Was an interesting watch, but for a mystery show it wasn't much of a mystery.
I was so excited when I first watched the trailer and the same time was so afraid that it would go dark like "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina". Glad it didn't turn out that way and also surprised by the Agatha/Enola Holmes approach toward Wednesday. Absolutely love the music choices and memorable scenes (eg: Goo goo muck ball dance, Vivaldi & Paint it Black cello scene).
Looking forward to more seasons.
Jenna Ortega, I don't get it.
She’s like a textbook example of BPD borderline personality disorder. Loves playing the evil/dark side & then pretending it’s just an act. She really is evil & thinks it’s cute. It’s genuinely the most feminine dudes with 0 backbone that look for a dominating woman with that personality. She looks like a 5 foot, 14 year old crackhead, that’s tries waaaayyy too hard to seem like “I don’t care, I’m original” when in reality, she’s the least original, narcissistic type. She looks like 17 and 47 at the same time.
Oh, and she can't act.
As overrated as Billie Eilish, basically the same thing, just with music.
Had some really fun moments. Jenna Ortega absolutely KILLS as Wednesday, and her performance + dialogue is easily the best part of the show. However, the premise, while fun on outset, feels formulaic and overplayed. Almost no side character is compelling in any way, and the setting lacks the magic that it so desperately believes it contains. While the vibes are delicious, so many moments are laughably bad. Wednesday had a lot of potential that I think was slaughtered. In any case, a lot of people will enjoy this show for the silly-goofy energy of it all. Perhaps I would have liked it more closer to Halloween season
Great mystery that kept me hooked. Amazing performance as Wednesday, I think she only blinked 3 time's in the season, that death stare was amazing.
I appreciate the good time I had. Waiting for the next season.
i never write reviews because i am too lazy, but this show is worth writing. it is amazing, i watched whole series in a one go because it was interesting and i was intruiged. i can say that this show now is my all time favourite
I generally despise anything Tim Burton. He's just not my cup of tea, so to speak.
However loving almost anything Wednesday Addams I decided I would muster through an episode and I ended up binging the whole thing in a couple days. The darkness of the Addams family in general seems to work for Burton and he didn't overdo the darkness like he tends to with just about everything. Jenna does a fantastic job and the script is almost great and has you guessing at each turn. Just extremely well done.
My only gripe is that Wednesday jumping to conclusion over and over who the culprit is seems a bit out of character, even at 15-16 years old. She's very logical so it seems overly emotional she keeps leaping to the wrong conclusions over and over. Perhaps that was the point, but then that was not really apparent in any way, shape or form. Her ticking it off a list and then being proven wrong quietly would've been more believable. Still as a logical and supposedly amateur sleuth, this felt a little short of the character's reputation.
Overall almost a 10, so 9-9.5. I'm hoping to be able to look forward to another season.
Jenna Ortega really pulled this one out of the grave (hehe). I wish the supporting cast were stronger, but am looking forward to next season.
What an absolute breath of fresh air this show is! Loved it! Jenna's performance is superb, and the way its integrated into modern society works very well.
What a shame there are only 8 episodes, I could easily sit through another 8
love,love,love better renew 4 to 5 seasons
Really enjoyed the series. It's probably one of the best Netflix shows I've watched.
The story was really good pretty much from the start. We were hooked trying to figure out who the monster was. I also liked that they didn't do the normal and try throwing in some CW love triangle that ruins the entire show.
Vastly overrated.
This is basically just a Nancy Drew, Veronica Mars style murder mystery, but placed in a supernatural school.
If you're a 30-40-something year old looking to revisit the Addams Family for some creepy capers and what-not. This isn't for you. This is written for alt-teens who grew up on Disney Channel movies and are now at the point in life where they are trying to rebel. The only thing here for the older crowd is Christina Ricci popping up in a new role.
The show is entirely predictable from the moment the "Hyde" (monster) is introduced. Ask yourself, why are certain character 1 and 2 so prominent in the story? What are they seriously offering?... Oh, it's because they're the bad guy and whoever are the bad guys at the start obviously won't end up being so. There are zero surprises here.
