Violent. Bloody. Dark. Gritty. Bloodier. Finally, a DC show done right!
If this premiere is anything to go by, I'm so glad to have this show among us! DC's TV series gave been mostly uninteresting, to use an euphemism. With the exception of the more mature and better accomplished Fox's Gotham, the CW offering has been nothing but a subpar series of shows clearly aimed at teens. But Gotham will have its finale next year, leaving an uncomfortable void in the universe of DC's TV series. Though it's rather premature to affirm this, I am betting that Titans is stepping in to fill that gap just nicely. This pilot episode gave me almost everything I'd want in a DC show.
Being used to watch Teen Titans on the Cartoon Network with my little niece, I was disappointingly expecting this show to be in the same league of all those CW series. But, after only a few minutes, I was so happy to be wrong! They made sure to let us know that this ain't a show for kids. The premise, though barely scratched in this episode, looks promising and the few characters that appeared look intriguing and appealing. This was a pilot episode well done in the sense that I'm already craving for more. And that's all a pilot episode should do.
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with the way they've kicked off what is shaping up to be DC's most somber show yet.
Fuck Batman!
So far I like it....
this was surprisingly very good, definitely gonna keep watching
This was not to bad.
they done German properly. I'm impressed.
Great start! Each character has a great beginning! I loved every moment esp. Beast Boy at the end stealing a video-game with his powers! =D I Cannot wait for when Jason Todd comes in!!
Great start, hope keeps going that way !!!
My hopes weren’t too high because of the trailers but It was so much better than I expected. Can’t wait to see the next one.
I just saw the first episode and I really liked it. It got me right away with it's dark tone. I will definitely keep watching.
So far I dropped every super hero themed show with the exception of Daredevil and Punisher which both got canceled. So I am always reluctant to start another. This pilot looks promising but I'll have to admit I am not sure I can connect to a group of young superheroes. The story has to be good, too.
I found some DC a bit cheesy but this is damn gripping :ok_hand: nice work love it
I thought I’d give this show a try because I like Doom Patrol a lot and I have to admit I’m pleasantly surprised. It’s darker and more grown up than I thought it would be.
Senti falta do Cyborg, ele não vai aparecer não??
It is so dark, it is DC.
I am one of those people who thought this looked bad just by seeing one picture. While the trailers didn’t convince me either.
It’s actually pretty cool though. Despite Starfire and Beast Boy looking like they hopped out of a Descendants movies.
One of the most entertaining things Aliva Goldsman (Batman & Robin) has given us in years. Either way though.
I'm excited about following this new show. Feels like it will slowly build and I'm all ready counting the days for the next episode.
That was a pretty good series premiere. Starfire wasn't as bad as I was anticipating. In fact, she along with the scenes she was in, were the best part about this episode. I'm looking forward to watching the next episode and so forth.
I SO LOVE this show!! This is NOT your parents DC! Definitely for a more mature audience.
Only watched the episode out of curiosity. It grasped my attention. Liked the dark setup, the R level fight scenes and the explicit script. I mean fuck Batman!
Wondering if they just put everything they had in the premiere or if they are going to keep that level.
Also, the CGI was really good for a tv show. Again, they may have burnt everything for the premiere.
We’ll see...
Well, that was some extremely average first episode...
Awesome season premiere! Looking forward to the next episode!
I'm so glad that Sherilyn Fenn/Angela Roth won't be in any future episodes. She's not a good actor.
What to say?
It wasn't boring, but there also didn't seem to be a real story here - Just a bunch of characters with bits and pieces of a story.
Somehow like a NETFLIX-Show, but those get released in bulk, so you don't have to remember everything for a week.
I hope this gets connected fast or I see a cancellation coming. I'll definitely continue to watch, but at this point to be honest, I wouldn't really care if that was it...
ow the god damn edge
Really. Really. Cheesy. Why do bad guys karate hop holding a gun. Do people really buy into this
Not too bad. The violence is a bit cringeworthy (lord, save us from overly gritty superhero stories), but there's a confidence to it all that feels reassuring. I guess that's what you get for hiring Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter to develop your superhero show. It might not be a home run from the start, but at least it's not going to be embarrassing.
How do u even watch it?
Pleasantly surprised by this pilot and totally not the B-rate kitchfest I was expecting. It's good to see a show that doesn't try/has to ignore the greater narrative of the comics universe and can actually namedrop others ("Fuck Batman"). The shows seems over-the-top violent, even more than Daredevil, but I don't mind that at all. It's dark and the visuals ofcourse reflect that but maybe in that case it's a wee bit too dark. Add some neon, something, bit more light!
Curious to see where this show goes from here...
