A backup, a hug, a fight and a kiss
El is the cutest BADASS character ever
This episode was amazing and beautiful, if there's more than 10 stars I would give it more
First let's talk about Steve, he's amazing, he's brave and kind.. Did you see how he was genuinely care about these kids and puts himself in danger just to protect them.. I gotta say he became one of my favorite characters in the show
Also lets talk about the kid who plays Will, gosh!! That kid is sooo talented, I was genuinely feeling his pain, he's so amazing and I'm sure he has a bright future ahead of him
The 3 ways attack bit was also amazing, seeing all the characters attack at the same time from different places was gold writing from the show runners.. I liked how the kids took Steve with them while he was unconscious LMAO, and he was like f*** it lets go burn that sh*t.. I still thing that Nancy doesn't deserve Steve, he's too good for her
Anyway, I didn't like that bit with Dustin and his pet, it felt stupid, I mean they're monsters after all so I don't see how that monster can form such feelings for human, anyway he died at the end we saw him next to the chocolate bar
About El, her scene closing that gate was simply EPIC, I loved how she towards the end used both her hands to push the monster back, and by doing that she actually became more powerful, so now we know El with 2 raised hands are unstoppable
Last thing is the Snow Ball party, it was sad and hilarious seeing Dustin get rejected one by one LMAO, but then Nancy saved his a**, then we saw Mike sitting alone and I had a feeling that El gonna show up, and she did!! She was beautiful and cute.. I'm glad that she's finally with Mike and she feels happy
It was a great season but now we have to wait a long time from season 3 :(((
Mostly a character driven season. If you think of it, so was the first season. So maybe all the "boo hoo season 2 wasn't what I wanted from the show" comments. Are from fans who don't get the show.
The season beautifully built up relationships more. Even if Mike and Eleven didn't have much screen time together. When they finally had scenes, they were what fans were waiting for.
As for being slow at times, so was season 1. I think they have about as much build up.
sooooooo... what was the point of madmax' cancerous family? like seriously?
Such an amazing episode.
Mad Max earns her name, Mike (briefly) outsmarts the shadow monster, Hopper finally opens up to Eleven and does everything to protect her, Eleven unleashes all her power, and Dustin keeps breaking the tension with just the right amount of comedic relief:
"Demodog…like demogorgon and dog…put together."
Then there's Steve. Can we talk about Steve for a minute? In season 1, he was a first-rate dick, and I was so mad when Nancy ended up with him at the end of the finale. This season, though, he totally redeemed himself by repeatedly putting himself in danger to protect others. In this episode he was beaten to a bloody pulp while protecting Lucas from Billy, and when he comes to, what does he do? He takes charge and leads the party again.
Meanwhile, this season Nancy hooked up with with Jonathan "I hang out with my little brother because I have no friends" Byers because Murray Bauman claimed there was something between them. There was so much character development and relationship building this season, but the writers seemed to skip over Jonathan. He mostly just moped around and was almost as useless as Will, which made Nancy's attraction to him seem that much more forced. Hopefully next season Nancy will see the error of her ways or Steve will find someone better.
In the meantime, I'm officially on #TeamSteve.
It was a happy ending for everyone except for the MVP of the season: Steve :c
Steve's the best! I love him, he's my favorite. And his mentorship/bromance with Dustin is cute beyond words! They're hilarious togehter
Didn't think they could top the first one, but I was SO WRONG. Bravo! Truly enjoyable through and through (not you, episode 7).
I really hope the Steve and Dustin bromance isn't dropped next season and we get to see more of it. I absolutely love them. And is it just me or the random extras look like they were literally pulled out from the 80s? The custom and props department did a great job.
The best thing about this episode, by a long shot, was Max's brother flirting with Nancy's mom.
what they did with the demodog in the fridge?
Yeah, my whole comment is a spoiler, so I hope I did the code right, lol.
I knew Dustin was being stupid from the beginning...but I did feel sorry about D'arth dying in the end...way more than about Bob.
It wasn't that I felt sorry for the Demo Dog...but for Dustin...He lost out on love, he got rejected time and time again at the dance, and his cat AND demo dog died, lol, he has such bad luck. At least Nancy saved the day for him. Poor kid, I would have cried too if I got rejected the way he was. Those girls were so mean, so cruel...the way they laughed and talked about him. So that's probably the only reason I felt bad his demo dog died. Haha, at least it remembered him and let them pass.
I'm glad El finally came back for Mike, and er...will...haha, he is quite the little actor! Boy can he scream and act creepy and possessed. Those kids are all great!
Steve is teaching Dustin how to pick up Nancy. That's going to be awkward.