Despite the world it's set in, werewolves, sirens etc., it's entirely unimaginative and lacking in any real depth. Wednesday is just a 15/16 year old kid trying to be a detective and sticking her nose in where she has no business. Everyone keeps telling her to go away and stop and she is just annoying as anything. She also just isn't creepy and at all threatening like Christina Ricci was in the 90s. Jenna Ortega seems to act like she's watched one too many movies of Hollywood depicting an autistic kid and rolled it all into one reclusive bundle. It doesn't help that the script is bad and cheesey to be fair to her but again, she's just a kid devoid of giving a crap... with some one liners thrown in to make her sound like she's threatening or creepy here and there just to remind you she's Wednesday Addams and not Veronica Mars.
I fell asleep three times trying to watch through some of the middle episodes.
Oh... and the CGI on the Hyde monster. HORRIBLE. So cartoon. If you want to be reminded "this is definitely not realistic", that CGI covers it off nicely for you.
This Show sucks don't waste your time. I mean seriously so pridictable that tyler was the hyde and the normal teacher was the sister of the guy Gomez supposedly killed. I mean even ray charles saw that coming.
I really think this show is overrated. I’m a fan of the original show from the 60’s, and both of the movies from the 90’s, so I was excited for this one. Well unfortunately, it’s definitely meant for teenagers. All the characters are fast talking, arrogant, and extremely sassy. This show was definitely made for the middle school and high school crowd.
Started really good, and... it turned out to be another teen drama “Woke Sabrina" show from Netflix.
A really shame
:heart:x7
Wow! does Ortega have some serious acting chops or was it CGI? I'd swear she did not blink a single time during the entire season.
Since this is a Tim Burton production do not expect a light-hearted comedy. The first episode did feel almost like the original TV show some 60 years ago. But then it evolved into more of a 21st century teen-angst drama mystery. I'm not saying the either one is a good or a bad thing - it's just how it is.
I enjoyed the show very much and am looking forward to more.
How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!
The first five episodes are epic, and top rate. Then it turned more and more into a generic high-school drama.
To end a genius dark series with a generic Hollywood style happy ending was a disapointment, it went from 9 to 4
The real evil in this series was the guy who made the trailer. The show was so much worse than what we thought we'll get. Incredible mediocre, with one exception, Jenna Ortega's performance.
Probably one of the most overrated shows I've ever seen in my life. it's entertaining and if you're bored you might as well turn it on- but it certainly isn't good. it's fine.
[tv+] The Addams Family turned "Home After Dark" meets "Harry Potter" may hold its own, but the series indulges in the standard product with some gothic touches without apparently having anything to contribute. The tendency to reconstruct the original stories in conventional productions that use the referent as a mere marketing element has become a common formula. Even Wednesday seems like another character, as if her sense of cruelty and darkness had to be explained through trauma or fragility. In Tim Burton's career it is one of his most impersonal creations, one of the least relevant contributions of his filmography.
Pure rubbish, bears no resemblance to the original at all. Bad choice of actors, most of them have at best weak similarities with the originals, but not Wednesday, who lacks all similarities just like the father unusually poorly done.
I think I'm rating this so low only because I had huge expectations for it and while some aspects make this a definitely interesting watch, it's overall quite disappointing in a lot of ways. There's an universe that's barely explored and characters are all over the place mostly because this is a crime show and everyone's got to be mysterious to be a suspect. The dialogue is downright terrible at times and honestly, Jenna Ortega is the one shining light in this entire thing. Some other characters/actors lend their strength (Gwendoline Christie is fantastic as is Uncle Fester's actor) but others make you want to turn off (sorry but Wednesday's parents? Just a big no. I know it's unfair to compare them to Angelica Huston and Raul Julia but for they seriously had no one better for that?).
Anyway, I'll try not to get too into the story itself but the backstory with the pilgrims was incredibly unexplored so the whole showdown at the end barely registers as interesting. The fact that both love interests are head over heels after meeting her one minute and considering how rude she is registered as super stupid. Mostly, Wednesday's relationship with Enid and The Thing were the two blessings in terms of relationships.
