Season 3 of The Mandalorian ended up being a big let down. While I found most of the individual episodes to be good, when you look at the season as a whole it feels quite lackluster and falls incredibly flat. A lot of time was wasted on episodes that just didn't serve the greater narrative well-enough. This show has more or less always been about side quests and adventures with Din and Grogu, so I try not to knock the show when it does get into side quest territory. But the first two seasons also had underlying narratives with a main story and an arc that was paced throughout the season. Here, there is somewhat of an attempt to do that, but it feels contained to just a couple of episodes and the rest of the season doesn't fit together. Therefore the finale just fell so flat for me. Also, the charm of the show seems to have warn off a bit with this season. Din was an interesting character because he was this rogue mandalorian making his way through the galaxy solo, who finds a companion and they start doing this together. By season 3, we've lost a lot of that. I do get that this feels like a good progression for the character, and I don't mind that he becomes more connected with the other mandalorians, but he also felt pushed to the side this season so that other characters could shine. Those other characters are executed somewhat well, but not well enough to justify taking so much focus away from Din, in my opinion. To me, this season was off to a great start as it built intrigue and some good standalone episodes, but as it went on it became more clear that the writing just wasn't given enough care and any sense of an overarching story in the midst of the little adventures was not given enough time. The visuals were great and the direction was very enjoyable, but everything else feels meh. And while I still enjoy these characters, I felt myself starting to lose interest in them this season.
6.1 // Decent
Season 3 is a few steps down in quality from the previous seasons. ITs not bad, but just not as superb as before.
It's disheartening to read comments criticizing the series for not living up to the standards set by previous seasons and for lacking action in some episodes. I advise viewers to have patience because there is undoubtedly a bigger plan in store for the series, masterminded by Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau, which will likely involve other shows dedicated to other characters.
i respect differing opinions, but I think it's important to recognize the unique nature of The Mandalorian. It's a show that blends genres and explores the Star Wars universe in exciting ways. It's not just about flashy action scenes, but also about character development and building a world that feels authentic and immersive.
Overall, while some viewers may feel disappointed with certain aspects of the third season, I believe it's worth sticking with the series and giving it a chance to fully unfold. With Filoni and Favreau at the helm, I have no doubt that there are some exciting surprises and twists in store for us.
5 episodes in on Season 3 and it's.... incredibly mediocre so far. The writing and the fights have taken a big hit on quality.
This was a very weak season compared to the first 2. It wasn't exactly 'bad', but the vast majority of it was totally aimless and felt like a monumental waste of time. Felt like the last couple of episodes were the only parts worth watching. They made a big mistake continuing Grogu's story from the end of S2 in The Book of Boba Fett show instead of S3 of this one.

A very cool season that starts kind of slow, but really picks itself up the second half. I loved the way they keep expanding the story of the Mandalorians in the Star Wars universe as I believe they are one of the most interesting characters in the series.
It continues to be the best (disclaimer: haven't watched Andor yet) spin-off show in the franchise. I liked seasons one and two better. I guess, I liked the space cowboy vibe of the earlier seasons better....
This third season is well produced, has all the nice costumes, stages and FX that became a trademark of this show. Score is again awesome. And yet, the season's ranking is worse than the mean of all episodes' It simply doesn't tell a concise story. It takes forever before you realize what the main story is supposed to be. Some parts of the story seem to be totally unrelated to the overall story. Even totally inconsequential. It often feels like an open world-game. They have created this huge open world and sometimes they decide to tell side-quests rather than an actual story.
It's absolutely worth a watch though. Just don't expect a complex story. Enjoy the visuals and the cute kid and you'll have a couple of hours of innocuous entertainment. Cleaned from all edginess by the Disney corporation.
Season 1 and 2 was doing incredible for the universe and so season 3 needed to grab the success and continue it.
They missed the mark so hard that even a sloth can shoot straighter than them.
The story is weak and didnt make any sense. Especially since allot of the story is actually in the book of boba. So season 3 makes even less sense when coming straight from season 2. Like disney really expects people to watch every show they produce for you to understand one series you want to follow only.
Now to just the season 3 issues, there is way too many back and forths, and i mean like a character goes to a place, comes back and then goes back to that place. Instead of taking people directly there already.
Then the dark saber story (which has allot of significance in starwars from both old and new lore) is ruined and left to be forgotten.
The mandalorians united in such a weird way.
Grogu is back despite the setup of season 2 that shows that he wouldn't be back.
There is still so many plot problems that i cant get my head around. Ofcourse there is some nice things but its still awful.
[Disney+] If the first season brought a kind of western tonality that differentiated it from other "Star wars" stories, even more developed throughout an irregular S2 but sometimes even better than the first, in S3 the Mandalorian has completely lost the North, the story doesn't know where it is going, it looks sideways at the narrative structure of "Andor" (2022) without being able to catch up with it and only in the final episodes does it seem to return towards a plot that ends up being too much debtor of the conventional stories of the saga. This should definitely be the last season.
Fantastic seri, it's definitely on my top 5! Cant get enough of it.
Din Grogu is da best! Every episode he does something more adorable than in the previous episode. lol
The final 2 episodes were good, but the buildup dragged on and on. And they should really decide what to do with Grogu - just being cute and cooing all the time doesn't cut it anymore.
This season's end feels a bit like a series ending to me: Mandalore's back, the Mandalorians are reunited, Gideon's (presumably) dead, Djarin finally adopted Grogu... and goes back to his bounty hunting days. They'd have to do a whole new arc now, hopefully adding some time jump for Grogu to grow up some.