I didn't like this season premiere! I thought the characters were badly featured for a debut episode. Raven is played by a weak actress. Although the girl tries to pass the truth on the character, he can not and gets extremely tired inside the role. In no scene did she get me. Character's appearance is very generic too. Dick Grayson is well played by Brenton Thwaites, but the character is extremely poorly written. He's too violent for Dick Grayson's Robin, more like Jason Todd. Despite being out of character, I quite liked the hero's outfit. It could only have more vibrant colors. Starfire is well interpreted by Anna Diop as well, but her appearance is awful. Her costume is very tacky and that fake wig is horrible. I hope they improve the character's appearance throughout the season because the actress is good and deserves more. Beast Boy appears only at the end, but I really enjoyed the special effect of his transformation. You can not say much about the character. I found this episode drawn and it seemed that it never ended. Despite this, I enjoyed the introductions of Dick and Kory, showing the traumas of the characters. Dick, in particular, left me interesting because he has a story behind leaving his partnership with Batman. The special effects were very good for a TV series. As I said before, I really enjoyed the Beast's transformation and the feats of the powers of Starfire and Raven are good. Overall, a very weak and uninteresting beginning for a number of Titans. I also found an episode full of gratuitous violence. I hope it gets better in the second episode, otherwise it will be difficult to keep up to the end.
Finally a action filled, gritty superhero show that doesn't shy away from showing the bad guys getting a well deserved and bloody beating.
promising first ep! looking forward to the rest.
Oh, DC, you and your crappy CGI. You were doing so good up until that point smh
The only reference I have for this is from watching the cartoon as a kid. But I remember I used to love the dynamic between Raven and Beast Boy. Can't help noticing that Cyborg is missing though.
I went into this show pretty nervous. As a big fan of the Teen Titans in the comic books I wasn't sure what direction they would go. By the end of the episode I was pretty happy though. It was never going to be a page to screen representation. That would never work, but I'm happy with the choices they've made so far.
Robin/Nightwing is gritty and damaged like he should be. The alleyway fight scene was well done and brutal. Loved the aftermath of him washing the blood from his gear. Something we never get to see that really underlines it.
Raven. Hmm I'm glad they're doing an origin/realisation. It works better for her to find out with us what she's really about. Interesting that they seemed to have her as the focal point of the arc.
Starfire. VERY different direction but not unwelcome. Some things have to change drastically to work on the small screen. She owned those scenes as is absolutely stunning. Can't wait to see where her character goes. That fire blast was insane!
Beast boy. Well what can I say? He morphed to steal a damn xbox game. I'm on board.
Fuck Batman
So far, I like it quite a bit, even though the amount of violence seems silly, like they're trying to make the show more "adult".
Also, some of the characterizations are a bit off, like when Starfire flat-out murders a guy who has already been subdued by casually snapping his neck, or when Beast Boy breaks into an electronics store and steals some video games.
Those minor points aside, I'm really interested to see where they're taking this. I'm really looking forward to seeing the live-action Hawk & Dove, which is something I never thought I'd ever see.
I'm all for revamps with a gritty edge but this was disappointing given how great the original mythos of the Titans. If you followed the original, you'll understand.
First of all, what's up with Dick? His attitude and fighting style is more like Damien! Dude, you kicked some serious @ss in the alley, but do you REALLY need to stomp them when they are already incapacitated? You didn't learn that from Batman. Seriously, no wonder he said "Fvck Batman." For someone who didn't want to become morally corrupt, he's already there. Although the role was badly written, the actor does a decent job as filling the role.
Second; what's up with Firestorm? She styled like a 1990's version of Donna Summer. And what happened to her energy blasts? Just because her name has "fire" in it, it doesn't mean that she has to shoot actual fire instead of energy blasts. And what about when she lit up that room and bad guys with her fire blast? People charred to used charcoal briskets, even the glass on the desk melted YET the a photo sitting directly next to the melted glass and bottle is just a little singed at the bottom!!! WTF??!!!
Third, look at Garfield. I can take that he is now using his powers to break in to stores to steal videogames, BUT AS A FREAKING TIGER??!!! How does that help him? How did he open doors? Gar was a kid in the comics and the cartoons but he was at least smart about his choice of animals to become when he needed his powers. In this case, he would have just turned into a chimp. He would have found an open window or vent, sneak in, swipe the game and had gotten out without anyone knowing. But a TIGER??!! Hell, why didn't he choose to become an elephant??
Finally, Raven's character and story was good enough. It felt like it could be a plausible offshoot of her original story. No real qualms about her, but it was just the first episode.
All I can say that Titans is no Gotham in its quality of embellishing the mythos, although Gotham is telling the backstory which helped create the great ethos which created the world of Gotham.
I haven't given up on Titans, but I feel that it will provide many mock worthy scenarios in the upcoming episodes.

This episode was a disappointment. It made me hate everything I used to love about Titans as a kid.
I expected so much from this show but I forgot DC and WB has decided to disappoint everyone.
First of all the age difference between the characters makes the team look weird.
Second there is something way wrong with the designers and make up artists.Robin looks like an idiot.Starfire looks inappropriate and Raven and Beast Boy looked like punks.
Third none of the characters were good except Dick and you can fast forward everything without Dick [since there was no role of Beast Boy in this episode so I can't say something about him right now]
Fourth Dick is too old to be a Robin they should have casted him as Nightwing, then people will take him seriously.
Fifth the action was average.
Sixth I thought Dick will be cool but he was more like Bruce rather than Grayson.
Seventh Since the whole show revolve around Rachel, I don't think she will improve any sooner.
Eighth Since when Dick and Starfire started to murder people.
Still I'll give this season a chance.
