Huge uptick in quality from last episode, Colin Robinson is an amazing sidekick but having an episode focused on him still worked really well.
Finally a great episode after 4 mediocre ones
[7.3/10] This was a fun one. Colin Robinson is the funniest character on the show in my book, so him getting his very own episode is a win. That said, I’ll be honest, I think he works better as a side dish than a main course, making dry comments or adding nice bits of comic relief here and there. Still, the show comes up with a good little story for him here, which I appreciate.
The idea that Colin genuinely cares for his “roomies” and is affronted by the fact that they don’t care about his big promotion adds the slightest emotional twinge to the whole thing. Him and his little portrait of the four of them is kind of sad and adorable. And the end, where he pretends to be dead to hear their kind words for him to show that they do care is semi-nonsensical, but a sweet enough note to go out on.
There’s also a lot of neat effects and weird humor at play with Colin in the office setting. The show finds a lot of fun ways to depict Colin’s power growing tremendously, from his one-swipe hair, to him flying, to his giant head, to his insta-drain. The episode mizes that nicely with fun “doper boss” humor, and there’s an amusing throughline with Colin feeding to new heights thanks to the fact that, as boss, people have to listen to him. Everything from him saying “dilly dilly” to his comments on a conference call were well-observed bits of corny office humor.
The B-plot with the rest of the vamps arguing over an old painting depicting Nandor sacking Nadja’s village was solid enough. It mostly got consumed by the Colin Robinson story, but Nadja’s murderous anger over it was entertainingly over-the-top, and Lazlo’s repainting solution was a nice end-of-show laugh.
Overall, I’ll admit I was a little disappointed that Colin Robinson feature episode wasn’t more of a laugh riot, but there was good stuff here, including him starting anew at a different company and beginning his throat-clearing hijinks once more.
hes the card you get on top of the deck that has the instructions on it, so you throw it away.
The quality upkeep this season has been so amazing.
I liked this episode very much. It was the best, most enjoyable one in the season, so far. That's all. Except I do have a question to finish it off. Does Colin still have the level of power he accumulated before all three Colin Robinsons drained each other, or was his power essentially reset? If he can control when his power is used, even in situations where he doesn't have to actively use it to drain people's life force, I think it would be fine if he's still that powerful, rather than having his power reset, or something along those lines. I think the latter would be a little cheap to do. Don't nerf Colin Robinson!
'I will wear your son as a dress!'
The whole episode was aces (Lazslo is leaking into me apparently), but it was "Persian Frank Zappa" that put me over the top. Really superb season so far.
This episode is what I like to call great updog.
What an amazing episode! Some great "The Office" vibes in Colin's job

Somehow in a show starring Matt Berry, Colin Robinson continues to be my favorite character. And this may have been his best episode yet.