After season two I was wondering how they could top this. Well, they didn't.
And while that in itself didn't surprise me, because bringing back Luke was HUGE, I often felt they didn't even try. This season, while still good overall, felt like an over length movie where they did forget to cut out the unnessessary scenes. My average rating for this season dropped a full two points. And that's a lot. There were few great episodes, some good but also some really weak ones.
Din was a side player a lot of the time (which was later confirmed as being intentional). I expected this season to be about his redemption but that got dealt with very fast. The story centered more around Bo Katan which I'm absolutely fine with. I also like to have more Mandalorians in general. Now, Grogu's arc hit a wall. Aside from the finale he pretty much was there to be cute and eat something. Gideon turned into another Vader wannabe, he was more interesting in season two.
Overall this was an OK season that gets pulled down by a couple of weak episodes and weak moments within episodes. The main question for me, and I'm actually surprised to hear me saying this: do I want another season ?
Well, I still like the characters of Din, Grogu and Bo Katan and would like to see them again. But there has to be a better effort in terms of the overall story because where we stand now it seems there isn't much left to tell.
That's my impression. I have spoken.
It's true that Season 3 is not a good as the first two, but it's not bad at all. Almost all episodes have something amazing that you can enjoy. There's enough great action sequences to go around and Grogu's cuteness still doesn't get old. It just lacks a bit in the story departement, which is a bit of a bummer, but by now we have to accept that we have a small Mando-universe on our hands and I'm sure that everything that we've seen will come together eventually. As season 3 goes, I still enjoyed the hell out of it and I'm sure we'll see a glimpse of Din Djarin & Grogu in Ashoka later this year. And I can't wait.
Excellent story arc. The story told in Season 3 goes far beyond fight scenes. Season 1 dropped us into a world where this 'Mandalorian' type existed and we got to know them as mercenaries, and Season 2 gave us some backstory about the Forge, but now in S3, we're learning a whole lot about the culture and history. Kudos to the developers who are really fleshing out (finally!) a Star Wars people group.
I really enjoyed this. This is really building up now. I think we'll see Moff leading some Mandalorian. Should be fun to see. I still don't fully trust Greef and think he could be behind a few things... But I hope I'm wrong.
I loved seeing Zeb  probably the best part for me! I hope we see him again! The fights and battles were great. I then love seeing Bo-Katan being asked to remove her helmet and go on her adventure to hopefully reunite The Mandalorians . So much story can come from this and so much possibility. I hope it ends good. Plus, we got big builds for The First Order and how Mod could be a major part. Loved it! My only grumble is it was too short... As they all are
I'm so concerned, nothing at all keeps happening episode per episode.
This season is so much better if you can binge it. I couldn't imagine watching these one-at-a-time.
it was good but it wasn't about our mandalorian at all.
this season should be another show called bo katan
just like ahsoka and boba fett.
shouldn't be called mandalorian season 3.
Unpopular opinion: this is the best of the first three seasons. It finally knows what it is and what it wants to be. It's where the mix between having a storyline but also being the center of the Filoniverse works best. It's where Mando being someone who ends up as a witness to stuff much greater than him, where he contributes but he's not the main character, also works best. Also, the "greater" stuff is finally something relevant to him and not to the Skywalker family. Plus, for the first time, the more standalone episodes didn't bore me to hell. It's a simple, fun show, much better than the other two recent "classical Star Wars" shows.
Also: I kinda binged in a few days, which probably helped me with the slower parts and made me appreciate more the horizontal plot, which basically has got 5 minutes per episodes.
Also: if this season came out a year ago, the third episode would have been such a fascinating, ambitious, smart "bottle episode". But in 2023 it's the Wish version of Andor. Maybe it's better if Filoni and Favreau stick to blasters and sabers.
Season 3 finally felt like everything is coming together. I really liked it (although I was unsure about the direction this is going during the first 3 episodes) but it turned into a great arc for all Mandalorian in the later episodes.
And even though I enjoyed the journey, the last episode looked like a good closure to this particular story.
I wouldn't mind labeling the seasons a bit more into "segments" of Din Djarin's adventures - especially as the 3rd season was more about Grogu's development (beside the Mandalor arc).
So, the next season will again head into a different direction, I guess, and this makes the story feel very fractured.
Apart from that one ridiculous episode, this was so far the best of them I think. Really enjoyed this and seeing some powers grow at the end was definitely my highlight!
Watching the last episode. Had to take a break, the writing is so sloppy and so so bad. So predictable. Very disappointed in favreau and his team. Sometimes I wonder if they got their children to write the script. Almost every scene I find myself bewildered at why characters aren’t using what little brain cells they have. Other than bo katan there is no character development, it’s more like character deterioration! Even Bo Katan’s story is very weak and feels forced at times. The choreography is also terrible throughout the season.
They are very fortunate to have an endless budget that gave us stunning visuals. Because there’s not much else to praise this season.
After this season I’m left feeling as though they stopped caring and started collected the paycheques. :(
Still can’t believe how much worse this season is compared to s1/s2. S1 9/10, s2 8/10, s3 5.5/10( would be much lower without the beautiful visuals)

They've been getting pretty fast and loose with the story this season.
I understand you're not supposed to think too hard, but even a fifth grader would call bs in more than a few instances.
Favareu sets up fun situations, but fails to get there believably. Not necessarily mad at it, but it's uninspired.
Art design and world building is outstanding, and I'm still all in on the cuteness train!
I also love that they never invented railings. Seriously though, it does make for some stunning architecture and open spaces, but you know OSHA would be soiling themselves.
