This was my favourite JarPad performance in a long time! This episode was all his.
When the writing is good there's no doubt that both Jared and Jensen can act as well as any other, it's one of the main reasons SPN is still going after 14 seasons.
"You have one card today! But we'll find another tomorrow. But if you quit on us today, there won't be no tomorrow! You tell me, uh, you don't know what else to do. I don't either, Dean. Not yet. But what you're doing now, it's wrong! It's quitting! I mean, look what just happened. Donatello never quit fighting. So we could help him because he gave up. I believe in us, Dean. I believe in us. Why don't you believe in us, too?"
Standing applause. I'm not crying. You are crying. Supernatural is the only show that makes my heart do a backflip and somehow land still. Broken, but still. Some would say that after 14 seasons, you've got accustomed to that feeling, but I haven't and I won't.
Jared killed that scene. It felt beyond real because of little things like his hair in his face or even his nose turning red after that punch-hug. While it's true that Sam doesn't have as many emotional scenes as Dean has, he always surprises me. Jared's performance is Sacrifice, the season 8 finale, was, to my eyes, his strongest performance. This goes directly to the top. I felt every emotion and that single tear running through my cheek knows it. As big as Jared is, that really felt like a little brother.
The fact that his monologue was absolutely perfect helped a lot. His words, his body language, everything was done to captured the tension between the boys. A mention of John always makes my skin crawl and then Dean had to say that he never wanted to leave his brother's side. Ouch. I swear this show will be the death of me.
I loved Sam's "No rest for the self-destructive" line. It feels like a life motto.
The ending of the past two episodes punched me right in the feels. I'm not even sure I'm going to make it through episode 300th. I'm crazy for that episode and I smell tears on the way, but I feel like I'm not ready for it, yet.
I loved the parallelism between the beginning and the end. The episode started with a trapped and panicked Dean calling out for Sam, unable to reach him and it ends with a desperate Sam trying to reach Dean by displaying his feelings and trying to use their bond to make Dean reconnect.
The season started so-so, but the episodes sicne "Nihilism" have been outstanding. Yeah, I can see complains about the episode being too angsty or so, but I live for scenes like the last one. That punch-hug really got me by surprise and it might be one of the most powerful moments and scenes in recent memory.
Supernatural episodes haven't been that violent and bloody in a while. A thing that I'm actually thankful for. They always shied away when the actual murder is being committed, but the first kill was actually pretty disturbing.
The opening dream sequence was a work of art. A freaking masterpiece. Cinematography was outstanding the whole episode. It looked more like a film thatn a TV show. I especially enjoyed the shot of Dean's bloody fingernails. Having him calling out to Sam in a parallel to the end of season 3 when he did it from Hell was great.
In all honesty, it felt like an episode from Criminal minds, especiallt the first kill. I could see García pressing her keyboard and prentiss saying "Wheels up in 30".
The whole conversation in the Impala and Dean's "one last case for the Winchester boys" was a roller-coaster of emotions. I love when we get to see a glimpse of the boys' childhood. We're always told about how Dean practically raised Sam and about Sam's childhood, but we never seem to get more about Dean's. I'd love more of that and the struggle Dean had to go through to make Sam happy.
I'm glad they got a happy ending for Doantello. I grew fond of his character and the way he was written off wasn't the best. He remains soulless, but still. I found it funny that Dean said "nobody's perfect" when Cas said Donatello had no soul. You didn't say the same when Sam was soulless, Dean!
I loved the callback to Changing Channels with "Doctor". I loved that Cas was wearing a doctor's coat over his trenchcoat. But what was that? Cas actually doing angel stuff? Unbelieavable! Who've known? Come quick and make a wish!
Dean's storyline was great, but so was Nick's. To me, Nick is far more interesting than Lucifer. It's an udnerstatement taht Luci is coming back, but I'm more invested in Nick that I've been i nLucifer in the past few seasons.
The scene in Nick's house was amazig, I feel sorry for him. He has one hell of a Stockholm syndrome. I love how nick was more excited to see Satan than his own wife. I love what that means to Lucifer's character. He's so powerful that he can destroy a human mind from the inside. Nick keeps saying he needs to find who killed Sarah and Teddy and avenge their deaths, but they were just an excuse to choose Lucifer again, over his own wife. It was a perfect scene and very well-written. I only wish they could've got the same actress.
Amazing epsisode once again. Too much angst, yeah, but understandable. Both storylines had me at the edge of my seat and the last scene was way too good. Also, the end credits being now white implying "the light at the end of the tunnel" were great.
Now, let's see what happens in Lebanon. I can't wait to see John again on the show. It's proabably going to be about time travel or a change in the timeline, but I can't wait for John to meet Cas and Jack, and I can't wait to see John and Mary together. We haven't seen them together as adults since the pilot, and in that episode they didn't even interact as much.
It was okay. Not sure if I feel sorry for Nick
what an episode!! phenomenal work!!
Mark, you've had a great run on this show, but it's time for you to get gone and stay gone.
I'm sorry, but I had to laugh when Sam got to the "I believe" part of his speech.

This one had some good movement on the Dean, Nick and Donatello fronts, but it also had too much angst once again. Not as much as last week, but still too much. Especially for this show.

Oh, well, now I understand when Jensen said that during a emotional scene in ep 12 left crew in tears... I am in tears!! I love these brothers so much!!
