excellent and earned conclusion to a riveting season.

Jesus christ, don't let anyone involved with the writing for this season work in TV again.

Hey, I really wish they'd shown Navarro's visions were from water contamination, to tie it to the case, but it seems the mysticism was just for kicks, to fool us and give us a scare.

Checking fingerprints on the trapdoor after all that chaos with visions, someone falling into water, finding out it was the female indigenous milita lol, and then dropping it felt a bit random.

Anyway, wasn't what I expected but kinda liked it. Haven't seen the second or third season, so can't compare, but first one's still the best.

And see you later, Liz and Navarro.

(Sorry for my English)

The cleaning ladies raiding the place like they were Seal Team Six....lmao.
Seriously tho, this is the worst detective show I've ever seen.

loading replies

The only crime committed was the making of this season

loading replies

I was on board for the first two episodes, but this series went way way off the deep end.

What a truly disappointing waste of talent, horribly written female characters, just absolute utter nonsense. Offensively bad.

loading replies

What the f**k is this sh*t, start of female Sopranos? That reveal was almost as bad as the 8th season of Game of Thrones. A decent season up until this episode, however no matter how many times "time is a flat circle" gets repeated in this season, nothing can compare to Pizzolatto's masterpiece of season 1. Btw, Jodie Foster was the best part of this disaster of a season.

loading replies

So the serial killer police ladies let the indigenous uprising get away with mass murder, in a ridiculous and heavy handed revenge fantasy against nasty colonizers.

Really, really, really bad.

loading replies

Although the finale was decent, it couldn't have redeemed this season of its mediocrity.
I'm thinking that this would work better as an independent 2-hour movie, not under the "true detective" label, inlcuding the finale and the most relevant scenes of the 5 other episodes.
Sometimes I think 15-20 years ago they did 20-24 episodes per season and now they struggle with only 6. 4 out of 6 episodes were basically fillers

loading replies

Overlooking this whole season I think there were some good ideas that didn't come together in the end. In my opinion the first four episodes were just straight up bad (especially the pacing) and the last two (which were decent) couldn't save it. I do like how the story came together in this last episode, but that doesn't take away the bad taste this season leaves in my mouth.

loading replies

I've soldiered through all 6 episodes and now can have my informed opinion. I'm so glad this mistake is finally over. Unfortunately, it stains the big title name forever.

The fucking janitors?! Hahaha, who wrote this crap!

I LOVE this. I don’t understand how people can’t believe the women were capable of this. The Klan did it all of the time while fat and overweight. In the Country, we all have guns. We have meetings too. It doesn’t matter the type of country, cold or hot. Old school get backs happen in the dead of the night.

I wasn't entirely happy with the way Annie's death was portrayed, but other than that this was a perfect way to end the season.

  • So in reality they weren't trapped there all the time? They could have just used the Tsalal company car to drive away?
  • So they walked underground for miles in order to return to the cave below the research station (cause both the blocked entrance and the alternative entrance were a long drive away)?
  • An acceptable solution to this case. I'm grateful that this is just a very ordinary crime made worse by a coincidental avalanche with no paranormal stuff involved. No question left open. Unfortunately, there's no explanation for all the other uncanny shenanigans in this season and this is very disappointing. It was all just to scare us w/o any reason or connection to the case at hand. As I said before, I hate scary movies. The season would have been better w/o all that paranormal activity. They could have found a better way to illustrate traumas due to the loss of people you love and suicidal tendencies induced by such loss.
  • I hoped that this season ends in midsummer. It makes sense and offered at least a glimpse of the beautiful northern scenery.

What a Cluster F this was!
Ok so the cleaning ladies solve the crime by actually seeing a metal thingy and immediately deduct that this was the murder weapon !
There are no cameras on that place ? nothing outside, nothing on streets a huuuge truck had left the place (somehow it got there) and a bunch of cars with the cleaning ladies group appear at the compound. Then they left. No one saw that ?

Go Cleaning ladies club !

Also i really loved how the Captain said "i'm only doing my job" what job ? every murderer is free on that city! you kill someone, no problem let the police release you or not arrest you!

Well, I have no idea what to think. Glad it's over.
Made no sense whatsoever to me.