Awesome season and Nancy dancing with Dustin was the best thing ever!!
Better than S1, but still weak in terms of writing. I'm glad it was morw character-driven and hope to see Billy, and Kali and the gang in the next season.
Steve has just won the favorite character spot beside Dustin. I never thought his character would grow the way it has and I'd grow to love him. I hope for alot of future Steve/Dustin endeavours!
I'm not sad about Max being with Lucas; I know Dustin (and Steve) deserve someone so much better, someone like them, who they have chemistry with.
I'm still not into scenes with kids kissing but whatever.
Gaten, Noah, Joe, and Dacre were the strongest performers this season. I hope they rightfully win some awards. At least, Gaten and Noah.
When you look at season 2 as it own it was still a really great show IMO (well, maybe expect episode 7 which while important just felt out of place) but compared to season 1 it just kinda lacked that WOW-factor that elevates it to a 10/10 show. Still absolutely fantastic.
I didn’t like this season as much as season one, but it was still good. Some things felt rushed while other things seemed unnecessary (Nancy/Jonathan romance, Max’ crazy brother). Let’s see what awaits us in season three.
Amazing!!! i laughed, i cried, what a emotional ride! Mike and Eleven is the best OTP on the show easily. Their dance together.. i cried. Hooper and Eleven are such a amazing duo! Father and daughter oficially! And omg, Steve! One of the best developments ever! Hope they put him again with the kids. He rocks with his bat! And poor Will.. hopefully he will be better now. The poor kid deserves a break lol. This was iconis as season 1. Well done!!
Honestly, this felt like a poor season. Even though a lot was covered, I felt like nothing really happened. It just felt like an incredibly long episode with small things occurring. For example, El's sister was pretty useless to the entire story. Nothing progressed there. The whole Nancy-Jonathan stuff just had to happen again and it was just baaaad. Billy - another useless annoying character that was just there to clog up some screen time. I didn't see much of Mike or the kids together so overall, it was pretty disappointing. Had higher expectations.
[7.4/10] This is one of those finales that works much better on an emotional level than on a logical level, and that’s alright. It makes some of the characters’ decisions frustrating, especially when things seem to work out by fiat rather than because it’s earned or properly built to, but there’s still some cool and affecting moments in the climax.
Chief among them is Eleven closing the titular gate while her adoptive father blasts away threats in the pit of hell. It makes for a strong trauma and recovery metaphor. Returning to Hawkins Lab means returning to the source of Eleven’s pain and abuse. It’s the wound that Kali told her would fester. But she channels that pain to push past it, using her memories of “Papa” and the abuses she suffered there to unlock her full power and close the literal and symbolic wounds at the same time.
I’m not saying Eleven’s going to be totally fine now, but there’s still some potent symbolism in her closing the portal to the Upside Down, stopping the infestation (or festering) that she inadvertently started, and saving the day. It’s a cool visual, with the dark silhouettes of her and Hopper making it look as though the two are staring into the gates of hell. The door is closed, and now maybe Eleven can truly heal.
The business with the Byers family + Nancy is a little nuts. Why they think that heating things up for Will is going to expel the Shadow Monster, rather than just kill him, I don’t know. Again, it seems like they go into every Will-related plan half-cocked, but I guess desperate times call for desperate measures?
The good news is that, logic be damned, it makes for a really good scene. There’s a lot of The Exorcist to it, with Will’s paroxysms of pain and some strong effects work. Jonathan believing they’ve gone too far, Joyce holding him back, and Nancy using a hot poker to break the beast’s concentration all add tension and give each member of the crew something to do. Again, it doesn’t make much sense, but it adds tension and the resulting sequence is well done.
The most nonsensical part of the big climax is the rest of the kids + Steve going into the tunnels to light some crap on fire in the hopes of distracting the hivemind and giving Eleven the chance to do her work at Hawkins Lab. It’s honestly not a bad plan in and of itself; it’s just dumb that Steve would even begin to go along with it and let all these middle-schoolers put themselves in danger.
Still, once again, Stranger Things pulls its irons out of the fire by making the actual execution of the idea, cockamamie thought it may be, into something entertaining. As dumb as it is, Max’s frantic drive to the spot where Hopper went underground is amusingly madcap. The gang masking up and trying to find the hub makes for some cool imagery. And Dustin helping them escape by not only playing nice with Dart, but offering him some nougat is a sweet coda to their story.
