will poulter's character is probably the best mentor marcus could have. he's so calm, patient and open. I'm curious to see the growth that the Copenhagen trip will bring to Marcus (in his culinary skills and in general).
will poulter, the man you are
marcus is my beloved and I'm so happy for him. also will poulter here was fire. he's really moved up since maze runner eh
While Marcus might be a boring character….the realness of conversations in this episode was amazing.
Am I in the minority in enjoying Marcus's character? His one-track mind, naivete, and zeal for wanting to improve are all interesting characteristics. His mom being sick is kind of a cliche backstory, but I like that he is sort of an aimless wanderer trying to figure out his new role.
Marcus’ character doesn’t particularly interest me, but really enjoyed his interactions with Will Poulter’s character. The realness of the latter’s acting and dialogue in particular really go a long way
Really relaxing episode i think..
Marcus is probably the least interesting charactrer on the show. After 5 mins I was on my phone.
Beautiful episode. Love Will Poulter's character. It was a very nice example of how travel and new experiences can really change a person for the better. I'm so proud of Marcus too, he's doing his best to become a better version of himself that he probably thought he never could do.
the music was so good, as per usual. will poulter’s character was nice, his straight face-ness gives an intimidating first impression but his conversations with marcus were very refreshing. that bike incident was really cool and i’m wondering if it will be spoken about again. i’d almost like if it wasn’t. it just felt like one of those odd close encounters with strangers that happen sometimes. idk how to word that.
if marcus’s mother dies, man :(
Scattered thoughts:
Love Abby Elliot being more and more enmeshed with the restaurant crew, she was on SNL for "only" 4 seasons but I'll always have love for all the (early) 2010s SNL castmembers
excellent directing from Ramy Youssef, putting the damn camera down for 4 wholeass minutes and just letting the dialogue carry the scene while doing they're dough stuff, love it. love it.
putting respect on Scottie Pippin's name YES
just absolutely love the vibe of this ep, could've easily been shot/editing in a boring way but it was so watchable total fly on the wall feel
having liked the individual parts of season 1 but not loving it nearly as much as everyone else, am really vibing w/ this season much, much more
might not mean anything/reading too much into it but:
"Do you have any siblings?"
"Yes. You?" (asked that follow-up real quick before Luca had a chance to ask why the younger sibling wasn't pitching in to take care of mom)
"Uh, um, er, yeah. Younger sister" (stammered quite a bit for a question as simple as 'do you have siblings Y/N' did he USED to have a younger sibling and didn't want to get into it?)
I'm loving this season even more than the first one.
Giving time and space for the single characters to grow, in such a "calm" and balanced visual depiction.. is something I have seldom seen. Like, usually there's this sort of hidden tension to bring back us viewers to the main storyline, to keep us hooked and let us not forget what the actual focus is about.
Here they're experimenting with visuals, giving space to silences and moments inbetween, so that we can actually stay on the journey with that character. Live it.
And having new characters chive in to play a part in this growth - great touch. Will Poulter was outstanding and his character's energy matched perfectly with Marcus'.
Btw I hate nothing more than these years' desire to expand and have a cinematic universe for everything - so I'll just have this BCU where I can imagine parallel storylines from other Bears around the world
Opening scene with everyone finding out Natalie is pregnant was great.
Was not expecting to see Will Poulter this episode.
I couldn't care less about Marcus. His story bores me to death.
I'm still trying to piece together what the bicycle accident was about, but I'm really enjoying this focus on Marcus as a character. To see how he's keeping the struggles of looking after his Mom completely under the surface and not letting it interfere with his culinary career and friendships is commendable, and I hope he also reaches the great heights he deserves. Will Poulter's character was a lovely foil to Carmys frantic, demanding, stress driven teachings. I like to think that the stage that came in and showed his character up was Carmy, but I know that's pretty far fetched.
I feel like something is very wrong with me because obviously this episode is very joyful but I felt nothing
I really enjoyed the Copenhagen pastry adventures
love the food in this episode, also enjoyed knowing more about marcus <3
I don't agree that Marcus is bland or boring. He is just more introverted, calm and drama free. I think it is a real representation of a lot of people which is not often shown in tv shows because everyone has to be bigger than life to really pop off. Personally, I really enjoy his kindness and dynamic with Will and the rest of the cast :)
Be like Marcus, everybody…be like Marcus
my favorite episode so far
Good to see Marcus, who is generally one of the more bland cast members, getting some time to shine. The star here is Will Poulter - Poulter and Allen White in the same show - I'm spoiled. Poulter just continues to get better and better.
As far as overall impressions go, though: wow.
loved this episode, especially the music and seeing marcus develop. he and richie are my favorite characters by far. i’m confused by that bike scene, but this may be my favorite episode of the show so far.
For me, the focus on the actual food making is the least interesting part of the show. Although I understand the appeal for people that watch cooking reality competitions.

I totally understand that a lot of time, effort, and emotional energy would have been invested in the pregnancy reveal, but the reality is it didn't work. They should have cut it and found another way.
(To be more specific, the way it played out in a physical sense just didn't make any logical sense; as an actor she had to wait for the action—the movement and sound—to end before she could speak, or neither we nor the people she's speaking to hear her, but it makes no sense for her to do that IRL, of course, because once she realised everyone was looking at her she would not have revealed this information.)
