Really this is where the show is going??? Some kid with a feeling daddy complex. Looking to please her dad that cared more about her sister. Very disappointing turn / motivation.
What an ending!
I don't know how they can do it with every single episode to end with that overwhelming amount of suspense. It goes better and better, keep it up :)
When did they go back to the name Rocinante? Whatever happened to Pinus Contorta?
Mabel seems like a rather weak character with her daddy complex as her motivation. This episode spends quite a time to outline her story too, which is least interesting after all the tense and events that were packed tightly in previous episodes. This episode seems to be only interesting in the first half. Naomi's decision also seems to be resolved quite too fast. The Belter's side of the story is interesting, though how did they get onto the Ring first while Mars and Earth just let them slip away? Drummer's pessimism regarding the Belt also seems to be forgotten in favor of the Belter identity.
I really want Drummer to become a series regular next season.
That's what's behind this ? A personal vendetta ? That is sub standard for the level of writing this show has shown up to now.
I'm excited that Naomi Nagata is coming back to the Roci and we finally know the story behind "Melba Koh" (edit: I'm surprised that so many don't like her backstory/motivation).
The physical accuracy of this show is suffering a bit but I'm fine with that. The protomolecules often defy our current understanding/laws of physics but that that is mentioned in the show and makes sense as we're dealing with something that is technologically much more advanced that we cannot understand yet. However, the speed of ships, especially relative to each other often felt off (not sure if that's really the case or if it just feels like it) during this episode. IIRC they said that the "speed limit" withing "The Ring" is 18 000 kph - TODO.
We've finally advance into full Ring Storyline....
The Roci crew is quickly trying to figure out what the Ring is and it's much more than I expected. Tensions are running high as the crew tries to get out of the mess they find themselves in... again. The cameraman was hired (he doesn't know who) to place a disc in the mainframe. Amos being kinda crazy, sends the documenatry crew to the UN ship to explain what really happened before it gets the ship blown up. But Miller keeps showing up, guiding Holden to the last place he wants to go: the middle of the ring, where a small portal to may hold the answers to everything, but may also be more dangerous than anything Holden has ever encountered.
We get backstory on our new mechanic, who is really Julie Mao's sister, trying to get back at Holden and the OPA, as she sees them as the reason her sister left (OPA) and the downfall of her father/family (Holden). This attack on Holden/The Roci is personal for her.
Meanwhile the OPA and The UN ships are preparring to go into the ring, trying to be the first to discover (and possibly control) the next step in humanities travel through the stars.

And there it is! So, Mabel is Julies sister. I’m not too excited about her story so far, but hopefully her character will grow beyond her father. I’m also glad that the documentary crew (mostly the man) got what they deserved. I had a hard time tolerating them in the previous eps. Even though I’m glad “Miller” is back, I miss characters like Avasarala, Bobbie and Prax. Hoping that the second half of this season picks up in the next few eps, because I really enjoyed the first half.
