Well this was an insanely stupid start to the season. It’s 2022 and both Russians and Czechs is speaking English internally, WTF!!!
But the most stupid is the decision to make Jack Ryan an Spec. Ops. guy. It annoys me more than anything.
Other bad things was the action, dialogue and the horrible editing.
Fine episode, but I can't believe they didn't get foreign actors to play Russians and Czechs, especially since they did do that in two previous seasons
They should have called this Jack Ryan Jr. We have completely left the Jack Ryan that Clancy wrote. Jack has no business and would never be apart of a recon team. This season also is shaping up to be Russia bad propaganda. The only thing this episode did do is make me wanna do is play a Ghost Recon game.
This was a good opener, maybe too much plot was already introduced, so that it's pretty obvious that the evil Russians aren't going to be the only enemy here. There's got to be someone else pulling the strings if we go down the obvious route of such series. Also, the loyal agent going rogue-trope has been done to death already. So I'll reserve final judgment of course.
3 things that bother me:
First of all, since when's Jack the super special ops guy? I liked him as an analyst. He should be the brains behind the brawn.
Secondly, while I appreciate not having to wade through subtitles when everyone talks in their native language, why do the Russians, the Czechs etc all have to talk in badly accented English? So that the viewer knows they should really talk in their native languages right now but we as the writers were too lazy to actually translate what they're saying? (And yes, I also had that beef with the Black Panther movies.)
And finally, I think it's really funny how the wheel of enemies keeps turning. Back in the ages it was the USSR, then it was some kind of remnants that abscond with nuclear material, then of course it was the islamists, now we're back to the Russians (usually with a bit of a sprinkling of Chineses nowadays).
That was great. I don’t understand the negative comments, seriously.
I thought I wouldn't like everything in English, but it made the show much better.
It's off to a good start. That CIA phone that sounds like the ones in the series 24.
Slow start like previous seasons, I only hope it gets as good as before. Can't believe they stopped using native speaking actors, but I suppose Netflix bent the knee to the idiots that can't read.
No way! why are the Russians speaking with a bad English accent? deal-breaker for me.
Solid pilot episode. I'm so ready for what's coming next. ( popcorn popping )
I think it's a great show, but I feel the narrative is just going to be all about 'Russia bad', which makes it just another political piece of propaganda...
It was a long wait for season 3 but what a start.
7.5/10 - A solid start so far :) And already quite a bit of action! :D
I still like that classical but nice/cool intro.
A USS warship, black ops, special forces, cars / car chases, etc. - what's not to like :D I love military scenes in movies.
Jack shouting "CLEAR" that loud on the cargo ship didn't seem that smart though?!? :o :D
"Thanks for the ride." "Thanks for the party."
It did however seem too unrealistic that they'd get caught that fast on greece and then multiple times after that (it should certainly be possible with good surveillance equipment like drones but they didn't show any of that).
And last but not least: That assassination that turned into a double assassination (the "fake" shooter) was quite something.
Finally a show where foreign parts are not spoken in native language. Don’t have to waste my time reading subtitles. All English shows should be made like this.
Slow start but by the end of it was very good.

Just finished watching the season premiere, and I must say, things are looking good so far. The lighting in this episode seemed noticeably dimmer compared to prior seasons, which might be because that the show is going for a more European aesthetic this time.
The episode’s score was particularly noteworthy. When it comes to Ramin Djawadi, he always delivers.
While “Jack Ryan” has some kinks to work out, I’m enjoying what I’ve seen so far and am curious to see where it goes from here.
