One of this arc's better episodes. A sort of love triangle, and it doesn't feel rushed like some earlier stories we've seen from this world. Makes you wonder where they got the sleeping bags from, though. Bedrolls aren't typically carried in many RPGs, but they are standard equipment in D&D, which is interesting as SAO, the game, is basically another The World (.hack//SIGN), or in the real world, World of WarCraft, or The Elder Scrolls Online. It's not supposed to be a D&D game. As we learned in the first episode (and later episodes), the sword art isn't based on dice rolls, it's based on timing. This is an action RPG. It's based on skill, not chance. Lanterns are another D&D staple for adventurers, but probably more common in MMORPGs (at least torches).

Moving on, I'm curious about Liz's friends. A picture of them is shown and focused on twice, but I don't think we ever find out about them. It's like there's an opportunity to get back story on Liz. She's lonely, but she had three or four guy friends. Brothers, maybe? There's got to be something there we're not seeing.

harem tropes are so annoying but when i was in high school i once fell for a dude cause he smiled at me so like... who am i to say liz's actions aren't realistic

but also i really don't like it when male characters yell at female characters and they just suddenly go quiet and subservient. and then liz gets treated like a kid/praised for it after? kinda triggering for people who have been in toxic/abusive situations.

Finally, an episode with proper pacing and actually manages to tell the story without stumbling all over itself.