This could have been such a great addition to the franchise.
Could have done with a shoot out or something.
Instead we get old ladies getting away with Murder.

Best thing about the episode is reading the cry babies in the comment section.

too many revelations at once, but well, a somewhat acceptable bunch, with some questions raised how plausible it is overall.

the Navarro bit at the ending was somewhat too much blurred, and left a puzzled feeling just when the series ended. strange screenwriting there, it could have given a better last impressions if better filmed. as we watched it, we thought wtf is this last scene exactly, and why I understand what happened there, it didn't come thru as real.

loading replies

The Dark Knight Rises ending? Lol.

Also, I didn't know Andrea Risenborough was cast in this.

For me, the finale doesn't really work on a satisfying plot level as has been built from the previous five episodes -- I liked the resolution here in broad plot concept, but the details and in-world logic don't feel built sufficiently enough for that to land properly. However, it works well on visceral and emotional levels (I already loved having Foster's screen presence after not having seen her much in anything for so long, and the middle stretch of this ep regarding Holden is such great heartrending work from her) so I am mildly positive on the show overall. Didn't expect the final case resolution to remind me of Murder on the Orient Express.

The tie-ins to season one were pointless and didn't pay off. The super natural stuff was a macguffin. Felt like a lot of things happened for the sake of happening. The needle drops were artless; just someone slamming the PLAY button whenever they wanted.

Worst season of crime television I've seen for years. What an absolute mess. True Detective is truly dead.

1- What about the spiral on forehead of the scientist?
2- What about the tongue? =possible hint of supernatural powers of justice.
3- Why do did dears jump from the ledge in the first episode?
4- Why the same spiral from season 1? Location of these places are so far away. And this time nature showed these spirals not humans.
5- Was Tylor Sheridan involved in this? = Random sightings of 'Polar' Bear.
6- Is Navarro dead or alive? They showed her as walking into snow but she is present at Danvers house, also Navarro is missing......
7- What about the research to cure cancer and other stuff.....
8- Cleaning Ladies saw the star shaped weapon and understood everyone in Tslal station was involved in Annie's killing not some of them but all of them. How did they come to that conclusion?
9- Was Danvers the Mail Order Bride from Russia, she was always checking phones for notification of Tinder , Fantasy Football etc.
I don't they are trying to show that its 2024 and everyone uses phone as a normal thing, because no else was getting notification and saying random things as reason for notification.

Aw man...what was that? I hate to side with the haters and the quick to dismissers but after watching the whole thing - yeah...this isn't True Detective. It's missing a lot of what made season 1 and 3 so interesting. There is barely any police work, any putting together the pieces, and any monologuing about life. Instead, all of that is covered by spiritual stuff. Now I don't hate the supernatural but this isn't the series for it. Honestly, if this was some other police show and had 2 more episodes, it could work as its own thing. Heck, it was almost like a dark themed Twin Peaks here and there; spooky but not scary. I just want to say, that ending was really pulled out of the ass. Like damn, writer(s) really didn't know how to shoehorn it in better. This show was way more interested in covering the pulse of the town and just tossed in the corrupt police and the mystery solved in the last two episodes.

She's been hiding in those caves forever. Before she was born. After we all die. Time is a flat circle, and we are all stuck in it.

Season 4: Based on the star quality, I was hoping for something great. It fell short, not because of the performances, they were solid, but because of the tone and intention of the story. With few exceptions, all the characters are depressed, enraged or emotionally haunted. After much agony, enough pieces fall into place to solve the crime and, to a small degree, some character arcs are resolved. I’m just not sure it was worth the journey. I give the series a 7 (good but gloomy) out of 10. [Crime Drama]

It was an ok season (I think everything is better than S2) that started really strong but the ending really left a lot of plotholes. And I know that the "supernatural" part of it was just for shit and giggles; but the actual explanation was somehow worse. A lot of unanswered questions, side stories without much weight or even relevance and the actual ending not even fulfilling. From a terrific first season, to a horrible second one, an ok third one and now a less-ok one, it brings down the total score for me to a 6. Sorry S1, you should be a separate single-season-series with an amazing score
