Yam Yam’s big personality came across, to me, as “showy” and forced. I was not enamored by it like everyone else. And I don’t believe he was as strategic as everybody perceived him to be. He clearly wanted Carolyn out for a while, but failed at convincing anyone else. So I’m not thrilled with the winner. (Although it beats last season.)
I was really rooting for Carolyn, but happy she reached the end. We, as an audience, were lucky to have watched her play. Such a unique and genuine contestant.
Lauren's strategy for the whole season has been amateurish at best, and tonight was the cherry on the cake. Like somebody was watching past seasons and thinking they know how to do it, but have been fast-forwarding through the actually useful things so ended up learning nothing at all. That TC performance was just excruciating to watch.
I haaaaate fire challenge. I prefer Final 2 obviously, but even with a Final 3, the fire challenge robs the last 4 of all the stategy, just spending all day practicing fire, booooo. And I hate the idea of "sacrificing" your immunity to "prove yourself" to the jury. Whyyyyyyy. Good on Carson for trying to feed a little bit this stupid idea of Heidi to maybe give himself a better chance (let's be honest, Carolyn or Yam Yam would SMOKE him), and good on Heidi for winning the challenge, but if I was a jury member I would penalize Heidi for giving up immunity she work hard for, not give her points for being extra risky when ther's no reason for it. (Yes, I still have Ghost Island & Edge of Extinction nightmares.) At least she didn't win, but she still robbed Carolyn of a well-deserved 2nd place finish. CAROLYN SHOULD'VE WON OF COURSE, but to be fair, Yam Yam was TREMENDOUSLY GOOD at the final tribal council, funny and playful while giving smart and insightful answers and taking credit for his alliance's game. Sad for Carolyn, but I can live with him as a winner. Fun season, even if it was kind of amateur hour for a big part of the game, especially the first half.
PS. Franny + Matt = LFE YES PLEASE
Heidi was giving me second-hand embarrassment almost every time she talked at the final tribal! Talking over Yam Yam, trying to pander to the jury instead of speaking on her game (since she didn't have much of one), and talking about how Tika was on a high the whole time while she had to struggle. Meanwhile Tika came to the merge with only 3 members, she was struggling because Tika picked the other 2 tribes apart one by one and they didn't realize until it was already too late. I'm very happy Yam Yam won! It was between him and Caroline but he played the more well-rounded strategic and social game. Fun season!
Outside of the Tika 3, this season had a lot of bad players. The Tika 3 were just that good that it seemed like a “banger of a season”
I seem to be in the minority but I find Yam-Yam to be another bland winner. Between him and Maryanne the quality of winners has gone downhill as well.
All life of the finale was sucked out by the time Carson left. I'm surprised for someone who put in so much work, he couldn't do fire that well. Though the Final 5 challenge was one of the most thrilling I can recall.
I miss the old final tribal councils. The fun is gone from them.
I can’t say I was ever a fan of Yam Yam. However, only Carolyn and him were memorable from the very beginning. And he won (in my eyes) by helping Carson with fire making.
yamyam was well rounded and great player

Wow, what a season. It’s been a wild, exciting ride, and this roller-coaster ride of a finale was the perfect, stress-inducing cap. I can’t imagine a first-time cast measuring up to this one for a while… Congratulations to a very worthy winner!
