It seems these last episodes have become much more compelling. The set up over the whole series is paying off in some ways, still very uncomfortable to watch but a couple of moments were much funnier than similar scenes earlier in the show and I'm feeling more empathy for the characters. There was one scene in an earlier episode where I felt that Nathan's acting was a bit weak but in many ways I think he has showed a lot of restraint and "emotional intelligence" in choosing in specific moments for his character to break the "stiff" delivery that he lives most of his life through. Emma Stone always has a lot more going on so it's natural as a viewer that you appreciate her performance but Nathan and Benny have both given great performances throughout. I also appreciate how subtle much of the show is, they don't feel the need to over explain or emphasise anything for fear that viewers might miss a reference then not understand the pay off.
If the last few episodes keep improving the way they have started to then the series overall could easily live up to the hype and I'd feel sorry for those who didn't stick it out.