All in all, they were too many mysteries with way too many red herrings for such a short amount of episodes. I would still be happy to see a second season in the hope they correct some of these mistakes and take their time with some good storytelling choices. So still worth a watch, but try not to get in with too much expectations.
Got bored during the 3rd episode, rather a teen detective show at Disney levels than a dark comedy, won't keep watching it, overall poor.
Pretty bad.
A riverdale with a very cliched harry potter/sleepy hollow atmosphere. This is a show for 12/16 year old girls, this has nothing to offer for those who enjoy art. I don't know how something like this can have 8.2 on IMDb, I don't think anything in the series is really good. If you value your time, don't waste almost eight hours watching this. I guess it feels that way because the Target of the series is not a mature audience, the series is poorly developed, with a character who can conveniently have visions to solve what the plot can't give you on its own, apparently the character seems to criticize the banality of youth but while she looks like my cousin who listens to Nirvana, dresses in black and shares on social media how unique she is, merlina's character is not weird, she looks like any 14 year old cousin who pretends to be "different."
Nope, not feeling it, the cast doesn't feel right, neither does the storyline.
Good show, definitely liked the mystery involved. For most of the season, Wednesday's friends are way more loyal than she deserves, though.
A misfit with magical powers is sent to a school for misfits with magical powers? Uh... Harry Potter, anyone? Overdone and boring. And the Addams Family works best when they're juxtaposed with normal people. By sending Wednesday to a school of outcasts and weirdos, that's all gone.
Great show. Definitely worth watching. Hope there are more seasons to come
Gave the first two episodes a go and just isn't my thing, the dialogue and the jokes are just a bit corny for my liking. Just not to my tastes but I don't think there's anything objectively wrong with the show, I'm probably just not the target audience.
ok I am half way through series 1. and I am conflicted. on one hand, I am enjoying the show. but the other hand do i think this is "The addams family" not really.. it would have been a show that would work, if you change all the characters names. I dont know it kinda just feels again like another "Sabrina or The Order" feel. schools, secret socities, magic, mythics and popular supernatural tropes. Now dont get me wrong I love this stuff, but I dunno the nostaiga in me doesnt get a feel of the addams. maybe I am just tired of " reimagining and bringing things into the modern age" lack of new ideas and remakes, prequils and sequels just to cash in on popular franchises. but again this is not me down playing the "good story" or "well acted series"
I knew I wasn't going to like this show going in, but I saw some good reviews, so I thought I'd give it a chance.
Fundamentally, I disagree with this characterisation of the Addams family characters. This seems to derive from the '90s movie portrayals, which I also disagreed with, but here it skews even meaner and more literally monstrous. They seem to miss all the core elements of what made these characters likable to me from the '60s sitcom, in favour of violent, sadistic tendencies.
Wednesday also feels very much like a Riverdale-ification of this universe. While not at bad as some ('cause it's aimed at younger teens, I guess), it did start to feel like a gothic skin on an existing, generic mystery framework.
This is awesome. Shame it's one me and the Mrs commited to together and I now have to wait for her to be around to watch the next episode XD
Best show I've seen in a long time. Excellent cast. Was really concerned when the first interview I heard from the lead was how thankful she was as an actor of "insert race here". I was expecting another terribly produced woke preaching show, telling the audience how horrid we were for not appreciating all the woke nonsense being shoved down our throats. Instead I was pleasantly surprised by a thoughtful story with well planned tense moments and excellent acting.
Honestly my favorite show this year. And both Tim Burton and Jenna Ortega did the source material justice. Excellent all around.
What an interesting take on the historical fictional horror/comedy that is the Addams family with focus on the daughter, Wednesday. The show is all about Wednesday's life at a boarding school for the unique and how she leads the charge on solving some murders. The roles are very well filled with the correct actors, especially Wednesday played by Jenna Ortega, as the brilliant casting and is what makes this whole show for me. While the plot is good and the special affects are good, the character development is what gives this show a good rating.
