As soon as I saw this show had Chris Pratt in it with a military theme, I knew it was going to be awesome. Binged watched the whole Season 1 in a single Sunday afternoon. :ok_hand_tone2:
Chris Pratt is not that good... but I like this kind of show with a modern setting and the atmosphere. It lacks impactful characters tho even if I love Taylor Kitsch (Texas Forever) and some clichés (Middle East bad people, all military with PTSD, etc.).
First episode was top notch, binge watch the rest.
Pretty good revenge story that I found compelling enough to make me prioritize it in front of other shows I was watching at the time.
Enjoyed this show, binged watched over the weekend.
A horrible piece of military propaganda primarily aimed at the type of ‘real’ men who like to consume too much beer and hang around in their own garage while listening to Alter Bridge.
It’s dumb, derivative, dull and devoid of interesting ideas or characters. You’re not going to find any fun here, everything is trying really hard to be dour and dramatic, but the writing is so generic and boring that it doesn’t work.
Chris Pratt's charisma is stripped away and instead he's playing a generic, brooding character that could easily be portrayed by any actor.
It just begs the question: why cast him in the first place? It requires little to no range, so why didn't they just cast a cheaper actor?
Any interesting cinematography is obscured by desaturated muddy grey tones, the color grading really makes the whole show looks like trash. It tries to be cinematic, but it ends up looking all the more cheaper for it.
I don’t get why people watch this, is it because of the patriotic undertones? Watch Top Gun Maverick. Is it because it’s a little more violent than most movies and shows? Watch Daredevil, the execution of the action is way better and it’s got plenty of Christianity as a bonus.
3/10
I'm always skeptical of Amazon Prime shows, they are hit and miss, but this one hit it out of the park. An action thriller with Chris Pratt taking a serious lead role as the legendary Navy Seal who has his world turned upside down, and hunts down those who have hurt him with decades of battle experience - Watched the first episode then binged watched the rest and I will say that I loved every episode and all the characters in it. A great action thriller that leaves you very satisfied with the ending
If you haven't seen it, your missing out.
I watched the first episode out of curiosity, ended up binging the whole thing. There are some clichés, but most of the cheap story beats I've seen coming from a mile away didn't come at all, characters are actually smart, and the setup feels solid with no easy answers that just push the story forward. It is kinda man against world (even tho he has some help), up to a point of taking on a whole squad of trained combatants, but that's acceptable in this kind of TV.
If you have a free weekend, then I can recommend this as a good TV to binge. It works as a single story with no cliffhangers which is rare, but there is an open ending - it's based on the first book in the series that currently has 5, and Pratt himself also said that it'd be cool to continue the series.
I really enjoyed it. I thought the writing was really solid and avoided many of the cliches that a lot of action series have. The acting & story were great too (I have not read the book). The only thing I would have changed was to have less hallucination sequences about his family.
Today in Jingoistic Action: The TV series....
Chris Pratt returns to his Zero Dark Thirty Roots. He sells it. In theory you should be distracted by your memory of his more goofy comedy characters but it's more than just a baseball hat he sells his character to the point where you don't really think about it.
Now Sleep...
It's a dark show. Night night time show. But actually it's not awfully lit for what it is. You don't spend episode after episode turning up the brightness on your TV because you live in a house and not a pure black room. Visually it's comprehensive and that's always appreciated. Now in a metaphorical sense. It's also pretty dark. I never saw Zero Dark Thirty because there are limits to how much jingoism I can take. But there's a lot of violence to "salivate" over that exists only for that purpose. It's not torture porn or anything but if there was a dog in this series it would have been killed violently in a way that hurt.
A Tale as Old as Time...
The story here is compelling enough. It starts out with James Reece (Chris Pratt) losing all of his men in a botched raid. When the higher ups want to blame the dead soldiers for losing control, Reece refuses to go along with the narrative that insults his dead comrades. Eventually he thinks he finds a conspiracy and there's a lovely bit of ambivalence as to whether Reece is imagining it or not. Very like the series Evil on network TV.
Good show with good action. nothing more nothing less.
With a plot that could have been written by a 15 year old and god awful action sequences, I don't get what the fuss is about.
The John Rambo, version 2022.
Eh, typical, predictable NAVY Seal - glorification. Nothing particularly impressive about the show, but nothing terribly bad about it either, so not much more to say.
