anything particularly gripping. It was an enjoyable watch but Love being gone is very heavy in the air, I don’t understand why they killed her off, there were so many interesting roots to take with her character.
What I liked:
The change in plot style is a real breath of fresh air. Joe feeling/being watched rather than being the watcher and his frustration with it. This was an inventive approach to shaking things up. Joe having a new woman to obsess over the entire season could not have worked again. The changes were done nicely and the season is not like the previous ones.
Glad that we didn’t have to wait till the next part to find out who the killer is.
What I didn't like:
I didn’t think that a character can be worse and boring than Marianne, but Kate is definitely annoying and boring. The show is relying on her British spunk to make her fun. I just can’t seem to like her no matter how hard I try to, I think Love really set the bar high and I can’t accept anyone else now. I think I would have liked Kate better if she actually was the killer because then this irritating personality would be a facade. On top of that I'm not really feeling the Kate and Joe relationship.
I’m getting a little sick of the whole ‘rich people bad’ thing in every single season. I still don't buy that Rhys is the killer, his motive to me? All I seemed to get was, ‘ugh, rich people', which honestly just seeks pretty meh, so I hope there's going to be quite a bit more nuance to both Rhys and Kate.
This round of new characters are extremely bland and one-dimensional, that they felt a bit cartoony at times, and that wouldn't be that bad if we didn't spend as much time with them as we do.
It’s decent mid-season finale, however, the season is a genre shift so not everyone is going to like it. I just hope that the season picks up in the second half.