Jenna Ortega is finally going to break into the mainstream. Fully deserved.
Although Jenna Ortega killed it. This just feels like another teen detective show with an Addams family skin. Needed more Addams family vibes imo.
I must be in the minority here when I say that "Wednesday" didn't fully convince me. I loved the general vibe, and I found Jenna Ortega's performance brilliant. Too bad, in my opinion, that the script didn't live up to the hype of the show itself. Most of the time I had the impression that I was older (I'm nearly 28) than the targeted audience! That must have been due to the abundance of clichées that are usually found in teen dramas.
The storyline either lulled in some places or felt a tad rushed in other moments... For instance, I don't get the insistence (symbolised by the two LIs and the bestfriend's dramatic outbursts) on the "need" for Wednesday to be loving or warm, aka something that the character itself has never been. Plus, after the emotionally heated bust-offs, it only took minimal "effort" for her to "apologise" and have her friends back to helping her, so I don't really get what the angle of this all was.
The two male (boy)friends lacked any believable character arc, and the bestfriend herself was at times little more than a vessel for plot development. On the other hand, I adored Gwendoline Christie as the dedicated and unconventional school principal and loved Luis Guzmán as the fiercely loving father and husband.
Ultimately, I don't know yet whether I'd give a second season a chance. I'll likely watch the first episodes to gauge the direction it will be headed in, but I don't think I'd be interested in a repeat (plot wise) of this first installment.
Very predictable main plot and bad CGI but still really enjoyable.
Mixed emotions on this show. I thought the first episode was kind of dumb, but a few episodes in it's getting a bit better. Jenna Ortega really does a great job and looks the part to a "T". People might feel the race swap for Wednesday is "woke" but it isn't when you consider her dad is Gomez, so her being hispanic makes total sense and in this case it worked well because she really does embody everything about Wednesday you remember from the shows and [terrible] movies.
The rest of the cast is fairly worthless. The most egregious of miscasts is Luis Guzmán as Gomez, he's terrible in any role he's done and he has exactly one character and that one character is NOT Gomez. Gomez went from being this "suave" guy to being basically the doofus from Boogie Nights. Fortunately he's not a main cast member, and hopefully he doesn't make many more appearances in the show because it's cringe worthy!
This is a show I find myself watching when nothing else appeals, meaning if something like Yellowstone has an unwatched episode I'm going to watch those shows before I watch another of these, and when I watch this it's generally background noise while I do something else.
If I had to classify this, I would say it's a "young adult dramedy" that's ramped up slightly from the normal "young adult" ball of cheese that all of those shows tend to be. I doubt I'll ever be a fan of this show, but I may watch the first season in its entirety.
Usually to avoid the disappointment, I try to not expect anything from movies or shows. On one hand I didn't expect anything about this one too, because of Tim Burton (I don't like his products). On the other hand, I was expecting at least something, and got disappointed. It's neither a comedy, nor some dark series. Also, from the very first episode, I got a feeling, I'm watching Sabrina - everything is pretty much the same - atmosphere, music, dialogs, storyline. Not sure, but maybe, if I haven't watched Sabrina, could be that I wouldn't have guessed who're the bad guys already on the second or third episode. Oh well... Also had a thought several times while watching, that Burton watched Sabrina multiple times himself before making Wednesday
Not saying it was bad. I enjoyed it a bit overall, but still disappointed
Excellent first episode,Tim Burton's a genius and the cast is top notch.A must watch.
"Directed by Tim Burton"? I'm in.
Excellent series .. very well cared for details bravo .. Tim Burton :clap_tone2::clap_tone2::clap_tone2:
I love it...but, we all know, "Adult Wednesday Addams," was the creative force...and, that she got royally screwed. Hide behind crooked copyright or trade name infringement laws all you want, there's room in this universe for a little comedy!
I absolutely hated this. They took everything queer and campy about the movies I grew up with and made it serious, edge lord BS. Wednesday literally goes torture someone for intel like she's working for the government.
