I do think Randall would be a good councilman, but I'm not completely on board with the storyline. A part of me is disappointed he didn't take care of his wife when she lost her job and had a hard time. Instead he jumped into the next big project and dragged his family into it without really discussing it first.
I'm actually glad things didn't go smoothly now and thought he would finally "come back home", but instead he made it worse by ignoring his wife's wishes. I really love their family, so it broke my heart seeing him so stubborn and seeing their first step towards divorce (?). I'm really, really upset about it tbh. The flash forward was ~ 10 years into the future, so it doesn't seem like some short break, but an actual divorce and it honestly even makes me angry because they were the only couple I never wanted to break up >_< I want to believe it's a misdirection and they're still together, please.
I find Nicky a really interesting character, mostly because I just feel him. I can understand how he didn't want to be in the war, took drugs to deal with it and then did something desperate to escape the war. The question here is whether he faked his own death (but then he wouldn't get mail in his real name) or did something so horrible that Jack pretended Nicky died (but how bad must it have been for Jack to really abandon his brother).
Really curious how this plays out.
I think he didnt fake his death. He wouldnt had his birthname. I think he killed civilians in the explosion and he got sent to jail. That would explain why everyone of his family would deny him being alive.

And Beth and Randall are divorced in the future? That is heartbreaking, their couple is the best.
I really really hope that Kate and Toby are going to have that baby because if not, I think my breakdown will be worse than all those episodes about Jack dying.