[Prime Video] An algorithm production that seems also designed automatically. There is some suggestive plot at the beginning, around an unreliable protagonist, absorbed by the trauma, but not to worry, now the pharmaceutical companies can also be used as the axis of evil. The series soon follows the conventional and predictable path, building fireworks to hide its lack of depth.
It’s an ok watch. Don’t expect too much… and you won’t be disappointed.
This is by far Chris Pratts best role yet. I don’t get the bs comparing it to Reacher which was a shit show. Pratt was made for this rule and you can telling the experts were apart of the show and Pratt himself did a lot of training for the right ways to use a weapon and the fighting was great too.
The story was on the edge every episode, it didn’t feel long and drawn out. They kept find ways to add more to List
This is one of the best if not the best Military/Revenge show I’ve seen in a decade
Hope he does more roles like this in the future.
Going in I actually thought this was another Tom Clancy show. Which it feels a lot like but the books aren’t by Tom Clancy which I am surprised to learn.
With that said this is pretty under-rated. It’s about as good as Reacher and maybe better than the Jack Ryan show. Much better than critics said.
It isn’t fresh of course but it’s a fun summer movie like series with an excellent cast.
great beginning and thru first 7 episodes BUT THE ENDING WAS TERRIBLE !!!!!!!
Great first episode with a solid beginning and a DN strong finish. About to binge this over the weekend.
Ive been looking forward to this, fingers crossed its worth the wait.
I'm excited for this show. Getting real Homeland vibes.
It started off good, but it felt like it got slower with each episode.
Good movie. Really worth watching. Only eserback was too much of flahback of the murdered family.
The Terminal List is a show that's more action-packed than a drill sergeant's boot camp. It's got more explosions than a fireworks show on the Fourth of July, and more plot twists than a rollercoaster ride.
The show follows the story of James Reece, a Navy SEAL who's on a mission to uncover a deadly conspiracy. With a cast of characters that includes CIA agents, Russian spies, and corrupt politicians, the show is like a game of military chess where everyone is trying to outmaneuver each other.
And let's talk about the action scenes! They're more intense than a PT test, and will have you sweating bullets. From high-speed chases to epic gun battles, the show is a non-stop thrill ride that will have you on the edge of your seat.
Overall, The Terminal List is a show that's perfect for anyone who loves military action and suspense. It's like a military-themed soap opera, but with way more explosions. So, if you're looking for a show that will make you feel like you're part of the action, then The Terminal List is definitely worth checking out!
Expected a lot more from it, poor watch tbh
Really good war drama revenge story. I was not expecting the end on the boat, that Ben was also involved in the initial plan, given how much he's helped him after he returned.
:wave:Hi all,
:point_up:Is one of the best series :tv:
of action, thriller.. 2022:heavy_check_mark:
I don't really get what the fuss is about. For me, it's a less entertaining version of Netflix's "The Punisher". It's basically the same big-picture plot. The government is up to some kind of shady stuff, a marine in the wrong place/time gets a whiff of it and as a result, they try to kill him but end up killing his wife and children. So he doesn't rest until he finds out who's involved and kills every one of them. And throughout the show episode by episode, the audience discovers the plot of what the government was really up to and why the protagonist's family was targeted.
I would not say this show is more mature or realistic than "The Punisher".
I really liked The Punisher, and I found this show lacking. Mostly because 'The Punisher' is character-driven and this show is mainly action driven. Don't get me wrong, Punisher has all the action scenes as well, but the real focus of the show is the relationships between the characters, which makes you care about them. This puts weight behind the action scenes. In this show, on the other hand, I found it hard to care for any of the characters. The only character trait the protagonist has is that he wants vengeance for his family.
In my opinion, if you're in the market for a series about a man who's set out for vengeance for his wife and kids, 'The Punisher' is a far better choice than this show. (And it has two seasons).
This is kinda bad. In John Wick, the bad guys kill his dog and everyone watching is verklempt. Here the bad guys kill his family and all his friends and you're like, well, it moves the plot along. Cliched and tedious to watch. Chis not-Pine-not-Evans really isn't suited for this role.
On Amazon Prime, watch Reacher instead. It's turning out to be a hoot.
Really great show. I hope they don't ruin it by making a sequel or something stupid
Good and exciting show all the way through. Loved it!