They completely misunderstood what made The Addams Family movies special - the way we were in their shoes to see the mundane and everyday facets of middle-class, white, suburban, cishet life as absurd and creepy through their eyes.
Now Wednesday is at a school with other "outsiders" but all the "outsiders" just act like normal, spoiled, privileged kids? And there's so many mixed metaphors and wedged in wokeness, it felt like the script came straight from JK Rowling's Twitter feed. Werewolf is like puberty but also like being gay? But the girl we follow isn't gay? But her mom wants to send her to werewolf 'conversion therapy?' WTF is happening.
I didn't like Ortega as Wednesday at all, though I generally otherwise like her and was initially excited by her casting. I think directing and the script are largely be to blame. Her affect was too flat, and her dialogue was straight up cringe in several places. Again, it's like all the people in charge of this had no idea what made Wednesday so special and watchable.
This all made me wish we were getting Cristina Ricci playing Wednesday as a 40-something trying to keep her creepy roots while being a mom and wife. Or something. Just not this. Anything but this.
I enjoyed watching Wednesday. I never really liked the entire Addams Family franchise. However the character Wednesday was always to me amusing and haunting at the same time. Jenna is the right actor for the role and like the return of Christina (From the movies. She was great!) I hope to see another season!
This will destroy Rob Zombie’s Munsters. If only Burton did that as well. The casting gets knocked already. Jenna Ortega sold me from the trailer. Especially when she dances like her neck is broken in one scene, perfect lol.
Luis Guzman’s casting gets knocked the most. I did complain as well until I saw him next to a cartoon version of Gomez. He’s definitely not supposed to be as good looking as Raul Julia’s. Though Raul’s was fantastic due to his energy.
Just disappointing that it doesn’t appear that Lurch and Fester have been cast or in it.
Absolutely amazing series. The execution of every character was great. Can't get enough of 'The Hand' though. Eagerly waiting for the second season.
Started good ,but just for one episode , another nosedive like Sabrina still waiting for something like harry potter
My daugther loves it. Me too. I think the fascination is brought through all the good actors, Jenna Ortega is perfect!
The most energy that series creates is that Wednesday does not react with emotional overhead to reproaches, e.g. she is not reacting with childish emotions, she just accepts it and thinks that this is not worth discussing. That gives her more profundness than other characters in similar series.
It is a mix of Harry Potter, maybe the Slitherin version of it, and some school series input. ;) I like that mix.
I like Tim Burton productions, beginning with Beetlejuice, Batman, Mars Attacks and e.g. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.
I heard about this show and thought it would be dumb..But after watching the first two episodes I really got into the show and liked it..
What I don't understand, after seeing how the human becomes the monster and vice-versa, is if he has to buy his clothes all over again or they magically reappear in his closet. Also, didn't anybody notice a naked guy wondering in the town?
just throw any and all awards at Jenna and Burton already!
I very surprised this was directed by the master of macabre, Tim Burton. It’s like a semi-adult version of what you would expect for emotionally impactful scenes out of something like Monster High.
I had expected something more along the lines of a darker version of the Barry Sonnenfeld version. This felt more like one of Burtons films that flopped for me which were Alice in Wonderland or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, rather than one of his superior films like Beetlejuice or Big Fish which I also hold in high esteem.
Since they are finally filming season 2 now, I felt like rewatching again. This is the 4th time I'm watching it, I love this show so much! :sob: My WenClair heart
I'm not wasting too many words on this: it sucks. Definitely NOT AF. Jenna Ortega ruins everything she's in anyway.
Well, I've finally watched Wednesday and overall I found it to be just ok. I completely see what they were going for and I do see that a lot of my opinion on this show comes down to personal preference. There were a lot of things that they got right, the colour palette was absolutely stunning and fit the theme and I also loved the contrast between Wednesday, (black and white) and Enid, (colour) The cinematography and acting was also really good. For me, however, the storyline just wasn't engaging enough. There were elements of the story I was really invested in but then parts I just found kinda boring. I felt like Wednesday blamed everybody and suspected almost everyone of being the monster. I mean, all the characters here were morally grey which I did like however I think they tried to keep you guessing as to who the monster could be but I don't think they pulled it off in the way I was hoping.