That just leaves one major weak link, which is Billy. Why is that guy even in this show? What is his point as a character? I guess it’s to give us a Max-specific villain, show us what she’s struggling with to make her more interesting. But he’s never been interesting, and him getting in a fight with Steve or getting threatened with a groin smash by his sister doesn’t do anything to change that. I dearly hope that in season 3, he gets shipped off to military school or something so we don’t have to waste anymore time with him.
Otherwise, there’s a few noteworthy and emotional conversations. Steve basically makes his peace with Nancy leaving him for Jonathan, while still seeming wistful about her as the one that got away. It’s a nice moment, even if it’s a little convenient and overly gentle for something that must be hard.
We also get a very sweet moment with Hopper and Eleven driving to Hawkins Lab where they express their remorse to one another. I’ll admit, I think Hopper’s a little hard on himself because, you know, he’s right about the risks that lie beyond the door to that cabin. But I do like the sweetness of him apologizing, complimenting her look, and admitting that his treatment of Eleven had a lot to do with his fears after already having lost one daughter. It’s a good scene, even if I again don’t buy all of the logic of it. (And Hopper’s scene with Mike is a good one too.) The ensuing scenes where Hopper reveals all to Paul Resier, and then Reiser gives him a doctored birth certificate for Eleven ties things up nicely.
But what really makes this one soar in my book is the “One Month Later” scene at the snowball dance. It’s such a nice button to put on everything. Lucas and Max get together for real in an adorably awkward way. Will is happy and gets a dance of his own. Hopper and Joyce share a smoke. And “Time After Time” plays in the background.
That’s not the most compelling part of the sequence, though. That comes from Dustin getting dolled up to look like Patrick Swayze, getting a pep talk from Steve, finding himself a wallflower despite all his effort, only to have his spirits lifted when his old crush Nancy asks him to dance. For the record, I’m more on board with Nancy and Dustin than any of her other beaus (should probably give it a few years though). Her coaching him up is very sweet, and the way it rouses Dustin after all his effort is incredibly heartening.
And yet, the real triumph is in Eleven making her entrance, finding Mike across the room, and the two finally getting their dance and kiss that’s been so well-earned. It’s cathartic both because Eleven’s wanted to try to get to do something normal and be with her friends this whole season, and Mike’s been missing this young woman he forged such a special connection with the whole time too. “I’ll Be Watching You” is the perfect soundtrack in light of her In Between Land checks on him, and it has a double meaning with the continued existence of the Shadow Monster on the other side.
On the whole, season 2 of Stranger Things wasn’t quite as good as the first, but still very good. It got a little more ambitious and arguably bit off more than it could chew, but it’s still a nice mix of Freaks and Geeks and The X-Files. There’s still tons of superb and endearing characters, lots of well-acted and well-crafted scenes, and some cool supernatural mysteries and resolutions packaged with quality coming-of-age tales. On to season 3
This season was more amazing than the first one.
I'm glad Will is safe... At least for now I hope.
Dustin made me laugh so much. He's super smart and his new friendship with Steve is pretty cool. They deserve happiness.
Mike and Eleven need to comunicate more with each other. They'll be fine.
Max is awesome. Her family is a totally mess but hopefully the won't mess with her and the boys.
Joyce and Hopper should give it a try.
that was an amazing season and, first of all, i'd like to thank my father jim hopper and my mother steve harrington. also, noah schnapp and winona ryder deserves all the best acting nominations for this
better than season 1. in fact stranger things season 2 > got season 7
I never thought it will be as good as the first season, but it is even better. It's an emotional ride, with alot of action and i started to like characters this season that i did not liked the first season Steve
What an awesome finale!
all i can say is HOLY FUCK WHAT A GREAT SEASON
I know it's weird but I kinda feel sorry for Dart. Anyway, this season was way better than the first one which took me a while to get into. Dustin was super hilarious and cute and I absolutely love his friendship with Steve who by the way easily became one of my favorite characters. And of course El rocked every second of this! Can't wait to see the next season.
I just can't get over how talented these kids are. My mind was blown this season by Noah, he is a brilliant young actor. This season was FANTASTIC! I love how it all came together in the end. Goosebumps!
Damn... Now have to wait again :/ Great series.
just to point out that I watched the whole season at once. lol
this season just made clear the Lovecraft inspiration. loved bit by bit.
I loved the episode 7, and after that, the whole throwing through the window scene. Even though it was pretty clear, from miles away, who was it, still got me waiting like hell for that character to show up, and that entrance...
the best part of this episode was Steve freaking out while Max was driving.
It makes me so sad to see El shun Max, I know it's not the end of the world but it's all from a misunderstanding.
I swear each season finale just gets better and better. All these characters are so engaging, and after all the hell they went through, they deserved all those adorable moments at the dance.