Excellent series, loads of action, way to many feels and a nice plot to drive it all home
This is the best role I've seen for Chris Pratt that's not a comedic Parks and Rec or Guardians of the Galaxy. I sure hope that this show can continue to adapt the books for a few more seasons because it feels like Pratt finally has a non-comedic role he can fill well. Good for him I say. This show hasn't been an exact adaptation but it is pretty close, and we'll produced.
Overrated piece of sh*t
Avarage American propaganda with full of bs.
Shoving American soldiers as heroes into our throat again by fighting the terrorist orgs they created. And where the f.ck is this kurdistan? Bribing and Lobbying are the back bones of the American system?
Great show sound technically did some range ops and war games with Seal Team 1 back in my USCG days think Pratt is doing the book best he can for a series The books writer is on his production team
:heart:x6
Not the greatest show but definitely watchable and enjoyable. It does get a little slow at times tho.
How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!
Wow what a great show this was!
I've only seen the first episode so far, but that one already kept my eyes glued to my screen. It may be your standard military/navy series in certain ways, but it still has something to it that kept me interested.
I finished watching Parks and Recreation a few weeks ago, so when I saw this series pop up in my recommendations, the first thing I thought was 'wow, so Andy's dream is kind of coming true in some way, even though it's a bit different from being a secret agent', but trust me when I say that that thought of mine got crushed pretty hard; this is definitely not his dream... I don't mean to say this series is bad by saying this, but just start watching the series and you'll get what I'm saying, I recommend watching it as it kept me interested throughout the whole thing, like I already said earlier. It's a bit late now, so I can't binge watch through the rest of the season, but I'll definitely continue tomorrow!
This is a very exciting series.
Overall I liked the show, however, I much prefer the book. The show creates its own narrative after the 2nd episode or so. It's the same plot as the books. Some of the killing methods Reece uses in the show are the same as in the books, except the people aren't always the same Howard wearing the s-vest instead of being gutted and eaten alive in the Florida swamps.
I did not like the final episode though, I think they diverted too much from the book, such as the SecDef killing herself and Ben helping Reece assault the SecDef estate, instead of being in the room with the SecDef and having an dead-man switch around Buranek's neck.
This series reminds me of another TV series Sniper. Terminal List has a larger body count. Nothing really spectacular. I don't think this series will got legs.
Holy moly!I loved it.An outstanding performance by Chris Pratt.Man nailed it.Episode 1 to 7 was excellent plus the 8 that was pretty good except the ending that was really disappointing. All in all,the best action show released so far this year for me.Highly recommend!
Good but could be better, well only the last 15 of every episode had some action, would have been better if there was action throught out the episode, spread across. Chirs was great for me and story had its twist
Great show so far, about half way thru third episode. Seems like a typical evil contractor show so far but done well with plenty of action and some who done it mysteries.
My only complaint so far is the casting. I love Chris Pratt and Taylor Kitsch but Pratt just can’t do the quiet brooding stuff. I think it would have been even better with Pratt and Kitsch playing each other’s parts.
I had a hard time dealing with the extreme differences between the book and the series. I'm over it and thought it was very exciting on its own.
A fantastic show though I haven't read the novels. if you are a Jack Reacher or Jack Ryan fan I can only give this show a watch. I loved the story and weapon handling. It's an unusual role for Chris Pratt to take given he is usually known for his unique role in the Guardian of the Galaxy and Jurassic movies. To my surprise, Chris Pratt pulled it off.
Really liked this show, Chris Pratt was fantastic in this.
been binge watching it for the last few days.
Review by Kalebe AlvesBlockedParent2022-07-03T10:04:01Z
Though it's a simple story, the show is pretty consistent, and coesive. Like how they aknowledge that some operatives are not the best, but had some basic training and at least have some idea of the situacoes in a organic maner. It's kinda cheap, but it works most of the time.
And that reporter. It's hard to see journalist work so exciting as in this series. She is so sharp. There are a few instances were you can see that clearly, but one that's fresh cause I just finished the series, it's when she points to little inconsistencies in heartley testimony that changed the whole picture... That's the kind of work that really good journalists are known for. Not necessarily putting themselves in danger, but going after the facts, laying down correct timeline, and pointing inconsistencies. Great work from whoever was their consultant in this series for this.
I saw that last "twist" ever since episode 5 when they show the cap list. It's actually pretty obvious, especially in the next episode with all the cover up thing.
Still got me sad though. Chris acting is kinda mediocre, but it don't know... The silence, his lack of urgency... The way the other person just accepted his end... Made it all sad.