Overall this show is ok and I will watch a second season as there is enough intrigue to keep you going, I just think it needs to step up its game in the second season
It's like a Harry Potter TV show if Hermione Granger was the lead. Enjoyed it and can't wait for season 2.
its nice but not 10/10 as média presents it to be
Jenna Ortega carries this show. The plot doesn't really make sense (Wednesday likes all things macabre but still wants to stop the one who does macabre things). But it's enjoyable, although you have to push through a lot of teenage angst.
I love this series. I have no complaints. Can't wait for season 2. I'm looking forward to this
Best series, i like that
I loved this show.. Just re-watched again.
After watching a few episodes I learned the show is a bit silly at times and shouldn't be taken very seriously. I liked the spooky and isolated atmosphere of the school. There was a good mix of friendly banter and light hearted shenanigans to bring up the mood. The story was intriguing and kept me guessing who the villains were.
At first I was put off by the over top cringey dialogue from the main character. It got less annoying the more I watched but it was still laughably cringey at times. I'm also not into teen dramas but this one was suprisingly enjoyable.
The show reminded me of a mix between Stranger Things and Harry Potter. Not sure if that's a good thing. I lost interest in stranger things after the 1st/2nd season. But to my surprise I found myself bingeing all 8 episodes of Wednesday in only a few days.
Modern Addams family drama, and Gwendolyn Christie, what's not to love? If you know the original Addams family comedy style, then you already know what to expect, just Wednesday focused and brought forward a few decades. It has it's occasionally wobbly story flaws, but it's good fun.
i loved this shows since the first episode, and my love for it grew with each episode, my favorite characters were Wednesday and Enid, especially Enid, ALSO. THING.
i didn't think i'd almost be crying over a HAND.
loved this show
super nice... and yeah Tim Burton in da house!
Very much enjoyed this, and I was surprised at how well Armisen played Fester. I'm not an Armisen fan very much, but damn did he rock in his portrayal of Fester. Arguably better than Lloyd in channeling Coogan, if that's what either of them were going for. The main thing that still troubles me, though, is the idea of outcasts. I get that this is a different Addamsverse, but in either the series or the movies, the Addams Family never thought of themselves as outcasts, or that they in any way needed a safe space for monsters. They barely even thought of themselves as "non-traditional". The other thing that I'm still working to get past, and I feel I have to chalk it up to the youthfulness of the character, is Wednesday consistently falling for red herrings and getting focused on finding facts to support her jumping to conclusion after conclusion.
Pretty great show and isn't overly edgy!
While I really enjoyed the show, and most of the episodes were good, overall the show suffers a bit as the main character gets enough second chances that she doesn't suffer too many actual stakes throughout the runtime, which happens to be hardly enough to successfully fit in everything from the shows overstuffed plot, and Wednesday's character development is a bit uneven in a way that makes some of her earlier comments come off as disingenuous. Still, the show is by no means horrible, and the main cast's acting as well as an awesome story engine carry the first season to a surprisingly satisfying conclusion.
Okay, it turned out way better than I expected. They managed to trick me. No immense plot holes I can remember. The ending was good. Now people seem to complain about the obvious inspiration from Harry Potter. Well, I must remind you Harry Potter was no different either. That type of plot and characteristics existed way before HP in the fantasy genre. So don't listen to these bs-s. If you trying to have some good times, you won't be disappointed. It's pretty good.
I ended up enjoying this way more than I thought, good show.
Ok, but why did the monster look like a cracked out version of the aliens from the Looney Toons 90's movie?
My husband and I finished the series last night. It kept us guessing right up to the end!
It was okay, I liked some of the characters but as soon as The Hyde came in I just couldn’t take it seriously, I mean wtf was that
It's good but not the best. I love the mystery story but the romance ruined the whole plot.
The love triangle is very unnecessary and I think Wednesday is a character that shouldn't have any love interests, at least not in this show.