This episode was amazing! I was binging the season, so caught up on everything and I realized almost near the end that this was the finale… so well wrapped up!
Dustin and Susie's musical number.
wow...that was a rollercoaster ride :exploding_head::exploding_head::exploding_head:
el was such a BADASS :crown: the scene where she closed the gate was so engrossing and powerful. you can really feel her emotions while doing so. definitely one of the most intense and well-made scenes in the series so far!
i also like the bonding between the party and steve. steve did a great job in babysitting, honestly :rofl::rofl: and the steve and dustin tandem, bro. it was hilarious fr :sob: their personalities blend each other's !! cant wait to see more from them <3
i find the scene of getting the shadow monster out from will's body and lighting up on fire the tunnel's hub so brilliant :exploding_head: not to mention the way the actors projected their characters really well; especially, will !!!!!
aND THE SNOW BALL ?!??!!????! okay as a hopeless romantic person, i really love that scene ☹:heartpulse: i blame the pandemic for robbing us the opportunity to experience prom ball even for once !!!!!!!!!!!!! i could've been asked by someone to dance the way lucas did to max (fr, that was so smooth i love it :heartpulse:). or i could've asked my crush to dance with me as what the girl did to will !!!! lastly, i could have been told "you're beautiful" by a handsome man like mike the way he did to el. unfortunately, not even a single thing happened because of the pandemic i am crying :)))))))))
Whoever decided to make Steve the kids' babysitter in this episode lemme give you a kiss. So entertaining to watch.
The intense scene of getting the virus out of Will is also a standout scene . And Hopper and El's scenes - aww!
If I had to complain about something is that I wished we got more scenes of the boys together at the end, especially with Will. If I'm not mistaken he didn't really interact with either Dustin nor Lucas since the first episode and I think that's a shame, I want more of their friendship! Instead they made him dance with some random girl who called him zombie boy... ugh get behind me Will, my boy deserves better. Nancy dancing with Dustin was super sweet though.
So they chose to lazily wrap up the season. That whole bring girl to do her magic is too cliché. Why didn't she close it in the first season?
But this is the perfect ending for this show. I have no idea why they chose to make another season. Ah!! MOney!
How did Billy know Lucas’ full name or even his first name ? Otherwise a great ending.
Still a good season alltogether but I liked the first one better. This really was more of the same with a lot of added teenage romance. Now I fear a little bit that S3 will repeat the cycle and add some more characters so everyone can have a girlfriend.
And "I didn't know that Nancy had a sister." Really ? That was one major
Great season finale!!!! I loved how it ended in high note. Seriously, Steve and the boys were the bests. He has grow so much since the beginnig of this season. He, Mike, Will, Hopper and Eleven are muito favorite characters now. Finally Will is free Upside Down influence and I hope that he now gonna be a badasss. Nancy did a great thing at end and I really enjoyed. But my favorite thing was Mike and Eleven. They reservas since the end of season one. I haver to say that specials effects were amazing in this episode. Great ending and I can't wait to July 4!!!!
It's amazing what an amazing character Steve has become. Though in some way I'm a little mad that he isnt even a bit angry with Nancy and the way she didn't think that much about his feelings.
Could I ship any more Hopper and Joyce?
The snow ball was quite cringy but everything else was really good; reminds me of the Young Justice season 1 finale.
It was an objectively horrible decision for them to save the entirety of this season's "everyday life" bits for the finale. It was well done but so poorly placed in the context of the story that it didn't matter how well done it was.
I swear I was saying it out loud that if Nancy and Dustin are about to kiss imma punch myself in the face.
Epic finale btw.
Season finale, the final fight comes and we use both hands, good end of season and preparing the T3, maybe I liked the T1 better
Best serie i've ever seen!!!!
Perfect episode, but... DUSTIN WAS TO BE KISSED MAX, HOW SO LUCAS KISSED MAX? IT WAS TO BE DUSTIN!
Action-packed kick-assery followed by a bit of sweet nostalgia. Great story, great characters, great acting and directing. I don't know where they're gonna go from here, but you can be sure that I'll be along for the ride.
that ending... Damm.
It felt kinda rushed, but still really great. I mean aside the crazy brother plot. though it was really funny to see him flirting with X mother, it really broke the pacing, such a funny scene amid that suspence level, and worse, so close to the end... I know some people need that time to breath, but still, felt a few episodes late at least.
overall excellent episode, amazing season, superb series.

What Nancy did for Dustin was really sweet. Why can’t she be like this the whole time? She’s much more interesting when she’s not chasing after a boy.