Some of the characters are poorly written. I love Enid but some of her lines made me cringe. Same thing goes to Tyler. Xavier is an actual creep, I mean he basically stalks Wednesday and draws her all the time.
Not only that the characters are badly written but some of the scenes as well. Some of them are either really cringe or very boring.
All in all, I think it's a bit overrated.
Jenna Ortega carried the show. She embodied Wednesday completely.
Plus the vibes of the show are great, very harry potter but make it Tim burton.
I loved it! The aesthetics, Jenna and the fact that Tim Burton did this easily lured me in but I enjoyed it as a whole for everything the show was, I would have loved a bit more of them doing school activities but that is about it. I would definitely watch it again! Jenna was marvelous as Wednesday and the way it was filmed was incredibly beautiful. I am glad it is getting a second season.
S1: This was a very pleasant surprise. It doesn't have the most unique of plots, but it fits the mood and (admittedly generic) theme of the show. I especially enjoyed seeing Wednesday navigate normal teenage issues and watching her respond to them. I guessed the antagonist pretty early on, but even a bit of predictability couldn't ruin all the fun I was having.
Season 1 was good.
I liked it even though I knew who the monster was immediately.
It's so good, there is no moment of boredom for me.
And sometimes it reminded me of Harry Potter, the school, the tree, the sword, the name of normies, the games, etc.
The proof that Netflix can still produce great stuff
Had been a treat to watch for a HP fan like me.
A decent show that feels like a remix of Veronica Mars and Sabrina's Chilling Adventures. It doesn't really feature anything particularly interesting except that it fits with modern goth teens. I liked some of the parts of the show, especially the character relationships (Enid and Wednesday), but found the love triangle overdone and boring and the final conclusion of the storyline to be completely uninteresting. Throughout the show I had this underlying feeling that I was just watching emo Harry Potter.
This is a dark academia with a classical twist - unfortunately I struggled to see the comedic element of the show.
We got us a new Wednesday!!! Perfect cast n perfomance
This show is good, worthy for a 7.5, but not 8. Episodes felt long as they were slow paced. By Ep 05 I guessed who the main villain & monster were.
Main cast is great, Wednesday, Enid, Thing, Addams Family members and especially Weems.
I would not compare this to Strange Things, that show is on an another level.
being hyped up by tiktok way way too much
I wasn't expecting much from this show and was surprised by the quality of the first half of it : acting, music, story, dialogues, realization... Everything was very nice. Then the quality of the story and dialogues slowly started to fell appart until the cheesy Hollywoodian/Disney usual ending crap we're now unfortunately used too.
But it was, overall, still quite entertaining.
Trailer doesn’t do this show any favours
Not going to lie, I think "Adult Wednesday Addams" net series was punchier, wittier and all around better. That being said, this version is still a lot of fun, borrowing some DNA from the movies and from Harry Potter (minus the deranged venom of that author).
I really loved this show, all 8 episodes straight in one day. I enjoyed how Wednesday was played and how the character didn't really change over the episodes. The humour is also great and the relationships formed across the show.
Beyond belief great! Everything just works. The story updated from a very familiar tale, the actors, the plot twists, the music and Jenna Ortega is brilliant as Wednesday.
I feel like I just watched Monster High for a slightly older audience
39 year old here. I enjoyed this show. The only thing I wasn't impressed with was the actor choices for Morticia and Gomez. Anjelica Huston and Carolyn Jones we're way better.
Fun!
Constantly laughing out loud.
Jenna is captivating and steals every scene which is saying something considering the supporting cast. Clever writing and never tries to be something it's not. Navigates social issues adeptly without reminding you of all the messaging that shows up constantly now.
Wanted to give it a 10 and still might on a re-watch.
Different feelings, but It was a good show overall, but still I did see the woke stuff netflix mixed in some dialogues and scenes.
Woe what a show. Woe of the best shows made by Netflix. Drop everything and woe this show now. Woe won’t be disappointed. A woe entertainment.
Harry Potter meets stranger things

More like a teenage fantasy detective TV series.
